Best egg dishes in San Clemente! French atmosphere on the patio — you also could picture yourself in Paris in a little street café! Scrambled egg is always served fluffy and the tartine? Scrambled eggs on French baguette or ciabatta with ham, chives Swiss cheese — AMAZING! however, a place that calls itself café mimosa and only serves one sparkling wine should revisit their beverage program especially since the sparkling is of poor quality!

I’ve been here 3 times and boy do I wish I lived closer!!! This place is great for brunch. They close early though. Service is amazing. Love the outdoor patio. Tried the croissant French toast. Never had one and I’m glad I made the right decision in ordering it. Yummmmm. This place definitely deserves 5 stars.

No Stars if I could! Bad Service is Bad SERVICE. Waited for 40 minutes for a table for 3 after being told it would be 25 minutes. Tourist trap, Watched locals seated before non. After waiting I took my name off list, my wife walked in a minute later to ask what had happened? the y host informed her that someone else must have taken our table. I had instructed the host to remove my name. Shenanigans! Bottom line do yourself a favor and try Antoines for breakfast. I’d also recommend Sonny’s for lunch or dinner. these two establishments want to take care of their guests and it shows! Shame on you Mimosa, shame on you and your crusty service!

The french toasts and blueberry cake were very heavy, huge plates, very expensive for what it is. It is not french style from my point of vue.

Food and service were perfect. The egg white frittata was crispy on the outside with all its deliciousness inside. My husband had the pork belly eggs Benedict that was very filling. We thought this place was quaint and will definitely recommend to friends and visit again soon.

This place was an awesome brunch place. We were luckily able to catch it before it closed at 3PM(I know, super late lunch). Its’ this cute little brunch place right by the beach located in the cutest beach town known as San Clemente. There was absolutely no wait at 2PM and the service was quick and friendly. While looking at the menu, me and my friends were wondering how many eggs they went through in one day. There were so many items on the menu that contained multiple eggs. I got the Eggs Benedict(omg i love eggs benedict, one of my favorite foods) and it was absolutely delicious. I was kind of skeptic because the hollandaise sauce was a bit more orange than usual but it still tasted good. I only did not like that the English muffin was a bit small under the eggs benedict. The ham was super thin, almost like a proscuitto. It comes with a side of brunch potatoes which were a good side with the Eggs Benedict. There was also a choice of having eggs benedict Florentine style(only spinach, no ham) or Salmon(salmon, no ham). My friends got the Crème Brulee French Toast, the Chorizo Scramble, and the Smoked Salmon plate. The Crème Brulee French Toast was really good but it seemed overwhelmingly sweet for a whole meal. It was a brioche french toast with custard topping and a berry jam. I would suggest splitting a sweet french toast and a savory egg plate if you were to split with someone. The Chorizo Scramble was really good too. I’m not too sure what was in it but I know it was a lot of eggs with chorizo, avocado, and other assorted things. The smoked salmon plate I would not recommend unless you really like smoked salmon. The salmon was basically raw and there was a lot on the plate which you could eat with balsalmic vinegarette and a piece of bread. The atmosphere of this place was very cute. I would recommend if you’re in the place and you are craving a weekend brunch.

Maybe 3.5−3.75 stars. Frustrated after stopping at 2 eateries — stating they offered«waiter service», but did not — we came upon Café Mimosa — a very small, casual, older-interior, quaint spot. We had a good feeling once we caught a glimpse of the attractive storefront, and that it was visibly busy. Being a cold, winter late morning, we opted for inside seating(not much difference, being that the double doors leading to the outdoor patio was kept wide open). Service was appreciatively very welcoming and very friendly, and fairly attentive. I ordered the Egg White Frittata($ 14): piping hot(love that!), light-and-fluffy, and very flavorful(especially with shredded cheese melted on top); the entrée was accompanied by a light-and-tasty side salad of mixed greens. Good food(a bit pricey for what you get), decent coffee. Nice find(although I would’ve appreciated not having to face the busy, single door leading into the toilette).

30 minute wait time for party of 2 during mid-noon Sunday. We waited about 40 minutes, with 10 of those last minutes staring at a table for 2 that we eventually were seated at once we asked about it. That’s probably the extent of my unhappiness. My order of artichoke eggs benedict was delicious(I’m a huge fan of benedicts in general), but incredibly pricey for the portion and choices. It’s more of a 3.5 stars, because nothing really threw me over the edge here. Service was great but the place is a bit small which makes you feel cramped and constricted, not to mention a bit rushed when there’s a huge line just staring at you. I definitely loved trying Café Mimosa and loved the cute, almost-rustic-feel of the restaurant, but the priceyness of their menu items just didn’t do it for me. I guess it’s the downside of trying to make it in San Clemente.

More like 3.75. Was visiting beautiful San Clemente on a sunny Tuesday and stumbled upon Café Mimosa(GASPWITHOUT UnilocalING) driving down towards the beach for a quick breakfast. The cute, floral patio area was what intrigued me to suggest going here with my companion . Immediately thought pricey $$$ as plates averaged about $ 14 or so. Good service and a helpful waitstaff were noted as well. We had the Eggs Benedict and a breakfast sample platter of eggs, toasted sourdough, breakfast potatoes and sliced ham. Eggs Benedict with ham: 4⁄5 Very rich hollandaise sauce with chives was not overwhelming and complimented the smokey ham well. The bread that the eggs were sitting on was heavily buttered which only added to the richness of the hollandaise, a bit much for my liking. The bread although slightly toasted wilted under the richness. However, very solid otherwise. Breakfast sample: 4⁄5 I mean how hard is this to mess up? Eggs, house potatoes, ham, lightly toasted bread. Super basic and I mean that in a positive way. Clean and classic breakfast flavors without bells and whistles of seasonings or unique techniques. Overall a pretty cool place, Mimosas are obviously what they are known for here but we did not have any. Expensive, but definitely good

Walking through downtown San Clemente, we stopped by to get breakfast here and sat at their cute outdoor patio. Coffee was smooth and had great flavor. We had the chorizo scramble and cold oatmeal. The chorizo scramble was good, but needed a bit of hot sauce to give it that extra oomph. Cold oats was a bit weird, very thick and topped with both dried and fresh fruit. I would have liked it to have a bit more milk and spices. Overall good experience. Wait staff was really nice and the ambience was wonderful for just sitting around a beach town enjoying the day, and escaping the sun. Street parking.

One of my top favorite places in San Clemente, but only when I’m feeling fancy. This French vibe and outdoor patio seating has got me hooked. Their wide array of Mimosa flavors are rarely seen in most brunch spots– anything from pomegranate, to elderflower, to blueberry. Fantastic! For brunch, I’d go for the Spanish Omelette or the classic Eggs benedict. For lunch, their Salmon Salad is quality! Prepare for a wait on the weekends, but know it’s well worth it. It’s a great establishment!

Quick Hits for brunch: — unless you come by really early, expect to wait — portions are big, price is more $$$ than $$ — food was okay. Service was friendly and good. — lots of intriguing drink options The fare: Pork belly — The piece of pork belly was 95% fat and 5% meat. Now I understand that pork belly is supposed to be fatty but c’mon man :(While the pork belly was disappointing, the accompanying scramble and potatoes were great. Chorizo scramble — A large portion of chorizo, cheese, eggs with potatoes and a couple of corn tortillas. I’m normally a cautious fan of chorizo just bc of how salty it normally can be, but the chorizo here was surprisingly bland — nothing some cholula hot sauce couldn’t fix but meh, expected more. Nothing too special about this dish. Oh and the large pepper it came with had mold on it, so that sucked. Crème brûlée French toast — Fluffy, saucy(bc of the compote), creamy French toast. We shared this for the table which was probably the best case scenario since I think it’d be overwhelming for one person to eat it all. But it was quite good. Only thing worth writing home about. Overall the food was pretty good, but for me, it didn’t do enough to justify the price points.

Nice little spot in San Clemente. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Always made it a point to check on us to make sure everything was okay. Service was quick. Didn’t have to wait long to place our orders or to get our food or our bill. We stopped by to have breakfast. We tried the Croissant French Toast. Never had a french toast made with croissants. It was different, but good. It was topped with a raspberry sauce of some sort. We also ordered the Eggs Benedict Florentine which came with potatoes. For those of you who don’t know, Florentine is made with spinach and Traditional is made with Ham. The eggs were made well and not too runny. The portions of each were perfect and enough for us to share. They had a good selection of mimosas. We tried a passion fruit and a blueberry. Both very good. We missed out on the mango flavor, so we’ll need to come back to try that. Although this place was a little on the pricey side(approx. $ 60 for 2 people), we’d recommend giving this place a try.

They don’t take reservations for brunch, so expect to wait. Last Saturday we got here at 9:15AM and we weren’t seated until 10:15AM, and it was only 2 of us. They really need to work on their organization… I heard two of the employee’s say that they were almost out of champagne and needed to run and buy more(and it was only 9:30AM), and they were out of several of the mimosa flavors. Also, they had to stop seating people for about 30 minutes(even though there were plenty of open tables) to give the kitchen a break because they were low on staff. However, the food and service are definitely worth the wait and hiccups. All of the staff were really nice, and our breakfast and mimosas were delicious. I would definitely come back for brunch again. Just put your name in and go get a coffee from Starbucks while you wait… Or go for a walk and burn some cals so you won’t feel guilty when you clear your plate or order a second mimosa.

Brunch is 5 stars, Try Dinner it’s at least 4 stars! So my wife and I love Café Mimosa for brunch. The attention to detail of the dishes reminds us both of fond memories of both France and Italy. Be sure and read my other review for Brunch as this review will include dinner. One note, no dish we’ve had here is overly seasoned. LOCATION and AMBIANCE(Rating 5) Just driving by this place you know it’s something special. It’s interesting architecture and novel /quaint look coupled with a beautiful boardwalk patio with hanging drapes and a line waiting to get in is a dead giveaway. The inside is small so almost everybody waits outside. The staff is friendly and the owners are very involved. SERVICE:(Rating 4) The service tonight wasn’t quite what I hoped for. While our waiter was extremely nice and he even went out of his way to pour a cab blend I had my eye on by the glass instead of forcing me to buy the whole bottle, the«polish» of a fine dining establishment wasn’t there. And while it is called a «Café», in my opinion, they are going after the fine dining experience with the restaurant ambiance, entrees and prices. Our past experiences were rating 5 in service so I’d say expect great service. BLACKTRUFFLEBARATA:(Rating 5) This simple appetizer is delicious! I’ve had better in France, but I’ll tell you what, this is one of the better ones I’ve had here in the states. My only disappointment was that there was so little truffle it could hardly be tasted. The multi-texture of the cheese throughout was«well done». The taste is mild, but makes a statement and the slow roasted yellow tomatoes(almost tasting sun dried), make for a sweetly tart addition to a mouthful of cheesy goodness. You will need to add salt and pepper IMO FRENCHONIONSOUP:(Rating 3) It pains me to rate this a 3 as the cheese was amazing, it’s presentation was amazing as well. All of the ingredients were clearly of high quality as well, but the broth was a bit watered down and the soup was not seasoned well. While the lack of seasoning doesn’t usually annoy me as I can handle it to my own palette, because the cheese is so thick covering the soup there is no good way to season this after it’s cooked. PORKFLATIRON:(Rating 4) I chose this based on the waiters suggestion. It had a raspberry chipolata glaze, was served on a chive potato purée and came with seasonal vegetables. The taste of the dish was novel. It was smoky sweet with a tinge of tart and finished with mildly spicy nuance.(Not hot, but you know it’s there). I usually don’t like wine with anything spicy, but in this case the spice was not enough to cross that line. SALMON en PAPILOTTE:(Rating 5) This dish is cooked in a type of enclosed paper wrapper with carrots, leaks and grape tomatoes combined allowing juices and flavors to co-mingle and infuse each other. It’s a great way to cook salmon! The salmon was a large filet that was perfectly cooked with a wonderful flavor!

This place is a great spot for brunch in San Clemente within walking distance to the pier and ocean. Definitely a great al fresco option in San Clemente. Expect to wait long on the weekend(and deal with difficult parking to boot). Coffee and mimosa were pretty good as well as the crème brûlée french toast(huge serving; can get overwhelming if that’s all your having) and the artichoke and tomato eggs benedict(delicious). Although the food was good — it wasn’t very stand out or noteworthy. Service is pretty attentive. The only thing is the prices are extremely pricey for breakfast. The above for two people rang up to nearly 60 bucks for brunch. Definitely a spendy option for just ok food.

Date of visit: 3÷15÷2015 I’m only docking a star because it’s expensive, but if you’re okay with spending almost $ 80 on breakfast, then go for it, it’s definitely a 5 star experience. If you are coordinated and plan out what you want, you can definitely spend way less than $ 80, but we all just ordered ad hoc and paid the price afterwards. Make sure to ask for the prices when they list out the specials. A majority of what we ordered was based on what our waitress listed and had a bit of sticker shock at the end. I was looking up some brunch places in San Clemente since we all wanted a middle ground to meet up with Sara(shout out to my fellow Unilocaler!). There ended up being 9 people in our group, so I called ahead to see if that would be a problem. The lady on the phone was very nice and said that the earlier our group go there, the better it would be. Keep in mind that they do not take reservations for Sundays, so if you are thinking about a large group, make sure you all get there early. They will not seat you unless your entire party is present. We got there right at 9 and were easily seated inside. Here’s a quick run down of what Cam and I paid: 2 Coffees($ 5), 1 Mimosa($ 7), 1 Almond Croissant($ 7), Pork Belly Benedict($ 23) with Avocado($ 4), Scramble Plate($ 13) with Avocado($ 4), Tax($ 5.04), Gratuity($ 14). In hindsight, I would have split the Pork Belly Benedict with Cam and not ordered the mimosa or croissant. Keep in mind that there is a $ 2 charge to split plates. The avocado was definitely a must though, their chefs definitely know how to pick their avocados. Everything I ate was really great, although I was not impressed with the almond croissant as I feel the one from Opera Café is way better. The mimosa was also pretty standard, although they had quite a list of flavors to choose from — it was just a bit expensive for what I was expecting. Monica & Issac: They each got the Pork Belly Benedict($ 46), chocolate croissant bread pudding($ 7.50), 3 mimosas($ 21), and a coffee($ 2.50). While they both really liked their food, Issac was really unhappy with the price. He said that he has had breakfast on par with the quality of Café Mimosa for cheaper. He was also hoping that there would be more food considering the price. That aside, they both said that the food was great. Sara: Crème Brulee French Toast($ 16). This looked absolutely delectable and was topped with a compote of blackberries. Sara really enjoyed her meal, but has a smaller appetite so took about half of her meal to go. Stan: Brunch Special Omelet($ 23). I can’t remember exactly what was in the omelet Stan got, but he seemed to really enjoy his meal. He also got a mimosa, but didn’t really like how it tasted. I can’t remember the exact flavor, but it was flowery. Overall, I would totally eat at Café Mimosa every weekend if I was super rich. The quality of the food is great, the staff is super helpful and kind, and the ambiance is great. I’m only docking a star for the price, so it’s really a 4.5÷5 stars. If I was in the area, I wouldn’t mind coming back knowing what I know now, but I know that Issac definitely won’t be coming back.

Café Mimosa is really really expensive. The wait can be really long. But it is good. Located at the end of Del Mar’s main stretch in Downtown San Clemente, it is across from the community center with a yellow awning. In the morning, there is usually a crowd standing outside. The décor is cute and quaint. THe inside is tiny and the patio is large. Parking is free witin the surronding blocks. Get anything off the menu and it will be good. I recently had the $ 28 short rib benedict and it was deliciouso! If everything was $ 5 less this place would make more sense, but otherwise I am a fan!
