Rude middle eastern guy. Licks his fingers before scooping ice cream right after dealing with money. Best bang for your buck is probably the soft serve for 3 dollars.

Rip off! tiny single scoop in the cup($ 3.95) and they don’t even taste as good as thrifty’s($ 1.79) and half size of the thrifty’s single scoop. When we walked out the pier and saw the sign«ice cream», we felt want some ice cream without checking Unilocal reviews. Thinking how bad ice cream could be? It’s the worst ice cream I ever had. Rocky road has strange colorful rice crisp ball in it instead marshmallow and only tasted two of three bites of sliced nuts. Rice crisp adds weird texture to the ice cream. Service is ok. Cash only. I got it’s across street from the pier but the quality and portion were both poor for the price they charged. Avoid this place at all cost! You have been warned!!!

This grumpy old man just charged me $ 6 for 2 exceptionally poor quality and watery«espresso shots» which he begrudgingly added some skim milk to as «cream.» Worst. Coffee deal. Ever.

I wish had checked Unilocal before I walked in here. Guy is so rude and has a horrible attitude, he should not have this business! Expensive for tiny amount of ice cream and he puts you in a bad mood.

Extremely rude towards customers, RUDERUDERUDERUDEANDRUDE!!! Very expensive for the little that you get. You get a tiny single cone for $ 5. You get a small sno cone with minimal ampunt of ice for $ 4. Insanitary, touches scooper and cones after handling money. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Better off going across the street to the pier, a lot cheaper and get more for your money.

If there were 0 stars I would leave it. $ 5.45 for 1 small scoop of ice cream and $ 7.45 for 2 small scoops. Worst place in San Clemente.

Awful service and expensive. Lack of customer care is second to none. That might be the slogan written in the back office. «Let’s make people unhappy because everyone is happy around here!» Also lets charge $ 10 for two scoops of ice cream. This is my fault for not« Unilocaling» the business before :).

I visited this shop because I saw a bunch of people on the pier with ice cream and none of them looked disgruntled. I didn’t think I would get the deal of a lifetime from a small business located this close to the pier. I browsed a lot of shops in San Clemente and most of them were overpriced. Plus this guy probably has to pay rent and I’m sure it ain’t cheap. I got a good sized scoop in a waffle cone for $ 5. Now if Rite-Aid tried to sell me the same scoop of mediocre ice cream in a pre-made waffle cone any other day, I wouldn’t buy it. But I was at the beach and my car was parked way over there so I figured it was worth it. The ice cream was fine. It’s not freshly made or local or organic. It’s cheap ice cream and if that’s what you’re expecting, ITGETSTHEJOBDONE. Anybody who buys anything but the ice cream directly from the tub deserves to pay a lot for poor quality. There is nothing in that shop that makes me think, «let’s get a latte here.» I took one look at this dude and yeah, I thought he was middle eastern. I also realize that he probably works in that shop from open to close every day and he probably deals with a lot of idiots(anyone who has worked in retail can empathize with that one.) People who complain about the ice cream flavors and prices that are clearly listed. I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to punch atleast five people a day. I would if I were in his position. Yeah, the place is kind of messy, but oh well. Eat it outside where you can enjoy that wonderful ocean view everyone’s been raving about!

I just want to say I respect the amount of hours you put into your business. I could imagin from open to close. Yes the pricing is expensive but it comes with the location. I love the veiw and the pier. This was my first time here @9pm. I suggest you buy a Keruig since you could sell my wife a coffee because you had none made. My friend, clean your place up. Its cluttered and looks dirty although it my not be it looks it. I fill sorry for business owners who think they have to work every single hour of the day because they don’t trust no one to run it with out them. Thank you for the hot green tea you served my wife. She was cold and greatfull for it.

The absolute WORST coffee I’ve ever had, but good thing it was also really expensive. $ 8 for an iced latte with the cheapest espresso you could possibly ever use. The owner ripped me off, was rude and didn’t even fill my cup up, not that it would have helped, I’ve had better instant coffee than the garbage he serves. No idea how this scumbag is still in business. Avoid at all costs

Wow… I read all of the reviews, to see if I was feeling too harsh, but… nope, guess not. Me & the family have been coming to San Clem for a long time, but we gave up on this poor old dude years ago. Everything quoted below is on point — way too expensive, questionable quality, a dirty shop, and really poor customer service. Other than that, GREAT! Somehow, though, he’s the only ice cream vendor at the Pier, so he can get away with it. Every couple of years, we’re in a situation, babysitting or something, and we give him another chance… but like Charlie Brown and the football, same sad result. It’s almost comical. He’s just mean. The place reminds me of one of those weird New Yorker cartoons of the apartment with the peeling plaster and the dog scratching himself. Most important thing in this guy’s life is to make sure nobody from the pizza place next door ever sits in his chairs. Take the extra 10 minutes — and save a bunch of $$$ — and drive up the road to Rite-Aid.(Extra points, though, for the creative business name.)

Terrible place! The man that works there is ungrateful for having customers. Totally unpleasant guy to both the kids and adults. I will never give him my business again. Running an ice cream shop by the beach with a view of the ocean would make me happy, apparently not this grumpy guy. I guess I should have checked Unilocal first. Anyway, the ice cream is way over priced, he gives a tiny scoop for $ 2.95 on a small cone, the place is dirty, no seating and small selection of flavors. Don’t waste your money people!!!

Beach Ice Cream and Coffee is across the street from the San Clemente Pier. There is an ice cream place that has soft serve at the land base of the pier– these are two different establishments– don’t get it twisted. This place is a one man shw by an older man. The place is dirty and always empty. They do not have a napkin dispenser but he will give you a paper towel with your crappy $ 5 ice cream cone that comes already melted from his non air conditioned nightmare of a store. It is cash only and did I mention very dirty? Basically a tourist trap. You are better off throwing your money in the ocean and drinking the salt water.

Please stay away. The price is too high, as mentioned before. The menu is confusing and unclear. To sum it up, it was $ 17.95 for FIVESCOOPS of ice cream. Total ripoff. And my kids hated the ice cream to boot!

We came here specifically because it had only 1 star with 5 reviews! I’d never seen that before! This place is a little pricy compared to inland ice cream places, but very reasonably priced for a beach ice cream shop! $ 2.95 for one scoop is fine for the beach. Yes, the guy dips the ice cream scoop in one ice cream, then a different one, without rinsing thus mixing it a little bit together, but oh well. The ice cream tastes just like thrifty ice cream. Nothing to write home about but nothing bad! This place is three stars and two dollar signs. It totally has an undeserved rating. It was fun seeing what all the fuss… Or lack there of… Was all about.
