Dont bother. . These guys closed without a sign in the window. We waited 10 min in the morning thinking they were late. We were regulars. Not because the food was awsome because there is a shortage breakfast places in our area. But they shut down with no respect for their regular clients to at least have a proper goodbye sign !

Cute little normal breakfast spot — nothing stellar and nothing horrible. We got there and it wasn’t very crowded, were promptly seated, and given menus. Drinks were taken, conversation was had, orders were taken, consuming, and departure. What was ordered: French toasts with a side of bacon(smelled deliciously spiced. but the bacon looked precooked and slightly strange like… crusted and thicker?), but was devoured by my friends. Toast, eggs, and bacon(normal, runny yolk as ordered) Blueberry pancake was pretty huge …except I ended up getting the whole grain or flax seed pancake… that someone else ordered? The waitress apologized, but didn’t offer to take the pancake off the bill and we didn’t really want to reorder because it would take awhile for the pancake to be made, food would get cold, etc etc. Normal café breakfast shenanigans. It is a shame that they don’t have AC because my friends and I were boiling in the heat.

Had a really great Club Sandwich yesterday for lunch. I nearly walked down the street to Subway but I found this place randomly and walked in. Well worth the few extra bucks to get a quality lunch, made my entire day better. The french fries were really good, service was very quick and kind, and it was just a relaxing 45 minutes of a lunch instead of sitting in a Subway or Burger King or something. I can’t comment on the other hours of the day, I hear it gets busier. But for a relaxing lunch with really good food this is an awesome location to visit. I will definitely be back.

My partner and I came to this restaurant for the 1st time today since she works down the street. Walking in the service was great. My partner ordered the steak and eggs which she loved. I ordered the breakfast club and was satisfied until the end when I waa about to eat my last wedge and noticed the tomato on that part of the sandwich was molded. Informing the waitress she was very shocked and apologized for it. She took my plate back to the chef and in mins came back with it stating the tomato was just a burnt seed and handed my plate back. I had to refuse my food once again and asked for the manager. Informing the manager of everything and the fact I’ve worked in the food industry that what the waitress and chef did was completely wrong. Tobad that this experience has made to NEVER come back

The food never disappoints — this is a fact. On Sunday, while eating, I watched the waitress wipe her nose with the side of her hand before she delivered food to a table without washing her hand first. After, she went to the grill and assisted with cooking. I also witnessed the waiter eating corn on the cob in the kitchen and never saw him wash his hands either.

This is a spot you drive by all the time but just missed it. Went with my husband and our friend Scott. Their 3rd visit, my first. Breakfast is busy but we were seated right away. Service a little slow but food was good. My husband and I had the southwestern omelette, very good. Scott had the huevos rancheros. We were all good members of the clean plate club.

This is not the same place that got such high marks from other Unilocalers. They were understaffed at 9:00 in the morning on a holiday. A drunk sitting at the counter directed me to pick up the menus and seat myself when no one else greated me. 1 waitress, 1 busboy, a full dining room. Consequently, my food was delivered cold. Not their fault. My order was removed from the check, but only after I asked for it. I had only taken 2 small bites. I think it was the manager I told about the cold food. He did offer to have my order redone, with no apology. In fact, he practically ran right by me. I declined since the whole experience was so disappointing. I enjoy a meal when everyone with me eats at the same time. The price is high for such small portions. My friend and feel it’s not worth a second visit.

I’ve been to Ingleside many times, but haven’t been there for a while — just because it’s not super close. My husband and I went today for lunch, and I have to say it was YUMMY! I had the Peninsula crêpe, and it was so good — perfect avocado, well-cleaned, large shrimp — even the fruit side was good. I like their menu; there’s more selection and more upscale items than many places. I don’t think I’ve had a bad meal here ever, and today’s was extra good. The service was prompt, but I wasn’t sure if the waitress was happy we were there or not. Maybe it’s just the way she is. Bottom line… really good food and worth a visit!

I wanted to find a great breakfast place and this place came up as I always drive by it on the El and I had heard from a friend that it was good for lunch. Anyway we went there the day after Thanksgiving thinking it might be closed but no they were actually open. It was kind of confusing because it seems to be attached to a hotel so we were not sure where to enter and if it was only for the hotel. When we entered it was very warm and cozy, extremly inviting. We ordered specially coffe’s which were served in these really cute cups and were very good. I ordered the California Fritat and my BF got the Breakfast Club. Both of us were extremly satisfied with our meals. The staff was extremly friendly and offered great service. This place is moderately priced, great staff, and great food. I’ve already gone back and will continue to come. This is my new favority breakfast !

I hate to give this place a bad review because the service was pretty decent, but unfortunately the food and the prices just don’t live up to the service. The chocolate hazelnut waffle is just a regular waffle with Nutella on top… for $ 8. That’s a lot of money for maybe $ 0.50 worth of ingredients. For the same amount of money, you can get a scramble or any other dish. There’s lots of reviews about how you never have to wait. Well, this is probably one of the reasons.

Alternate Name = «Stacks Overflow» If you happen to be at the Redwood City Stacks, and the wait is just too long, just get back in the car and drive the 2 minutes to Ingleside Café. It’s not crowded, and the food is pretty good. That’s exactly what we did on our recent visit on a late Saturday morning. It had been a while since we were here, and I wasn’t sure if my girls remembered our visits here when they were toddlers; But they recognized it all right. Kids’ menus and crayons were available, but they opted-out due to focus on hunger. I really like the friendly, low-key atmosphere here. I recognized all the same wait staff from years ago. Service was very prompt and friendly. Our food arrived speedy-quick. I wasn’t so enamored with my huevos rancheros, which hit the spot, but were simply OK. Nevertheless, I recall the basic breakfast combos here are solid, with a homemade touch. My kids LOVED their breakfasts(pancakes and French toast). They have already asked for a return visit. As for a comparison with Stacks? To be honest, the food at Stacks is *slightly* better. But in most cases, that small difference doesn’t warrant a 20 minute wait.

Well this was a bummer. My best friend and I wanted some good hangover breakfast on his birthday. I rarely go out for breakfast on the Peninsula, so did a quick search, found this place, remembered coming here for dinner once and it being decent. There was an immediate failure in my not noticing they stop serving breakfast at 11:00. Booo! What about those of us who rise late, groggily, dreaming of eggs benedict? Or hell, breakfast for lunch can be great. So ok, we ordered sandwiches. Wanted a mimosa but saw none on the menu and a glass of champagne was 6 bucks. 3.50 for MGD or some other piss beer, and a pretty weak selection of ‘better beer’ at 5 a piece, so we just had water. I had a cajun chicken sandwich, my buddy got the California chicken, and I will admit that the food was quite good. Decent portion, well seasoned, nice ingredients — my sandwich had some particularly good roasted bell peppers. The side choices were fries or slaw, both tasty and freshly made. So ok, food fine. BUT, service, AWFUL!!! The waitress seemed impatient with us the moment we walked in, hovering around and rushing us to order. While we waited for our food my friend stepped out, and the waitress approached me. She sullenly glared around the table and said«So, just drinking water?» I said yes, to which she asked again, «nothing else?» no, I’m good. THANKS. Got our food fairly fast, and just as quickly the bill was literally thrown at us. I don’t think I even got a bite of my sandwich before I had to dodge that thing as it flew across the table. Yes, we were two slightly disheveled hungover 20-somethings. But come on, we don’t look like bums. We’re actually nice, polite young people who will tip well when the service is appropriate. Not so much here.

Stopped here for dinner on a whim. It was a step above somewhere like Denny’s, but not by much. I had a pork chop with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. The veggies were very good, as well as the house side salad. The chop was bland and unmemorable even though it came with a chutney on top. The mashed potatoes had a good flavor but a mysterious texture — kind of like pudding. At least you can say they didn’t come out of a box. I would give this another star if it weren’t for the prices. That pork chop was $ 14.99 and the salad was extra. My son had a kid’s meal that he liked, but I had to pay $ 2 for him to have milk with it when the meal was already $ 10. The prices didn’t seem in line with the food. The service was fine. Reading these reviews, if I go back it will be for breakfast.

Delicious wing appetizer, great teriyaki burger, okay fries, and okay coleslaw. I would rate it a 3.5 if I could, but the deduction is for the weird waitress and they forgot my coleslaw.

The wife and I, and our 20 month old, were driving up and down El Camino doing the old«Where do you want to eat? I don’t care, you decide» dance when we stumbled upon this place and thought we’d give it a try. Here’s the quick review: Atmosphere: Frumpy and deserted Service: Pleasant Food: Meh… But the reason I gave it two stars, and will never set foot back in the place, are the prices. 14 bucks for two measly pieces of fried cod and a couple fries… are you kidding?

Breakfast Anyone? You bet your pa-tooty you will get a great breakfast here. We left San Francisco and I wanted breakfast but the man said,“I want to get out of town before we eat.” We were on our way to San Jose and San Carlos was perfectly positioned for just out of SF and just before SJ. From the outside you can not see through the windows to see how busy it is in here. Because it was packed, and I didn’t see it through the window. They sat us one step into the place. Fast, fast, fast! I got the Crab Eggs Benedict. Forget your diet, forget your friends, forget anything you thought you loved. This Crab Eggs Benedict was so amazing you would have been hammering on the door the next morning, banging on it saying,“Open, Open, Open.“ My husband got the Belgian Waffle with Strawberry’s and Whipped Cream. I didn’t take a bite but he said 4.5 to 5 stars worthy. Take his word for it. Fast, & delicious? Just come here and don’t ask any questions.

A caveat: I haven’t had their breakfast here yet, so likely I’m holding out a star. So my friend lovingly calls this place the«old people café.» May or may not have a shade of truth to it. Came in for dinner on a weekday, place was virtually empty. I do like the rustic kind of aura they’ve got going on in there, and definitely a nice diner-y environment. Service was fine(as expected, as we were the only people there), so I can’t really reward or deduct points there. Got their teriyaki burger(teriyaki sauce, swiss cheese, mushrooms, beef and thats it) which was a nice surprise. Friend got a standard bacon cheeseburger(with thick cuts of bacon, nice!). We also ordered their cheesy garlic bread, which was not a highlight and kind of lackluster(ranch in the bread was a little weird, bread was lukewarm-room temperature). Will update when I try their breakfast

Who would’ve known that this place could be such a hidden little gem. I have passed by it several times and it never really appealed to me. It has a plain look to it and nothing really called out to me to go inside(I thought it was just another greasy spoon diner.) Boy, was I wrong! There was one cook there working behind the counter and he deserves a much better title than cook, because he was creating art back there with love and concern for each order. He was more like a short order chef! I ordered the Salmon sandwich special. It came out so beautiful, I should have taken a picture, but I was so hungry, it didn’t occur to me to take a picture until I was almost down to my last bite… Everything was FRESH, and absolutely amazing! Will definitely repeat!

One of Redwood City/San Carlos area’s best kept secrets! Passed by this place zillions of times but the tired looking sign and building never was enough to beckon me in there. However we were in a mood for breakfast and didn’t want to deal with the lines at Stacks, Dennys, IHOP, or Main Street… so remembered this place and was pleasantly surprised by this low-key homey and friendly place. Good selection of standard breakfast fare(eggs, pancakes, waffles) as well as crepes and frittatas. Mexican omelette(4 stars, $ 9.99) — HUGE omelette with generous portions of egg, sausage, and avocado inside with salsa on the side. Big portion of potatoes on the side and toast oo. The omelette was very tasty and I ate the whole dang thing. Wish the potatoes were a bit more browned or had a bit more flavor but was too full from the omelette anyway. Side of 2 pancakes(3.9 stars, $ 5.99) — good sized thick pancakes — tasted fresh but slightly bit chewy. But LOVED the little bottle of warmed syrup they brought with the pancakes… such a nice touch. Service was very friendly and warm — nice welcoming greeting and very nice goodbye. Homey and reasonably clean. Lots of parking on the side lot. Was busy inside but still some open tables so we got seated quickly. Bottom line: Maybe slightly more expensive than other breakfast places, but definitely love the homey and friendly feel with large tasty portions. You bet I’ll be back. Keep that syrup warm for me…
