Dutch Crunch! MMMMMmmmmzzzzzammmm, Gherkins has the crunchy crunch! Was craving a sandwich but my usual spot was closed(almost 4pm) but Gherkins was open and had quite a few ppl in there grabbing late afternoon sandwiches. The place could be a little cleaner(kinda sticky tables & floors), but the menu had some winners. The Station 13, I believe it was called(Dutch Crunch, pepper jack, avocado and chicken) caught my eye. It was very yummy, but the chicken was kinda meh, reminded me of the frozen chicken I feed my dog. So if I go back I would skip the chicken and go for a deli meat option or just veg. Lastly, I am usually the one with the bloodshot eyes reaking like dank, but whooooaaaa nelly!!! The guys working here must of had that LOUDLOUD!!! As my parents would say, the place smelled like a «Pot Factory». Give it up one time for ya hard working stoners!

5 stars for great service, and a pretty darn tasty sandwich, too. Love that pesto is considered a free condiment!

Really enjoy the sandwiches here. Hard to find a better sandwich spot. They have a ton of different options to choose from. So most likely there will be a sandwich that fits what you’re looking for. They also have garlic fries which are pretty solid. It takes a little longer for the food to be prepared than some other sandwich places but the wait it well worth it.

I love this place. The sandwiches are good and size is generous but what really makes this place are the guys who work here. The owner(or manager, I’m not sure) puts the customer first always. It’s rare to find amazing service these days, especially on the peninsula but these guys care about the job they do and it’s why my family keeps coming back. There are a lot of options around here when it comes to good sandwiches but none of them treat their customers as well as Gherkins.

Sandwich places are freaking everywhere. And you know what? Most all of them suck. When it comes to sandwiches, Gherkins goes about it the right way. Probably about the best sandwich going. I need to try their other stuff. Take my word for it, I am a picky bastard.

This sandwich shop is really a notch above nearly all of the sandwich shops in this vicinity. Their sandwiches possess great flavors, some unique, and are well-spiced, and they have a great variety of choices along with lots of tasty and healthy vegetable toppings if one wants that option. The portions are generous, and the prices are quite reasonable. Gherkins is not only a standout in terms of flavor, but also a great value at the same time. I grew up on Long Island and lived in Manhattan for seven years. I entertained lots of clients in both Manhattan and San Francisco at top restaurants. I have been exposed to lots of great Delis and also restaurants in these cities known for great food, thus I have a pretty high standard. I have submitted Zagat reviews in the past. There is no question these guys deserve this five star rating.

Love this place!!! I’m not usually a big sandwich person but my husband talks about this place all the time so I finally went with him. Turns out they make many other delicious things besides sandwiches, awesome salads and the burger was SOOGOOD! All in all this place is a great addition to laurel street, a delicious non pretentious place to grab a bite while being served with smiling faces. Kid friendly as well as adult friendly, both dine in and take out.

Good local sandwich shop(and the guys running it are incredibly nice). They even gave us extra Gherkin pickles on the side with our order! But I struggle call this place a 4 star sandwich spot. 3.5 stars… sure. But it was nothing spectacular where I would start dreaming about the sandwich in my sleep. If you want a fresh sandwich with quality ingredients, this is the place for you! But at the end of the day, it struggles to differentiate itself from any other sandwich shop on the street.

The sandwiches are good, but I can’t get past the lack of cleanliness. The thick black grease everywhere is disgusting. Your feet slide on the floor when you walk on it. The soda machines look like they have never been cleaned. The kitchen area looks very dirty as well. If you are going to have an open kitchen you need to work twice as hard to keep things clean. The employees wear«magic gloves». The kind where you can touch everything in sight and still touch food without there being any cross contamination. If they spent a couple hours cleaning at the end of the day it would go a long way. Until it is cleaned up I won’t be back. Not worth the risk of getting sick.

The guy who took my order was so funny!!! His name is Joey(I heard him say his name on the phone). he’s also really handsome! Lol. but anyway, he has awesome customer service and is hilarious. He made me smile and feel super welcomed. He was totally accommodating, patient, and professional. Plus the sandwich was huge and so freaking yummy.

AMAZING! If you guys haven’t eaten here you’re definitely missing out. I used to come here everyday when I was working in San Carlos and I probably tried every item on their menu! & just when I think it cant get any better, it does! They have so many different sandwiches to choose from and you can even create your own & get as creative as you like :) The service is great, they’re always quick & speedy and on top of all their orders. Very clean & organized. The owner RAMI is super cool too! Love that guy

First time here for a quick lunch. The sandwich(chicken, bacon, avocado with everything in Dutch crunch) was excellent. The staff was very friendly. Need to come back to try the Nutella, peanut butter and marshmallow sandwich, and the peanut butter bacon sandwich! Food Quality — Excellent Food Taste — Excellent Food Originality — Excellent Price — ~$ 10/sandwich Customer Service — Excellent Ambiance — Hole in the wall

Went in with my friend and her 3 year old to get little one a snack. Cool guy at the counter didn’t charge for just an apple since the order technically comes with an apple with peanut butter. A free apple isn’t a big deal if you’re a customer but the gesture won then points because who does that anymore? Good business. Local company who cares about people and little ones. Highly recommend supporting them. I know we’ll be back.

Very slow service during breakfast takeout. My husband went inside to put in the order and it took 50 minutes to fill a breakfast order. RIDICULOUS. They did mention they were filling a huge order but 50 minutes is just crazy. At least give us a voucher for the inconvenience. I will not be returning. The food does not even stand out drastically from other sandwich shops to justify the wait time.

Lots of hole in the wall sandwich places bring something special to the table, but this place was kind of plain. They offer a variety of huge sandwiches for under $ 10, with the option to customize. However, the ingredients are all pretty bland and tasteless, except for their bread, which was super fresh.

Frustrated — ordered a sandwich online yesterday and drove across town to pick it up. Dealt with traffic and parking and when I got there at 6:25pm, the cleaning crew was there and they were closed. Their all-day menu shows that you can order online up until 6:45pm and Unilocal says they’re open until 7. The cleaning crew saw my order and I even got a confirmation saying the order was received. If you’re going to close, update your hours online and on your online ordering system. Even more annoyed that no one reached out to apologize for the inconvenience. Poor customer service.

Delicious Sandwiches but pricey! Boyfriend and I came in for lunch one day, ordered two sandwiches, fries and two sodas for $ 30! For Sandwiches?! I could get 3, maybe 4 sandwiches for that price. but their sandwiches are delicous. I had a laurel street(Chicken, bacon, avocado, jack cheese on sourdough). The sourdough roll was amazing, and the sandwich was warm but not too hot. Their fries were very good, reminded me of Plaza Gourmet fries in Foster City. Small restaurant, not much seating inside. Inside seats maybe 12?
