Out of all the Filipino restaurants I’ve ate at, Ihaw Ihaw was and forever will be the best! They aren’t that expensive and the food is SOGREAT! Their portions are just right and it definitely fills you up! The waiter was nice as well. I’m so sad that they closed down. They were the real deal. If you want real Filipino food, this restaurant was definitely the place to be! I miss you Ihaw Ihaw! lol

I came here a year ago, and I must say, they have some really good Filipino food. We ordered fried Calamari, Kare Kare, Crispy Pata, Sisig and a bunch of other food(sorry don’t remember). But out of all the other Filipino joints I’ve been to in the area(Patio Filipino, Intramuros), this is by far my most favorite of them all. Down right home cooking at it’s best! If you haven’t tried Filipino food before, then this should be your first stop. Update: I’m looking at one of the reviews and they said they are close and under a new name?! Hopefully they are just as good.

Ihaw Ihaw is now CLOSED! Apparently, they changed management, chefs, ownership, EVERYTHING several weeks ago! It is now called Isla Restaurant. LINK —

(e-HOW e-HOW) Meaning, «BBQ, or grilled» Ok; So I thought I had it down… knew a few phrases well in Tagolog. been to my fair share of parties in my lifetime, with the fresh lechon, embutido, empanadas, lumpia, turon, pancit bihon and palobok, lumpia, turon… you know… getting full of myself(sigh sigh)… Then last night, I had genuine, authentic Filipino fare, and low I laid my head, realizing that I knew JACK! about what I thought I knew! To my luck, I had just congregated with some fellow Filipina coworkers for the morning, and to my right that night, sat a nice new acquaintance who also was filipina. The learning curve was steep… and ON Wow… such new wonders to my eyes and mouth. MYFAVES: Caldereta: braised goat in a tomato based stew. Very fall-off-bone yummy without any presupposed gamey-ness. Sisig: fajita-like marinated cubed pork on an iron platter along with onions and green onions Bangus(filipino milkfish)…grilled and very meaty, mild like trout or tilapia Kare Kare: Mm mmm good: a yellow based stew of oxtail and tripe with some root veg and a satay-like base. Think there was some coconut milk too? Now i must say, as tasty as this was, the cuts of oxtail were not of the best quality… The butcher simply forgot to trim more of the fat off, and that part wasn’t such a hot experience. Skewers of grilled pork and chicken with an exact tandoori-like color came out pretty moist and flavorful. The desserts: holla for halohalo!!! Chacha was ok; so was the taopioca gulaman… was so looking fwd to the last one, as highly reco’ed by coworkers. Nah… can’t say anything memorable about it. Dishes I simply didn’t understand: Laing: over sauteed, super salty gabi leaves that were the hue of army green once greens are overcooked! Think they use coconut milk plus fish sauce to sautee… Lumpiang sariwa: fresh large lumpia with only veg, slathered with a cornstarch-laden very sweet, sticky brown sauce. Large slice of napa cabbage sticking underneath as a base that looked like a caudal fin. Or, for that matter, Ginataan: the vegetable root crop/tuber dish that came out entirely pink due to the ever-so-salty pink shrimp paste(very very acquired taste. Chinese have s/th similar, of which I too am not a huge fan of). OK: Lastly the INNARDS in BLACKPORKBLOOD stew, aka ‘dinuguan’… cannot ever even teaspoon portion that one again. I’ve tried it, patted myself on the back, and say, batting my lashes, «No thanks. Pass, please» So why the 3 stars? The décor was… decorless… the feeling inside was honestly a cross between an unfinished declase hacienda and a barebones Mexican home. No joke; what a storespace… they could do wonderful things to bring warmth and a cultural fondness to the Phils. Everything was sticky, from my chair to the bathroom, to the tabletop, and it’s always been one of my pet peeves. However, with that bein said, I must say, overall the experience was more a 3.6 stars, for the server was ever so accommodating with our large group, and the service was outstanding. Dishes were flying out… amazingly fast. Plate portions were large.

We have not had a lot of filipino food so we are not authority on it. But this was very pleasant experience. It is a nice homey place with friendly service. The menu contained a lot of protein but it was delicious and would definitely get again. Slaig — diced pork onion and jalapenos Crispy Pata — deep fried pork leg Sk Combo — string beans and squash in coconut milk Bistik — beef slices with onion, soy sauce, and lemon Sinangag — Garlic Fried Rice

The food is A-OK at Ihaw Ihaw, which means«grilled» in Tagalog. However, I would just put it at a notch below Kuya’s which is a couple doors down. I’ve had a whole bunch of items here including the kare kare which is good, but most recently came here to grab some silog plates. Silog plates are basically dishes served with garlic rice and two eggs. Longaniza + garlic rice + eggs = long-silog. etc. Ordered up a pork adobo silog — which had good flavor but there were some really fatty like pure fat, liposuction fat pieces mixed in there.( ) … I snuck in a a few tasty but hazardly bites while my wife enjoyed her sisig silog(grilled and diced pork with onion and jalapeño).( ) 3.5 stars and I would say this place is better for groups than Kuya’s but Kuyas has a private room.

The food is good, but the wait time to actually get your food is HORRIBLE. The customer service is non-existant. They serve your food and water and never check on you ever again. I swear, it took like an hour to get our 4 items(for our party of 4), never got our water refilled, and it took another hour until we were able to flag someone to get the check and to-go boxes. And this was during lunch when there were only 2 other customers inside. Like I said, the food was good enough but spending 2 or 3 hours for what is supposed to be a quick lunch is not the ideal way I’d like to spend my time. Will not be returning again.

We weren’t intending to come here, but since Tselog’s was closed in Daly City. the moms suggested this place after church. Our stomachs were already grumbling and mine felt like it was eating itself. so we rushed on over. Tip.there is parking in the back of the restaurant. The place is small, minimally decorated. but the food more than made up for that! For appetizers we started off with the calamari… I like how they serve vinegar as the dip… different. but definitely in a good way. I ordered the bangsilog. which is the bangus(milkfish) that comes with garlic and 2 eggs. it was cooked to perfection and I gobbled it down. Moms ordered the longsilog. longanisa(sausages).she scarfed it down also! And lastly, my sis got the sisigsilog… I loved how the sisig was not as fatty as usual. I guess you can say a «healthier» version. but still tasty none the less! This was a good change from our last couple of weeks at Tribu grill… I will definitely be back!

The food here was good but nothing special. The service was quite good and the server was friendly. I wanted the pork skewers with rice and was informed they have that as a breakfast with two fried eggs. I ate it all and enjoyed it but there was just something missing. My friend had pork sisig(spelling?) which I liked but he did not as much. For an apetizer we got Lumpiangs(sorry hope I got the spelling right on this one too). These were essentially deep fried pork rolls. They were quite good, brought out very hot and served with an especially delicious sweet and spicy dipping sauce. They gave us more than plenty. The mango drink was good but watered down with ice. With all that said, there were a few tables that got soups. Although I did not try them they certainly looked delicious so bet the soups are the thing to get here. If you are in the neighborhood and/or looking for a nice sit-down meal I would suggest trying it out. If you are looking to go out on a trek for good Filipino food I would suggest you pass.

It seems to me that the best Filipino food is up here. With Bistro Luneta, Ongpin, Kuyas, all in the vicinity. Next stop, Ihaw Ihaw. We ordered bulalo, sisig, kare kare, pancit, and laing. The sisig, as usual, was our favorite. Keep in mind, that we are used to the sisig from SoCal that has the skin on still(lechon kawali). However, this«healthier» version hit the spot. Everything else was good, too, but a tad too salty. But, nothing like a little more rice on the spoon can’t fix! Yeah, I said it. I’m eating with a fork AND spoon here! At least I’m not doing it «kamay-style!» In the end, we were stuffed. We were going to head to House of Sylvana or Mitchell’s for dessert, but we just didn’t have anymore room. I guess another 45 minute trip is in order soon. As for parking, it’s either on the street or in the back. Being that we went early on a weekend, we found some good parking on the street. The service was good, too, considering they gave me weird looks for being Filipino and not knowing Tagalog. I should really learn more than just the bad words and food.

Delicious chicken tinola(chicken ginger soup) and grilled bangus. Service is plain but fast. Food is surprisingly light for a Filipino place, and the price is great for what you get. I’ll be back to review their entire menu item by item.

Love this place. Portions are huge and food is excellent. Prices are also very reasonable. We come here every few weeks with the entire family. Service is fast and friendly. What more can I say. This place is a winner. We typically order the Beef Sinigang, Sizzling Bulalo, Bihon, and Sisig. Sometimes I’ll order Halo-halo as well.

My friends are always talking about Ihaw Ihaw, and it was making me crave Filipino food. I’ve never eaten here, so when my friend said he wanted to grab dinner, I said…“We’re going to Ihaw Ihaw!” The restaurant was pretty easy to find. Its kind of hard to miss the big giant red and green neon sign outside. I haven’t eaten Filipino food in a long time, so we ended up ordering alot of food. We could’ve fed a family of 4 with the amount of food we had! We ordered lumpiang shanghai( ), kalderetang baka( ), sisig( ), kare kare( ), lechon kawali( ), and halo halo for dessert( ). The food was yummy! My favorites were the sisig(diced grilled pork) and kalderetang baka(beef stew). We definitely ordered way too much food… we had leftovers of every dish. The halo halo was a good way to end the meal, but I felt like I had to be rolled out of there. Good food… good service… I’ll be back for more!

My boss and I were doing some work in the city of San Bruno. She is Filipino and suggested Ihaw Ihaw because she enjoyed eating here with her family for its authentic Filipino cuisine in the Penninsula. I have no objection to that, because of its high-rating this restaurant is also one of my earlier bookmarked businesses. We started with the Fried Calamari as our opening Appetizers. For $ 9.00, the dish had a bunch of calamari deep-fried and lightly battered with the specialty spicy sauce. Not a bad beginning for our lunch. Sorry no photos, because we were so hungry and quickly devoured those appetizers. She had the popular Pancit dish(soft vermicelli noodles). I’m not sure the name of her noodle dish, but her dish had pieces of chicken and assorterd vegetables. She also order a drink that had pearls & gelatin in a syruppy shaved ice. Again, I don’t know the name, but the drink looked refreshing though. I had the Pork Inihaw as my entrée and a side of garlic-flavored rice. For $ 10.00, my dish had strips of marinated porks and grilled to perfection. My pork dish also comes with a mixture of Soy Sauce, Vinegar and Garlic for me to dip the pieces. My $ 2.00 bowl Garlic-rice was very flavorful and two paired very well. Yes, I do have a picture of the pork dish: We went our separate ways with our bill. I paid my meal in cash, and co-worker used her Visa here, in which the restaurant also accepts. The staffs were very friendly to us and encourage me to bring my family here for dinner. With the good food and service, I might take up on their offer and do that.

This is the first Filipino restaurant I have ever been to. And after trying other places… this will remain my last. This place is really authentic, and I guess more from the region I favor — food wise. The Sisig, Kare Kare, Beef Sinagang, Fried Calamari, and Shrimp Something In Coconut Sauce are my favorite. I like the Fried Fish here too, only on the days that it’s not horrendously salty. The service is always consistent and good. Prices are super reasonable. Place is clean. Definitely a place I suggest. Especially for those, that are all about their families home cooking. This is just like eating at home.

LOVETHISPLACE! Been here more than I can count, but I guess living literally 1 minute away, and being able to walk in through the back entrance is a plus. Upon walking in the décor isn’t so bad. Paint looks fresh, tables look nice, and the chairs are comfy. So I can’t complain there. Their dinner ware is clean too. So no issues there about that, and that’s a real big deal to me wherever I eat. I don’t think I’ve really eaten anything that was bad or gross here. I can’t even list what I’ve had. Literally almost everything. Some of my favorites though are: Kare Kare, Pancit Miki Bihon, Beef Sisig, and their Cripsy Pata. I know I have more, but they just aren’t coming to mind right now. Their portions are big too! Totally family style, even their breakfast! I’ve only had their Langsilog, but there was plenty enough to share if I wanted to. I’m pretty sure whatever you get will be good. Ordering for pick up is my way to do it. Just to avoid the wait that is almost imminent at almost anytime you go, but during the week it isn’t so bad. I guess I’m biased on that part just because I live so close, and can eat at home. But there has been the few times where I’ve gone, and there was no line at all, so I can be wrong about that. Reason for the 4 stars only though… SERVICE. Slow and not really attentive to your needs. Depends though I guess on how many people are there. You need to literally stop them and ask for what you need, like refills on your water and what not, but you get what you need… eventually. Other than that, go here for great Filipino Food!

Great yummy authentic Filipino food! This place was packed on Friday night. We had to wait for 30 minutes but it was well worth it! After previously dining at the competitors near by, we finally found one that had good food, service, and prices all in one restaurant. The décor had minimal decorations and a plain paint color but the customers and service staff were very pleasant. We had the opportunity to place our order in prior to being seated, so the food came out FAST! Almost felt rushed when we sat down, but they were just trying to accommodate everyone. Once settled in, we enjoyed our 2 friends and Unilocal food recommendations! Coco ChaCha drink(Vanilla ice cream, gelatin, yam, rice crispies & milk) /Pork Sisig(HOT chopped jalapenos & onions were awesome) /Beef Mechardo(so tender) /Sitsaron Bulaklak(OMG heart attack) /Garlic fried rice(yum-age)!!! Surprisingly only $ 51 bill + tip! We couldn’t finish all the food so I was happy to take home left overs! Yippee, breakfast!

This place is just like going to a relative’s party where you know that they’ll serve the best Filipino food ever, so you fast a day before, just so you can maximize your food intake. And the best part is that there is BAON for the next day! SCORE! We tasted their Pancit, Lumpia, Pinkabet, Kari-kari, Lechon Kawali, Sisig, and Rice! Everything was good and I, as an avid lumpia roller, just want to say that who ever rolled the lumpia gets props cause those things were perfect. Bravo! This place is great for a large group because you can order various things to try and share. The food is on the heavy side so if you want a light meal, do not go here! This is Filipino style home cooking and it is savory and hearty.

I liked this place more than Barrio Fiesta and a lot more than Gerry’s in Union City. The portions are really reasonable here. Service was great, the food came on time, and they were able to cater to a large party easily. Update(08÷19÷07): Just took my family there yesterday. Sisig yes. Tapsilog plate yes. Crispy pata, yes even though its pricey but they give a lot. Calamari is alright, but not the ba-mi. I’m definitely hitting up Kuya’s next time.
