My Mom has been getting her hair cut by Elena for some time now, and absolutely loves her. I thought it fitting to write a review for her.(BTW, this is the second«Mom review» I’ve done, as she wouldn’t even begin to know how to use Unilocal or what it is, so you’re welcome!) Elena is awesome, professional, and great at what she does. She’s also super quick, without being messy, which is hard for a stylist. She’s done my hair a few times too, and I’ve loved it each time. I do agree with some previous reviews that some stylists are better than others, but you’ll definitely find that Elena is one of the best, and if you get your hair cut by her, you’ll become a regular. Thanks for making my Mom happy, Elena!

I’ve been going here for over 5 years and recommended various people. They do a great job BUT they are never on time. I spend more time waiting around than getting services done. I’m done with this salon because of this reason. If you are going to charge high end prices then at least treat your customers with respect.

I love getting my haircut by Tabitha. I have been her client for years and she always makes my hair look and feel amazing! Make an appointment with her, you won’t regret it!

Got my hair butchered. I am new to San Antonio and went to this Visible Changes just because I had a great experience at one of their Houston locations. I asked for someone who could achieve a specific color I’ve had months ago; light highlights and soft lowlights for contrast. The manager sent me to David. He talked like he knew how to go about the the color I wanted. I kept referring to the photo I had on my phone of my hair. After 3 hours of highlights and«breaking the base» I was a red head. Not happy I told him it’s red and dark. He blamed the shampoo assistant and said he’d fix it by putting more highlights. When I saw what he did I couldn’t hold back tears. He bleached the entire top of my head. The manager offered to fix it with a more experienced colorist even though I had no idea the one he had sent me to was a low experienced colorist to begin with. I have an audition in LA in 5 days. I don’t know what to do.

I scheduled my appointment the day before and had to be worked in. I have been cursed with very thick, naturally curly hair, which I only wear straight. For these reasons, I have a forgiving attitude toward my stylist. She was kind, professional, and friendly. However, I specified that I wanted a shoulder-length cut, with only a couple of long layers in the back and a face-frame in the front. I even showed a picture of my hair from two years ago, when I had the ideal cut. My stylist proceeded to give me a chin-length, angled, bob with tons of short layers in the back. This cut is an absolute nightmare for someone with hair like mine. Also, other employees kept coming around to remind my stylist that she was running behind and had other customers waiting. I was scheduled with a master stylist, so this unpleasant experience, and haircut that I cannot attractively fix at home, cost $ 72. The salon is nice, and the employees were friendly, welcoming, and professional, I just don’t recommend it if you have difficult hair that requires a lot of patience, focus, and listening to your needs.

I have been here three times and appreciate the concept. However, this past visit made me lose some respect for them. I believe that people should get a certain level of service no matter what. Even though someone doesn’t have a scheduled time for a blow dry after a 150 dollar color, shouldn’t mean you should have to stand up in the middle of the salon, purse in tow, to put your wet hair up in a clip to leave. A colorist should have the time to check your color and get positive feedback before sending you off to a cashier. Won’t be back!

Although hair grows back, it can be extremely tragic to get a bad cut. Luckily, I have had great luck with all of the stylists from Visible Changes. For the past year and a half I have been coming to this location to get my hair cut. This location is very clean and I have had a good experience with all the employees. Pros: — they can usually take walk-ins — I have always been very satisfied with my hair — they have good shampoo/conditioner — comfy waiting area and good amount of couches Cons: — can’t schedule online without calling for a username and password

I recently moved from Dallas to San Antonio and I was searching for a new hairstylist. I came across Visible changes and they had great ratings on Google. Unfortunately this place has disappointed me more than any other Salon I’ve ever been to. Melissa the hair director who teaches hair color techniques did my color and literally turned it from dark blond to almost black. I told her I initially wanted to go darker and I did show her a picture that had ombré and we finally decided no to do the ombré and just have it darker. The color turned it too dark and it looks so cheap. I wish she’d told me that she wouldn’t be able to get it to the shade I wanted instead of having me sit for 2.5 hours and finally go home with a color that I hate.(by the way she never even came to ask about the result; whether I like it or not!!!) I’m not a picky person at all and I understand that sometimes peoples’ expectations can not be met but to get y hair THIS dark is what I still don’t get. I won’t be able to go lighter for months now because my hair will break. I totally hate the color and wish I could back time and skip that appointment. On top of everything I never got to have he haircut with Evelyn because I finished the hair color appointment at 1.15 and and my haircut appt was scheduled at 2(they never told me this) so they started looking for someone who could give me a haircut instead. Casey finally did the haircut she did a good job and was sweet. All in all I’m not happy at all with this experience. I wish i could give it no stars .will never return.

I recently moved back to Texas after being gone for 15 or so years and needed a styles to could trust. I am a snob when it comes to my hair and who cuts it and I took a chance VC. I just called in and randomly was placed with Vanessa. She was fantastic in all aspects of her job. When Vanessa took maternity leave she set me up with Casey and she was just as phenomenal! I would recommend both in a heart beat and they are the reason why I keep coming back every two weeks. The supporting staff from the front desk, appointment schedulers, and the guys and gals that take the payments have worked flawless every time I have been in, and young gentleman knowing my name before I say it is huge, I don’t know his name so I get 0 stars but am going to make it a point to get to know his name the next time. Also the staff that will sometimes do the shampoo before I am met by Casey or Vanessa have been great and those staff members can sometimes still be new but you wouldn’t be able to tell. This group works as a team, I’ve sat back and observed while waiting for my appointment and they communicate with each other and customers as well. I could go on and on about my haircuts in detail but like all stylists they ask what you’re looking to do for the cut and style. Now remember they can’t see your vision of the haircut, some might, but it helps if you can describe it to a tee or find a picture on your phone and go from there. Why you ask? Because I’ve seen too many 1 – 3 stars because of clients not being able to get in on time. Answer: Schedule accordingly, YOU, the customer not the stylist, have your new look as a picture on your phone to eliminate wasted minutes on your hair appointment and for God sakes don’t have an appointment 20 – 40 mins after your let’s say 45 – 60 min haircut. This way it leaves time so when the customer before you or even three customers before you decided to question length, texture, or style of their cut the time making it look perfect is still in a buffer zone and not half way through your next appointment. Perfect world is banging out appointments exactly on time, and for 99% of the time I’ve had no issues, but I have also scheduled accordingly. Price is extremely reasonable, and I have paid 10 – 20 dollars more for a haircut in other cities. In the end these guys and gals are great and I highly recommend you call them up and schedule an appointment, just make sure you give yourself a little wiggle room for the appointment after your haircut and you have to have a mindset with and during holiday weeks things might be off a little bit due to walk ins and over abundance of appointments. And you habitual one star reviewers, go in with an open mind and a pic of what you’d like as a cut and style don’t forget the wiggle room as well, parking is not fun at La Cantera, and no it’s not Visible Changes’ fault. Ok, so call Visible Changes up and book with Casey and or Vanessa and let these phenomenal stylists take your hair style to the next level.

I cried after my haircut. I talked to the manager and his attitude was very stand-offish and rude. I would give my overall experience negative stars, but that’s not possible. The only good thing was that I got my money back

Price scale varies according to level of stylist. Remember, you get what you pay for! La cantera location Christine does great color! I have been going to this location since they opened about 5 years ago, they also have a location at North Star mall. Also book online and save 10% on your service!

Here goes… — Get ready to sell your first unborn child. Just Kidding! The prices at this place are outrageous and I’m appalled with their lower level employees. — I’ve had my hair colored there by Jamie and Riley. Both are great. I recommend those two for color. There is a lady there named, «Melissa.» She’s good but also knows she’s good. She thinks way too highly of herself… Ugh! — Cut, Bianca is great. Nice gal. — When your colorist is finished with highlights the lower level employees(who don’t know whether or not to wind their butts or scratch their watch) wash your hair and then do the treatments. In my opinion, the colorist should be doing that… That’s what I’M PAYINGYOUTODO! The lower level employee’s just down right stink. I realize there learning and I get that… However, when I walk out of there with a $ 250.00 bill I expect«GREAT» service. — What upsets me the most… I think the colorist and the stylist do a good job. I’ve been there now 7 or more times and I think its time for me to break up with them and find a new place. Good Luck!

Amelia did an amazing job on my color and highlights. $ 135 for both, I think that is very reasonable considering my hair is past my shoulders.

I am shocked by the overall reviews for this place. This is the only place my husband and I trust with our hair… We moved BACK to Texas so Prissy could cut my his hair. OK, not really but when we decided to move back to SA after five years in Virginia, one of the things my husband was most excited about was having his stylist back. Literally, the entire time we were in VA, he was not able to find anyone to cut it as well as Prissy. Even when we came to SA to visit his family, he made sure to get in at least one haircut! She is my stylist as well(tho my husband is adamant that since he found her first, he gets to claim her as his haha) and one of the few people I have ever(in 30+ years) trusted with cutting my long, curly hair. She also did my BFFs hair for her wedding and did a fab job. She is incredibly professional, wonderfully skilled, and a pleasure to chat with while you’re in her chair! We followed her from North Star to La Cantera and will be loyal customers for life.

I have no other choice but to give this place and his manager Michael one star, I wanted to give 0 but I have to at least to give one, unfair. I’m so glad I was stopped, due to the circumstances, and to the«manners» and attitude of Michael from getting my hair cut in this place. Thank you, Michael! Because thanks to your poorly skills dealing with new customers, and your fake personality I found a place that I absolutely love! I was referred so highly about this place and it felt so low in my expectations that I will stop any of my friends and people I know from going up this place. You are looking for great hair cut and service? Go to Designers hair salon on 1604 and Bitters. Trust me your money will be well invested. Thanks to this place my hair looks gorgeous, because I end up finding a true gem! And it wasn’t Visible Changes. Thanks!

I always leave Visible Changes La Cantera feeling like a rock-star! The salon is gorgeous, there is so much natural light, and there are always smiling faces that help you over the hustle and bustle. Creative Director Logan Magz has over 20 years of experience and it shows. He is not only able to show you trendy options for your hair style, but he has a knowledge of Paul Mitchell products that help you get your scalp in the best condition to facilitate healthy hair growth. He has taught me that investing in my hair really pays off in the long run. If you want to love the hair you have, ask for Logan! He can also refer you to a great colorist if you’re looking for that as well. Imke Cervantes is the only person I trust to do my brow waxing now. She is sweet, great conversation and does a wonderful job keeping my brows snatched just right! When you call, Zachary McLeod will take great care of you! It is no surprise this salon has won so many industry awards.

I can understand why this location has such bad reviews, I have never gotten a particularly warm overall vibe here, and I would be lying if I said I hadn’t witnessed some unprofessional behavior here, but your experience also has a lot to do with the people you choose to see. I am very anal about my hair and putting it in a strangers hands scares me(as it does most girls) because I have done all the wrong things before. Luckily, I found two really good people at this location. I see Janie for my hair cuts. She cut my roommates hair and I liked it so much that I decided to go see her myself. She is one of the higher level stylists so it’s a little more expensive, but I would honestly pay any amount for a really good haircut. She is very nice and I will continue to go see her and recommend her to others. For coloring, I see Riley. I used to strictly get highlights in my hair and would only go to this one stylist in Houston(because that’s where I’m from)…I’ve lived in San Antonio for about three years now and finally decided last semester that it was time to find someone closer. Color is a scary thing so I also decided to go with a higher level stylist(Riley is a Color Director) and for the first time in my life decided to go darker instead of lighter. I told her I was nervous about it and she went way out of her way to explain the different color options(with color samples next to my face) and what would look good and what she didn’t recommend. Not only that, but I think she is probably one of the sweetest people I have ever met! The color turned out great and she did a great job at making it look natural. I will stay loyal to these ladies and as I can’t speak for the rest of the staff members, I can at least vouch for Janie and Riley’s professionalism.

Christine is a great colorist. Sandra is great, too. Janie is the best for cuts. I have also heard great things about Miss Evelyn. Zachary is the best receptionist in San Antonio. Does anybody know what happened to the tip jars? Love to you all, Nicole«Nikki» Berger

Why didn’t I check Unilocal first!!! Visible Changes had glowing five star reviews everywhere else online(undoubtably fabricated) and I thought I’d give it a shot. I had the worst haircut experience of my life. My head is throbbing in pain, which I had no idea could result from a simple trim. The girl who cut my hair never introduced herself. She took me straight back to the sink without first looking at my hair or asking me what I wanted, she nearly choked me to death with the cape, and then after one of the most unpleasant and violent shampooings of all time, asked me if I would like conditioner. Conditioner, it turns out, is an additional charge(I’m sorry… what?). So I told her«no», and«good luck.» Well, the joke was on me because since I had no conditioner and zero product, it resulted in most of my hair being ripped from my head by her unsympathetic yanking. Not to mention she had zero regard for the location of my ears while combing or shampooing: I was shocked to see my ears weren’t combed off entirely, though they are red and angry. I should have listened to my gut and walked out with a wet head. To her credit, my hair looks pretty good, but it most certainly wasn’t worth the pain.
