I’m a barbacoa person. It’s my favorite kind of breakfast taco, lunch taco, or dinner taco. I can eat it all day, every day. But, I don’t want to cook it for hours in a crockpot. This place is open Saturdays and Sundays until 12 pm. I arrived at 12:30 without knowing and the owners took my hungry toosh in without any annoyance at all(or that’s the vibe I got) Anyway, amazing people. I ended up getting half a pound of barbacoa with corn tortillas. It was my first time there, so they even offered me a sample. Everything they sell is made from scratch and love, and you can definitely taste and feel it. I will definitely be back and let them know that they’d see me often. Not only barbacoa, and lots of Mexican plates to choose from.

It was Sunday I just got off work, and had been craving tamales since Avatar Friday. I make a stop at one place ask how much for a dozen of Tamales the man behind the counter says $ 8.59. $ 8.59 that’s way to expensive for me. So I exit drive down Nacogdoches some more, and stop at Trevino’s Barbacoa go inside and the overhead menu board says Tamales $ 6.49. Awesome I thought the man behind the counter was busy helping other customers with there barbacoa orders. Which I must say looked really good. But, I’m not here for barbacoa I here for the tamales. Finally my turn to order; «What kind of tamales do you have» the man informs me pork, spicy pork, beef, and bean. I say my order«I’ll have a dozen of pork the man opens a steaming ice chest and pulls out a piping hot nicely wrapped dozen of tamales. My eyes get big; big like Ralphie on Christmas Story when he finally gets his BB gun. I pay for the tamales run to the car, and right away open them and grab one. Wait I have to snap a local pic before I devour my first dozen of tamales for Christmas Season 09. Snap! Then the first bite I thought good; not the best. But it sure does beat driving to another side of town waiting in a Black Friday type line only to buy $ 9 dozen of tamales that were really not the type you wanted. So, I gave Trevino’s Barbacoa Tamales 3 stars for being at the right place, right time, and right price.
