Had lunch with colleagues here while on business in San Antonio. The food came quickly, but was just average . I had then#2−2 cheese enchiladas, a chicken taco, rice and beans.

Received a recommendation to eat here for breakfast. The place is obviously an authentic Mexican spot. Nothing fancy at all but colorfully decorated in the Mexican tradition. We ate there once before several years ago and this trip was our 2nd visit there. It did not disappoint at all. If you are looking for an authentic meal, look no further. Stay away from the commercialized places and come here. Staff is friendly and efficient and the food is freshly prepared and tastes great.

This place was excellent!!! I went for breakfast and was NOT disappointed. I ordered huevoes Rancheria with a side of bacon. It came with potatoes, beans and tortillas on the side. I hade my eggs overmedium. Yummy everything was very good. I cleaned my whole plate. I also has an Horchata. That was ok not sure if I’d get it again. The inside is pretty large. Older table but it was very clean. Because it’s downtown they sell abnormal items for a restaurant. Like jewelry. Loved this place and will definitely go back again when in San Antonio.

We had breakfast here it was super busy, we waited 20 minutes got our food in 10. Very good service food is good nothing while about but it is your typical breakfast diner dining. I have to call out the coffee the coffee was to my standards it was so strong it was good I did not expect the coffee to be that spectacular from there. I read most of the reviews and I can see how some of them are bad. But we got served good it was a good experience the food was good and the coffee was amazing. Some people need to understand when there’s 80 people all seated and ready to eat food and there’s only six cooks to 80 people there is going to be a wait. When I see it’s that busy sometimes I just walk away go somewhere else.

Just ok for lunch. Prices were ok. I had the beef fajitas plate. Rice and refried beans just average. Not spicy or flavorful. The fajitas were chewy, a bit on the greasy side, and didn’t seem freshly«char-grilled.» It was served with tasty grilled sweet onions and bell peppers. Also came with a small amount of chopped tomatoes and a pile of tasteless shredded iceberg lettuce. Fajita plate is only served with 2 tortillas — which were good — and no guacamole or pico de gallo. If you want another tortilla, you gotta pay extra. Most surprising: tostadas and salsa is $ 2.00. Wha?! I ordered, but was disappointed. Personal preference: I prefer thin chips and these were very thick and also didn’t taste super-fresh. The salsa was spicy, but liquidly — like it was watered-down. Service was fast and friendly. Overall: meh.

Good food and great downtown pricing. Decent Tex-Mex menu options. Blanco Café offers a selection of lunch options during the work week.

I knew we were at a good place when I saw two fire trucks parked outside(without lights and sirens!). Firemen know where to eat. Eggs a la Mexicana — yum! The only negative was that we were there on a Saturday, and they are not open on Sunday.

This was recommended to us by the Hispanic cab driver, so we tried it. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which I normally love. The eggs were not served on a tortilla, and there were potatoes instead of rice. The sauce on the eggs was like a canned salsa, with little flavor. My companion ordered scrambled eggs with chorizo. The chorizo had little flavor, but the scrambling of the eggs was fine. The place is extremely popular, apparently, for breakfast, as there was a wait to get in at 10:30AM. I guess we must have ordered the wrong items, is all I can say.

Been coming to St. Marys’ Blanco Café for 20 yrs. since I work downtown. Good greasy Mexican food at reasonable prices. Staff is sometimes aloof and they break the golden rule of authentic Mexican restaurants — never, ever charge for chips and salsa, and they don’t like substitutions, but I do keep coming back. There are better Mexican food restaurants in SA, but not downtown, not for the amount of food, the quality and the price. The breakfast tacos are very good along with most Mexican dishes. I particularly enjoy the enchaladas verde and taco plates. Both have good portions of chicken and beef and are well flavored. Prices are in the $ 7-$ 12 range for most plates.

Great place for breakfast. The service was quick and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. This place blows any Mexican restaurant on the river walk away. I recommend coming here if you are staying close to the river walk.

be sure to go outside the regular lunch hour or you’ll be waiting outside the restaurant. we went right before the rush and we were seated right away. I ordered the chicken soup which was huge! it came with a small side of rice too. I was able to eat half and took the rest home. our server was good. will be back.

BARFFOOD. My dog won’t even eat this slop. Its the worst Mexican food in town. They charge you for chips and salsa. The green salsa looks like it crawled out from a science fiction movie. Great, not only do you have to pay for the stale chips and mystery green salsa but they both suck. The food here is like Taco Bell on a bad day. Tacos, burritos, and other poorly executed fare by burnt out staff. I’m pretty sure they microwave most of the food. They have a «special» daily menu as well. Don’t miss the Salisbury Steak or Chicken fried steak that tastes like it was purloined from the bottom of a freezer after 50 years. How this place is still in business is a mystery. The food sucks the big one!

Perfect low key breakfast with house made tortillas and actually good flavorful coffee, surprising given its basic diner vibe. Don’t forget to ask for green salsa, also made in house. $ 4.99 breakfast special is breakfast tacos — 8 kinds, or huevos rancheros. Retried beans and roasted potatoes. Great, simple, cheap. And the staff clearly has worked together for a while, fostering a warm and welcoming vibe. Went twice in a row.
I love this place for breakfast! Two tacos and a large tea or coffee for $ 4.99. Or the huevos ranchero plate with large coffee or iced tea for $ 4.99. Both are great deals, though I prefer the tacos. The green salsa is fantastic. The tacos are a good size and filling. I’ve tried most of them and have not found one that I did not like. The service here is fantastic every time. Always friendly, fast and accurate. What more can you ask for. In addition to the great breakfast deals and menu items they offer nice daily specials: MONDAY Pollo con Calabaza TUESDAY Chicken Fried Steak Salisbury Steak WEDNESDAY Steak Ranchero Steak Ranchero with Enchiladas THURSDAY Chile Relleno Steak Picado FRIDAY Baked Tilapia Chicken Mole Drop in for breakfast or lunch when you’re downtown and leave with a happy tummy and wallet.

The best place for breakfast. Ever. Anywhere. Am I biased? Of course. But I LOVE this place so much. I have to come 2 days in a row. Huevos Mexicanas the first day, Eggs with Ham and Pancakes the second. The coffee is very good. The service varies, but I really don’t care. The prices are so awesome. If you are in SA for a breakfast meal and don’t eat here, you are crazy!

By far the best tacos downtown. Great coffee and friendly waitresses. I’ve been eating here for years and it’s consistently delicious! It gets busy so if you go during peak breakfast or lunch hours be prepared. The prices are awesome for a nice cozy place downtown to grab a delicious home made tortilla filled with great food.
