Wow! This was the first time going here and let me tell you, it made a great impression on me. My kiddos who are 15 and younger and they enjoyed it. It was an amazing experience. The waitress was excellent, never left us hanging. She was quiet but was«Johnny on the spot». Highly recommend. We ordered the Kings Dinner for Two.

Even though Taste of India is super close to my house, I’ve never taken the time to try it until yesterday. I’m glad I did — it’s super yummy. I ordered a to go order based on the menu I found online. I ordered the chef’s special, vegetarian thali, that comes with naan, rice, samosa, and a few other items. Over the phone, the lady said 15 minutes and when I arrived, the food came out ready to go and nice and hot. The food was delish. I will say the naan was a bit greasy, and didn’t taste as fresh as I would’ve liked, but that may have been due to the foil packaging. I’m not sure. But everything else was so good and filling! The samosa had a perfect flavor, and the saag paneer was great with the naan. I even got an extra tub of the rice pudding, which may account for the price change from the 10.95 I saw online. Customer service does leave a lot to be desired, however! Over the phone, the lady was very succinct… and seemed to have cared less whether or not I came in. Same with when I arrived… no smiles, no welcome, nothing. But regardless, the food is still fantastic, and the price is pretty reasonable for the amount of food you receive. I’ll definitely be back.

I LOVE this place. Though I’ve only ever ordered take-out, my experience has always been amazing. I regret that I’ve never gotten the name of the lovely woman who takes my orders over the phone and subsequently provides me with that order when I walk in. She is a sweetheart and I love that she remembers me and takes time out of her very busy day to chat with me. I’m a sucker for Korma and theirs is amazing. I’ve ordered it with chicken and goat and love it every single time. I’ve lived all over the world and this is some of the best Indian food I’ve ever had. An amazing bargain for such fresh, delicious food. Really top notch quality. There are a lot of reviews here talking about poor customer service. Honestly, I don’t know what they’re all talking about. I am very critical and never had a bad experience here. Try it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed!

First off, I want to say… Before this place, I tried Indian food and my initial reaction was YUCK!!! My boyfriend and his roommates begged me to give Indian food a second chance and I finally gave in and said okay. We decided to check out Taste of Inida because it had the most reviews and good ratings. So we picked this place and it was really weird when we first walked in. It was about 8:30pm and it was empty! We thought we picked the wrong Indian restaurant and we couldn’t turn around because we already walked in! We went ahead and sat down and order. Long story short. OHMYGOODNESS. the food was Actually GOOD! I never liked Indian food. This place literally CHANGEDMYMIND!!! I ordered something«squared lamb meat» curry, and GOODNESS it was delicious! The lamb meat was so flavored-full and tender! As well as the Naan garlic bread and somosa(I think that’s how you spell it). The waitress did not speak much(my thoughts were she didn’t speak much English) so that was understandable. Great eye on refills though! Overall my experience with Indian food here was amazing!!! Definitely coming back for more!!!

The food is absolutely delicous. Both times I have been there I had the lunch special. I have tried the saag paneer, Chicken tikka masala, Chicken curry and chicken vindaloo. However the service is not great.

I’ve tried eating here three different times. And every time the woman says she’s full. End it was very odd because they weren’t full. With two open two tops and one I believe six top inside seating open. And four four Tops outside. She almost shoes you away. I will not attempt to come back to this place ever again. I feel the atmosphere is heavy harsh cold and the woman who looks after the place and is the only waitress ever is a very cold, bitter and rude woman.

Definitely a nope. We were there for lunch and had to wait 4 or 5 mins just to be seated. We did not even get the menu or something to drink after waiting for almost 15 minutes. The restaurant is severely under staffed. Left disappointed after 20 mins waiting.

Me and my boyfriend go here(or order take out) probably about once every two weeks. We absolutely love everything we’ve ever ordered and think the quiet dining area is super comfortable! Definitely would recommend this place for a quiet relaxing date night.

I love the tikka masala here!!! It’s rich, creamy and the portions are almost too much but in a good way. Their lunch special is good too since you get several different options for a great price. You can’t miss this place if you like Indian food. Oh yeah, the basmati is the best I’ve ever tasted.

This is what happen to my Togo order and bag… 2 lids where broke. All the food juice busted the bag. When I picked up the bag of food the bottom of bag was completely wet and just fell right out the bottom. It was only maybe a 10 min drive to where I was staying. I’m very upset about the mess in the backseat floor and all over my nann bread that was heated in microwave. Bread tasted horrible. No seasoning. No baked taste. Just Microwaves chewy soggy tasting. The thing is. I watched them bring out baked nann bread to customers dining in that looked delicious. The lady who took my order was very polite, but whoever put my order together needs a slap on the hand. Shame shame to laziness.

Amazing! Every single thing was so delicious! Highly recommend, especially to try new dishes since you pick 3 out of the ones offered that day.

Really wish this place a lil bit cheaper but the food is still so good! Plus i usually end up with leftovers which are always still delicious. I’m a vegetarian and there are tons of good options. The vegetarian thali is delicious! It may not look very nice or busy, but dont let that fool you, the food is wonderful! Also perfect for take out.

Went here for lunch after returning from a month in south India. I had seen the place for a long time but never gone in. Well it is a very nice, friendly place! They serve a Thali lunch which means you get a large plate with four cups of food in it along with rice and naan bread. The non-veg, aka the option with meat, lets you pick two meats and one veg dish. All come with an Indian runny rice pudding-like dessert as well. Normally there is a raita, which is a yogurt-based sauce, and a lentil as well but they only had the four cups. I recall some mention of lentil on the menu so perhaps I had to ask. What is really pretty interesting is that for this $ 7 lunch special they choose what they cook! They have a standard menu but if you want the Thali they underline a few items on the menu and thats all you can choose from. I think there were 4 non-veg and 3 or 4 veg choices. It is actually not uncommon that choosing the Thali limits your choice. In India generally the choice for Thali is limited to just veg or non-veg, or maybe two choices so this was more authentic than odd. I got saag paneer, chicken vindaloo, and chicken tikka masala. Firstly, Indian food should be spicy and despite saying we wanted it spicy it was absolutely not. In most places that serve real Indian food if the range were 1 – 5 this food was maybe a 2. The vindaloo, which should be the most fiery of the choices, was a bit watery and had huge potato chunks and not too much flavor. The tikka masala and saag were very rich and flavorful, but in both non-veg dishes the chicken pieces were dry. The tikka masala sauce overcame this deficiency however, and the naan was outstanding. The sweet, the rice milky thing, was light and tasty, finishing off the meal well. For the price there was plenty of food. Not huge portions but easily as much as I would have for lunch and I eat more than I should. Especially of good Indian food.

I go to this place every other week for my Indian fix. I feel a little out of place given how I stick out like a sore thumb amidst all of the Indian patrons. That, however, is a seriously good indicator of a top-shelf Indian restaurant ;) Ok, so what makes me keep coming back? The food clearly; it’s consistently good, from the Chicken Tikka to the Paneer. Upon my foodie honor, I would swear that Taste of India uses very high quality ingredients. For example, I can always tell the chicken is whole white meat, not some rubbery low grade fowl. Wish I had the same experience at other Indian restaurants in SA, but that’s another story for another review. Also, wanted to note that the base of every dish is wonderful – immensely rich and creamy(lot’s of ghee, and deceptively fattening). This write-up almost has me picking up the phone to call in my order; it’s literally just that good just thinking about it! In closing, I wholly endorse Taste of India, and encourage foodies to order their dishes extra spicy.

I have been a regular customer for years and can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place. It used to be under different ownership and name when I first started. Back then it was ok, but not my first choice in the Indian food genre. Now for the last few years with it current owners, it’s what I crave weekly. My go to items are chicken tikka masala and sag paneer with a side order of garlic naan. They provide the basmati rice as well. You can eat in or do what I normally do and get take out. If you chose take out, it’s about a 15 – 20 minute lead time on average. It’s so delicious that just writing this has solidified what I’m having for dinner tonight! Don’t be scared to try it if it’s new to you. You will be hooked!

The food is good for Indian food but not great. The waitress had a frown the whole time. The ambience is distracting with Bollywood playing on 2 TVs and a depressing décor. We won’t go back unless we absolutely want some Indian food for take out.

Been going here fire lunch several times in the past few weeks while visiting San Antonio. Some of the best Indian food I’ve ever eaten. Plenty of spicy and not so spicy options for everyone’s taste. I also like how the lunch special is basically three small servings of your choice of whichever three entrees you’d like. I like variety. It also comes with naan, rice, and a dessert. Wait staff is very attentive. I read some reviews claiming they weren’t «friendly». While I can see why someone might get that impression(they aren’t outwardly«bubbly» here), I don’t understand why that matters. They bring the food quickly, they keep your drink refilled, and they aren’t rude. They do their jobs efficiently. I don’t see that as a bad thing.

A small little Indian restaurant. Not at all busy on a Wednesday night which is surprising. I’ve been here before several years ago before the name change. The waitress was nice, not the most talkative, perhaps a little shy but nice. She did check on us to make sure that we were enjoying our meal and not needing anything more. The food was great! Loved the tikka masala. Such good depth and flavor. The naan was huge and oh so fluffy. Yum! My only minor complaint was that the chicken kebab off the children’s menu was a little dry, we ended up giving the baby some chicken from our dishes which she thoroughly enjoyed. I actually had Indian food last night at another place and this place was so much better. I’m just a curious cat and love checking out different restaurants. How will you find the one you love if you don’t try them all?

Came here for casual lunch with my friend! I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t have their full lunch menu out when we came right at the opening of their lunch hour :(We could only choose from a few menu items, but thank goodness they had the chicken tikka masala!) The shop is small, but homey as they played Bollywood music videos on the TVs! The food was also pretty good! For the lunch special you can get 3 different entrée samples with rice, nan, and the dessert rice pudding! I got the chicken tikka, an eggplant dish, and veggie korma! It was all pretty good and it was a filling meal for the price! However, I feel that it isn’t the best Indian restaurant I have had.
