I passed by here on a weekend evening and the place looked packed! I stopped by on a Sunday and the restaurant wasn’t as packed. I haven’t had fajitas in a very long time and think I may have lost my taste for them. But the smells from downtown San Antonio on a Friday night remind me that the fajita is alive and brimming here in Texas. Taqueria Jalisco had a strong showing for their reasonably priced fajita offering. I got a mixed plate for around 7 – 8 dollars. The meat was very well seasoned and the onions and peppers enhanced the flavors of the meat. The beef was very tender to my surprise and the chicken had some flavor. I feel that perhaps with a name like Taqueria Jalisco, their tacos might be stronger than there fajitas. The tortillas that came with the meal were industrial grade; a first for me at a San Antonio Mexican food establishment. The refried beans were a little greasy but faired well when paired with rice. The salsas that came with the food were more for tacos and I felt like neither would enhance the fajita experience. I finished the meal with an absolutely delicious agua fresca de tamarindo. That was the best thing that the restaurant. Again, something that usually shines at a more«taco-centric» place. Maybe be back for tacos, but only if in the area.

Was not as good as I remembered when I was here in July. I’m left with mixed feelings. Meat was kind of hard to chew. Was this because I asked for well done and the waitress didn’t understand me? Not sure, but food was cheap and we were all full.
