I will keep coming to this place until they close. Because I haven’t found better Mexican tacos here in San Antonio. Altough I hate to check my order before taking it home because they always forget that I asked CORN tortilla!!! It’s been 4 times. Everybody knows that a fluor tortilla taco is disgustingly americanized and a very wrong mix. Just not right… not even healthy! You there…you are the only ones that’s why I always forgive you when you make me return to fix my order. Let me find another good place and I will for get you guys. Everybody knows 4 is just to much forgiveness.

You know I’ve been here several times, I’ve tried to like this place and I’ve tried to find a redeeming quality about it, but I have to say that I just keep fooling myself. This place is nothing more than a waste of time and a waste of money. The food is mediocre, the service laughable, and the location looks like it’s seen better days. I will say that one thing that kept bringing me back was one server in particular, she was as nice as nice could be and always made my experience there enjoyable. BUT that was soon eclipsed by the crappy service by one wannabe macho whose about as crooked as his mustache, if not more. On more than one occasion this dimwit tried to up charge me on items when the prices where stated clearly on the menue. What was his excuse? «Oh the prices recently went up.» I let that one go, I mean I know mistakes happen. Yet again on another occasion he tried to pull the same crap on me and this time insult me by thinking I didn’t know Spanish?! Well that soon turned against him really quick and I had to put him in his place and even after all that the jerk tries to make it seem like it was my fault! Save yourself and go somewhere else, don’t waste your time or money on this dump!

I ordered from Grub Hub and was quite disappointed with the quality of the food. I had ordered Caldo De Res, taco de asada and green enchilada plate to take to for lunch the next day. The caldo didn’t have much flavor, it was okay and probably the best tasting item of the three things I ordered. They didn’t include any of the side items(cilantro, limes) with the meal but made sure to include some old lemons that had begun to turn. The carne on the taco was rubbery and the the tortilla completely crumpled when I tried to pick it it up. I had ordered a corn tortilla and they gave me a thick crumbly«tortilla» that looked like it was taken from the reject pile from what they use to make gorditas. The enchiladas, well I had to throw them away because I found a long black curly hair in them.

I have literally eaten here everyday for the past few years since moving into the medical center area. This is not La Fogata or El Mirasol. This is a small mom n pop place with fairly priced authentic tasting good food. It reminds me of my childhood in Mexico City.

God awful service. I order at least three times a week an maybe one day a week I will get what I ordered. You’d think they would get it right for a repeats customer. If I wasn’t lazy or if other Mexican restaurants delivered I wouldn’t come here. The food is good but the workers are just short of retarded. Order from grub hub if you must. They reimburse you when your order gets messed up so I usually pay for only one out of every three orders.

My husband and I have eaten here numerous times and we never had a complaint. The wait staff is very nice, food is really good and cheap, and the dining area seems very clean. Sometimes I catch the smell of fabuloso when I walk in. Very nice. I would give it a 5 star but they need to work on the parking lot. So many pot holes.

I have literally ordered from this place well over 50 times through Grubhub. Sometimes its a little slow, but its so good. Breakfast tacos are pretty good, love their barbocoa, I tried my first menudo here and I love it. My Sundays often consist of menudo, barbocoa tacos, horchata(great here) and a tres leches for later. The chimichangas are good as well. If you’re in the Medical area and need some breakfast tacos/mexican food delivery, this is a good place.(low delivery minimum, $ 10) If I could make any suggestions, it would be a) less stems in the cilantro. Sometimes my cilantro seems like its all stems and no leaves. b) your grubhub interface has charged $ 1.50 extra for cheese, on burritos AND tacos, for awhile now. It stops me from ordering a lot of things, because I’m not going to pay $ 1.50 extra for cheese(and I truly think this is a mistake, as the guac is $.50) Please correct this. C) add queso to your menu!

I got the cheese enchiladas, charro beans and rice and a puffy taco. Enchiladas were disgusting and were not cooked all of the way. They were also cold and the cheese was thick and greasy. The taco was mushy and the meat inside had no flavor at all. Pretty disappointed with the whole meal. I would not suggest this restaruant to anyone.

Stay far away from this place. I gave it three chances, one for each meal of the day, and only because it is so close to where I live. No matter when you show up the food is not fresh. I have had menudo, migas, and tacos from here. Each dish tasted old and either over cooked or cooked and then microwaved. When I ordered the tacos I brought along a friend who got ill after eating his that he didn’t even enjoy. I’m forgiving to restaurants having worked and even owned one in the past, but three consistently awful experiences is too much even for me. The service was never good either, though I never had any major problems.

Public Service Announcement: Be warned, you have a 50⁄50 chance of getting ill from their food. I became extremely ill merely 3 hours after eating a carne guisada taco with cheese from this place. Everyone who knows me KNOWS that I eat CG alllll over the city and have never gotten sick from it. After speaking with the health inspector(he investigated this restaurant due to a complaint I submitted) he found 23 demerits, including violations ranging from no paper towels at the hand sink to hundreds of dollars worth of food in the walk-in that he forced them to throw away due to wrong hold temperatures, and an infestation of flies. Perhaps the most grossest discovery was the fact that they did not use gloves to prepare my taco. No bueno! According to the health inspector, you are only allowed to hand-prep food(as opposed to using gloves) if you adhere to a number of procedures, which this restaurant is not certified to do. Now, while the health inspector has assured me that he has taken care of all the violations, I will never come back to a restaurant that had one chance, but royally blew it. From what I understand, this restaurant is under the same ownership as the former«La Terraza» on Fredericksburg Road, which also got me ill about a year ago due to food being served that was definitely not fresh.

CHIMPS! I’m working with chimps! I called to place an order for tacos for my office. They forgot to add avocado to some lunch tacos and completely forgot my bacon and egg tacos. Instead of bacon and egg they gave me bean and egg. I called back and the man on the phone suddenly becomes irate and tells me «Well if you look at your receipt P.H. means bean and egg.» OMG Tapatio guy! I don’t F’n work there, I don’t know what P.H. stands for!!! Not sure why he’s blaming me for him putting in the order all wrong. Meanwhile back at the office, queens heads were exploding! I’ve got hungry bacon and egg lovers wanting their breakfast tacos and a hungry person isn’t a happy person… so this man ends up telling me «There is nothing I can do for you since you already touched the tacos!» I told him that no one even wanted to eat his bean and egg tacos and asked again, politely«Please remake my bacon and egg tacos.» His reply… «ugh its going to take an hour!» Fine… FINETAPATIOMAN! I’ll wait the F’n hour for you to make the bacon and egg tacos. I’ll admit, the food is good, but maaaaaaan their service sucks! Expect to get treated like crap if THEY mess up your order. Try to avoid placing orders over the phone as apparently Mr. Chimp doesn’t know how to take down a simple order of tacos. 2 stars, mainly because the food is good, although beware of the carne guisada tacos, they gave my friend food poisoning lol. Man, I sure wish I could’ve given that man a Pimp Slap over the phone. He deserves one. *Update* — The Server from hell was named Tony according to the receipt. I also noticed that the receipt says La Terraza… BADBADBAD! My office threw all of our La Terraza menus away after an enchilada plate we ordered had a roach crawling around in it. We’re going to stop ordering from Tapatio de Jalisco/Terraza. Don’t need a roach repeat!(btw the original La Terraza closed down, probably because of the roaches lol) I think my office is going to stick with Los Jalapenos for food from now on.

Horrible service, and the food… Was not fresh and looked like it had been cooked that morning and popped into the microwave… Prices are on the high side considering what you’re getting…

Bad Service New higher Prices Rude I had a breakfast plate for a late lunch, $ 1.00 more after 11am, no problem, pretty standard. The plate was missing the potatoes that the menu had described. After flagging down the waitress(she took a long time to finally come) she stated quite simply«no potatoes at this time». When it was time to pay, i asked if she could remove the $ 1.00 up-charge since my plate was without potatoes. She said that if that’s what I wanted, that she would do it, even though she would get in trouble. What?! This lady was clueless — she didn’t get that I was saying — it’s not like she was deducting a dollar for no reason, I literally did not get the full plate — She proceeded to be irritated, but deducted the dollar anyway. This is the type of place that has signs everywhere — so annoying $.25 extra for to-go cups $xx extra for chips $ 1.00 extra for substitutions SKIPIT

Legit little Jalisco place– decent service, more than decent foods, and way decent hours! Have hit this place up many a morning before heading off for a road trip. Inevitably, our«early take off» was derailed by the large, tasty tacos and expansive menu. If you can’t find something to eat here, you’re just not hungry! The tacos are delish– everyone has tacos in SA, but these are of good size and taste just right. There are many other options on the menu, including tortas which look really good but I haven’t manged to taste. BF and his friends are huge fans of the various soups. Enchiladas here are fairly good, too.

So I finally sat down to eat here this morning and let’s just say that I will stick to having their tacos to go. The décor definitely makes this a dive taco shop. They take a while to clean up dirty tables so that’s an eye sore while you’re eating. They serve chips with small styrofoam bowls of cheese and salsa. The chips tasted like fried wontons to me and the cheese was so watered down you had to swoop it to your mouth in order to not get it all over the table. Is there a cheese crisis I haven’t heard about?! Now to the breakfast plate I had. I ordered the eggs a la mexicana plate and it came with just refried beans and two tortillas. The plate looked like there was something missing with all the white space. So maybe a smaller plate would have been better or throw in some sausage or bacon or a filler like lettuce and tomato like other places do. It also tasted like I could have made it at home. So no point in going out to eat. They also serve breakfast from 6 – 11 am but you can still order after 11 for a dollar more! Really?! I mean do they have to pay the chickens overtime?!! The hubby stuck to his favorite of picadillo and cheese and ordered an asada taco which he said was very good. He said they are more generous with the filling compared to the to-go tacos. The carne guisada I’ve had from here is good. Tacos 4 stars Dine in 2 stars Plates 2 stars

I would come back for the barbacoa. The meat is tender, moist, and juicy, and a generous amount is given in tacos for a price you can’t beat. Cilantro, lime, and diced onions are also served on the side. Like any other Mexican establishment, chips and salsa are served before ordering. However, this restaurant also gives you a small cup of tasty queso. The salsa had a spicy kick to it but not anything a glass of water couldn’t handle. They also run a breakfast taco special before 11AM(three of the same tacos for $ 2.39). I’ve only tried the chorizo and egg, and unfortunately the filling contained a disproportionately larger amount of egg. Another drawback is the small, cramped parking lot, but then again you can always call in a to-go order.

By far, my favorite taco shop. Bean and cheese are fantastic, as well as bean cheese and chorizo. I’ve had quite a few dishes here and loved all of them. I’ve tried a lot of surrounding taco shops and none come close to this one. Their green sauce is my favorite! Spicy and flavorful. They give you more red salsas than green salsas, so make sure to request extra green salsa if that’s your preference. Also, be sure to confirm your take out order — The ladies bring out the brown take out bags and hand it to you so fast that I’ve taken home someone else’s order! Oops! I’ve never eaten in the dining room, but it’s a 24 hour shop and it’s always busy. If you get there in the morning, there is a special price for 3 tacos of the same type. The menu is quite extensive — see photos. Eventually I will try everything. Just thinking about this place makes me drool. Plenty of parking out back, even for big trucks. The place is big — dining room could easily seat groups of people. Bring cash if you only plan on spending a few bucks. They have a $ 5 limit on credit card transactions. I highly recommend checking this place out. The tacos here are better than the original donut shop, la vaca naca, and la terraza, to name a few that i’ve tried.
