5 star for the homemade corn tortillas, they are so good! There are so many choices available, including machacado, chorizo with beans which I can’t get them anywhere in New York :’( Wish I live in San Antonio so I can get tacos here everyday!

Great prices for a good authentic mexican breakfast. Located just south of downtown, by the intersection of Nogalitos and Malone, this taco house does a good breakfast. My wife first introduced me to this place years ago. I had the Juevos a la Mexicana(eggs with onions, tomatoes and jalapenos) My wife and son had various tacos but my favorite was the beans and bacon(frijoles y tocino). Delicious… the pappas con juevo was good too. The salsa is good and the tortillas are home made… YUM A tortilla with butter is heaven. Some of the food was a little under cooked… hence the 3 rating… it’s a good place though

Nogalitos Street is known for many things. For one, it has its share of dive bars. One of the funniest named bars is Cool Arrows whose name is probably not as funny for those monolingual readers. But I digress. You aren’t reading this because you want to read about bars. You want the skinny on Taco Nando. Well, in my honest opinion I think you would be better off hanging out at Cool Arrows instead. Here is the breakdown: Chicharron taco: greasy, ranchero sauce very chunky and felt like taco was more like eating a tortilla filled with greasy vegetables. Bean bacon and cheese: refried beans were thick, they had a very good flavor. Bacon chunks scattered across the top, but were scant. Their cheese was cheddary and really helped add to the flavor. Unfortunately, this taco just wasn’t as good as other places I have been to. Barbacoa: This taco was so greasy, it sweated butter. Okay, seriously speaking, this barbacoa meat lacked flavor and literally dripped with grease creating a soggy tortilla mess. Migas: Very cheesy, egg and chips cooked just right. This dish had a very good flavor and if I ever came here again, I would probably just get this plate. Taco Nando’s salsa was a chunky mess. It had a nice kick to it, but felt more like somebody forgot to turn the blender on when they made it. Ending on a positive note, I have to say the tortillas were very delicious and homemade.

Can’t beat the price – breakfast tacos, 2 for a dollar! And a walk-up window! By the way, they open at 7 a.m., for all you early risers. One more reason to love San Antonio!
