Taco Cabana

Never coming here again. I don’t even know where to begin. I went through the drive-​through for my first time trying taco cabana to see what everyone was raving about. I look at the menu and everything looks appetizing. I ordered the personal size fajita chicken quesadilla and the combo meal with three cheese enchiladas. My quesadilla was extremely dry and the guacamole and sour cream it came with was a joke. If you referred to my pictures, that little sour cream was enough for two pieces and the guacamole cup only had about a teaspoon of guacamole not even full. Besides the guacamole tasted like s*$&. Secondly, I was asked if I wanted pico de gallo and I asked for it on the side. Was that pico de gallo in my bag. No he forgot it when he directly asked me. Onto my three cheese enchiladas. The beans were supposed to be covered with cheese which they weren’t and they tasted disgusting. The enchiladas barely had me cheese inside. It was like I ate a tortilla with cheese on top and not inside. This combo was supposed to come with guacamole which I never got. I’m kind of glad I didn’t get the guacamole because I would’ve thrown it out. What a disappointment.

Came here at eight in the morning for breakfast tacos… There was a small line but it went by quickly. I have to say the girl on the speaker made my morning. She was a sweetheart and very bubbly and happy for being so early in the morning. Got two bean and cheese tacos so nothing special just cheap quick Breakfast tacos. Good place to go if you’re in a rush in the morning

Food was okay but the place was very dirty. Several employees just sitting around. Dirty tables everywhere, no ice, no ranch salsa.

At first look the place appeared to clean but as I waited for my food I could see a lot of trash, a couple of dirty tables and spilled tea all over the counter near the soda machine. I just think for all the teenage kids standing around talking the place should have been a lot cleaner. The service lacked enthusiasm but was friendly and thankful. Had the store been cleaner and the counter help been a little more enthusiastic they could have gotten 4 ½ stars at least. We’ll see what the food taste like.

They are slow and workers look like they hate their job!!! Don’t go to this location if you are on a time crunch because you will be waiting awhile! I would suggest driving the extra distance to the Walzem location! They are fast and very nice!

I would pass on Taco Cabana. The folks that work there are nice enough and all, but that doesn’t make up for crappy food. The only plus about this place is the salsa bar…

Other reviews are correct — service is a little slow, but everyone was super friendly. The food was served hot and very very tasty. Got the taco combo and used drive thru. Tacos were beefy greasy goodness as always and I tried the chips and queso for the first time. Chips were crisp and fresh and cheese dip was not too shabby at all. I would recommend this place and will be retiring in the future.

Worst TC EVER! Just moved back to SA & this is the closet TC to our new home. We have been there 3 times. The 1^st time I ordered bean & cheese tacos for us & our movers. There was barely anything in the tortillas & the beans had a strange tangy taste to them, which is not good. The 2^nd time they couldn’t get our order right & then we got home to discover they STILL didn’t get our order right. We ordered the family fajita meal. Not sure how they could screw it up that easily. The 3^rd, and last time, I placed a huge order & sat waiting forever. When a kid came out from behind the counter with my order I told him it was my order & he argued w/​me claiming it was not! The little snot then went thru the restaurant asking everyone else if it was their order. I asked for the manager who came up to me right when the little snot decided to come back. He practically threw my order on the table & walked away. The manager just told me to have a nice night. REALLY??? Then I get home, we ate & we all got sick. Unfortunately, it seems that TC doesn’t read these reviews. Really wish their corporate office would read through them. It’s past time to clean house in that place & provide their customers w/​what we have come to expect from TC. NEVER going back to this location again. BEWARE!

There’s a fine line between two and three stars on this review. The ONLY thing that bumps it up to 3 is the chicken, but I’ll get to that in a minute.
So, here it is, the second time we roll through San Antonio and we wind up eating at a Taco Cabana. WTF is up with that? Yeah, it’s «okay,» but it’s NOT what I’d consider my destination-​of-​choice, given all the MUCH better choices available in the birthplace of tacos!
But, one thing’s for sure: I can stop, grab some good tacos and get back on the road quick… WRONG! (at least on the «road quick» part).
Maybe they don’t tout being a «fast food» place, and that’s good because THIS particular store is ANYthing but fast. In fact, they’re PAINfully S L O W ! We ordered a quarter chicken plate (white meat — remember that), they were out of charro beans so I had to get refried. Also order the chicken «street tacos» with the guacamole & chips.
And…so…we…wait…this is a Sunday, 1:00 in the afternoon. It’s busy, but it’s not THAT busy. It was a solid 25 minutes before we got our order. I was ready to ask for my money back when I saw them assembling the tray. So, I went up to the counter and the first thing I see is the chicken plate, with DARK meat. I told the girl, «umm…I asked for ‘white meat’» (which costs extra, by the way… why is that??).
She then proceeds to ARGUE with me that she was told dark meat. I wasn’t having any of that so I grabbed the girl at the counter and asked her what I’d ordered. She told the other one, «he ordered white meat.» So, seriously, the other manhandles the leg quarter, throws it back in the bin, and gets the white meat. Customer service at its finest. By this time, I was too hungry to care.
Now, again, this SHOULD be a two-​star rating but, if you can get past the crappy service, the food is pretty darn good! Their chicken is definitely the star. It was moist, well seasoned, delicious! Fortunately, my wife couldn’t finish it… DARN the luck! The chicken in the street tacos was excellent as well. But the tortillas were a bit soggy from being steamed instead of heated on a comal. And I’m not all too crazy about liquid cheese on tacos, but it actually wasn’t too bad. The refried beans were also really good and I got to use them in my tacos along with some VERY good guacamole.
So, if you’re in ANY kind of a hurry or on a schedule, DO NOT STOP HERE. However, if you have time to kill and you don’t want to go fancy, the food at this Taco Cabana is good (get the chicken!) and won’t bust your budget.

We stopped here about 1130pm (04÷04÷10) on our way back to Waco after the NCAA Women’s Basketball Final Four at the Alamodome.
We went in and saw two people standing at the counter waiting to order, so we went straight in to the restrooms. Came out from the restrooms and the same two people were standing there waiting to order. One employee was sweeping the floor and three other employees were standing around talking… all four could easily see that they were standing there.
My dad asked if anyone worked here and the employees just ignored him. Since we were in a hurry and needed to get back on the road, we walked out and ended up in the drive-​thru at McDonald’s. Blech.

Breakfast tacos are their only specialty… only because they are so simple to make, and yet they cant even seem to get the cheese on the taco right sometimes! I remember back in the day when i was a little girl that their Tortillas were much LARGER… or maybe i was just smaller. u know how everything seems to be so big in your memories?! I guess i should be a tortilla critic because i always seem to be unknowingly rating tortillas. Anyways, now the tacos are the size of my fist! how do you expect to enjoy a simple taco in just 2 bites? I sure as hell cant. When i order the bean and cheese nachos, the cheese is hard on the styrofoam plate and the beans are never hot, but cold and hard when i receive them! what kind of nachos are those? And i even have to dig under all the chips just to find them! Im not on some scavenger hunt for beans now. You know what they say about beans…
The only reason why id give it a 2 star rating is for the queso.
NOW that queso is delicious, always hot and so cheeeesy. :] My fav.
