One day after getting a manicure done here, I get out of the shower and run my fingers through my hair(just like I do everyday) and I can feel the corners of the nail polish peeling off. An hour and a half later, every single nail has some sort of chipping and some are almost completely gone. In addition, during my manicure, my cuticles were cut and bled twice. I won’t be going back here again, which is too bad. I was trying to find a nail salon downtown so I could go during my lunch break.

Went in for a mani pedi. Over priced for the service provided. Much better off going to a cheep Asian nail salon. No massage chair. You sit on a bench. The pedicure was decent just not what you expect out of a salon. The shellac manicure was decent. The champagne is free flowing!!! Ask for a mimosa! Decided to do a shampoo blow out and it was amazing!

Had a great experience here! Very friendly staff and they definitely know what they are doing. I told my nail tech, Brea(sp?) That I had an ingrown toenail issue and she was so nice about it and took extra care to not cut my toenail too far on that side. The only downside: getting up into the pedicure tub. It’s a steep climb, and then your feet are literally sitting in a tub. But beyond that, great place to go. But it’s called 22 and not studio J anymore. Super confusing.

Just had a wonderful experience at Studio J Salon & Spa! Roxy, Maria, and Brea(sp…sorry!) were so friendly and accomodating for our short-of-notice requests. John even took pictures for us so we have some memories from our salon evening on our girls weekend. Thank you very much for making our group of 3: Mom, high school junior and 8yr old, feel so welcome. Highly recommend!

Not sure why this place doesn’t have better ratings. I had a good experience and even received a nice mimosa. Considering I made a last minute appointment on New Year’s Eve, I thought it seemed like a well run shop. Nails are holding up well too.

I went in after a VERY long work week and got a mani/pedi, color and cut. I absolutely LOVE this salon! My favorite by far since I have moved to San Antonio. Great job Jade on such a wonderful salon, friendly staff and my AMAZING hair!

We asked the staff at the hotel we were staying at if there was a nail salon in walking distance. They suggested Studio J. When I first walked in I was a little hesitant because the salon wasn’t as nice as I am used too. However, the staff was very friendly and greeted us immediately. They offered us drinks as well. A young woman named Marie did my pedicure and she did an awesome job! She added a design because she was having a special. I picked something off of Pinterest and she recreated it quite well! Overall, pleased with my experience at Studio J.

Mixed feelings about this place. I was in town for a wedding and I had not had the chance to get my nails done at home(crossfit obsession takes up all my time!). I figured, how difficult could it be to find a nail salon in the middle of a city. Well, this place came well recommended and a few of the girls in the wedding party had gone to get manis or a polish change. I needed the whole deal! I walked in and was told by the very nice receptionist that there were appointments available later in the day. They were visibly busy and was later told that they had 6 weddings in town so far. No problem, this gave me time to go have lunch! When I arrived a bit earlier than the appointment, I was helped right away. They even offered me a slice of pizza they had just ordered. A big plus is their large selection of OPI polishes. Lots of colors!(they also have gel polishes). A downside is their«chairs» and the sink for your feet. It’s a bit weird to get on it(think stadium seating at a sports event) and my feel were dangling in an uncomfortable manner. Shelley was my technician and she was nice. She offered me wine, water, mimosa(mimosa please) and got to work. She used a few different oils and creams and I really liked how neatly she laid out all her tools. One of the issues I had was that though it was enjoyable, my cuticles did not look all that great, she cut and filed without asking me how long I wanted my nails or in what shape, and the paint job was, truthfully, a bit crappy(as in the paint did not go all the way on the sides or I had some missing in the bottom that looked like my nails grew out). And she took her time, it wasn’t a quick job! I was there for almost two hours. Now all this would have been fine had the price been right. But at $ 70($ 25 for mani, $ 45 for pedi)??? Not so much. Shame on me for not checking the price beforehand… or for not asking for more mimosas! On a side note, people were happy with Marie. And the hair ladies looked like they really knew what they were doing!

WOW — $ 45 for a pedicure. YIKES. Are they crazy? First off you sit on a make shift bench over a traditional sink(yes a sink). The bench has cushions that don’t really fit. You sit straight up in a very awkward position. This is by NO means comfortable or relaxing. I received a traditional pedicure. There was absolutely NOTHING special about it. This place is NOT the place to get a pedicure.

Ugh. I was in San Antonio on business and found this salon near to my hotel. I called and easily got a pedicure. They were able to fit me in quickly, which should have been my first clue. The pedicure station is a black plywood platform built up above a row of sinks. The platform has a few throw pillows, but is challenging to climb for someone 5’2″ in a pencil skirt, and very uncomfortable to sit. It is a far cry from the massaging chairs I am used to. The pedicure service itself was sub-par to what I am used to for the same price. I left with toenails painted fairly well(though several painted cuticles), but plenty of rough skin, and minimal massage. I would not go back.

The people here are very nice but the manicure was really sloppy and they didn’t even work on my cuticles. Basically just took off my polish and repainted. The pedicure was really short as well. Definitely over priced. I came home and repainted my fingernails because I was so dissatisfied.

Big fan. I was in San Antonio for a conference and it seemed there was NO place downtown that did manicures. Between sessions at this conference I zipped over to Studio J WITHOUT an appointment. They were able to take me(mid-week, around 3PM) no problem. I got a basic manicure. The girl was a sweetheart and finished my nails with a quick coat, and after about 5 minutes under the dry, finished with an oily coat that, I swear, protected my nails. As I type this, nearly a week later, my nails are still in top shape. Next time I’m back in town, I’m definitely coming back. Fast, reliable, quality work, great value and kind folks. 5 stars.

I live downtown and consider the folks at Studio J my neighbors. I am in the salon every 3 – 4 days for a blowout or shellac polish change on my toes or fingers. Sam always does my Shellac(best choice) and I switch between Sam or Jade for my blowouts. What I really dig about Studio J is that they are always on top of the latest products and they are ones I’ll actually buy from the salon. There is no high pressure«your hair won’t survive without this serum» speech when leaving, yet I still buy their product lines because they are good and i actually see their usefulness. In the end they always take care of me and get me out of the salon on time, and I’m damn picky. For me to go to one salon continuously for over a year is a big deal and though no place is perfect, I must say I am always happy with my services when I leave Studio J.

I’m just a few weeks away from my wedding and have been planning it from California. Nervous about finding the right solution for hair/makeup from afar, my mom really hit the jackpot when she set up a test hair/makeup run for me at Studio J. I think it was my destiny. Immediately, I was at ease when Jade and I walked through my vision. She nailed it in record time. I was heading out to my bridal portrait shoot and shower later that morning and she accommodated an 8:00 a.m. appointment on a Saturday. I even had a blast getting to know her and the staff, gabbing whilst she worked her magic. The look was transformative and made me feel fabulous. From location to location, I got tons of compliments, too! I’m definitely signing myself and members of my bridal party up for day-of services and recommend Studio J to any bride to be. I’ll post a pic titled«bridal updo and makeup» for reference in the images section.

I’m not sure I can even give this salon one star. My friend and I came for the weekend with family and wanted to get a mani/pedi to treat ourselves. We walked in about 45 minutes before they closed. We only had time for a pedicure, which is understandable being so close to closing. We were offered wine to drink. Had I known the cost of the pedicure, I would have drank 4 – 5 glasses to get my money’s worth. The pedicure was awful. I had reprinted my toes before our trip and did a better job than the lady that did mine. She was done in about 20 minutes– my friend’s nail tech was out the door before we even paid. We walked out with $ 50 pedicures that were worth about $ 20. We have spoke with the lady at the front desk of our hotel to let her know she shouldn’t recommend studio j to visitors. Save yourself some money and avoid this place.

I know sometime this week I am going to break my neck… From whipping my fabulous hair around :) I am Korean&black= extremely thick wavy long hair. Natalie, poor poor Natalie that little woman spent hours on my hair and she did not rush through at all. The atmosphere was very warm and inviting. They’ll provide beverages of your choice outside of the cliché water and coffee… End results effin great… the price was very reasonable and the people were awesome. Yes i would come again and recommend to friends and family.

I walked in and was greeted right away. Made an appointment for a bit later… When I cam back it wasn’t as friendly as I am used to in a salon. They were running about 15 minutes late, no biggie, but no one said anything. I was the only patron waiting and no one even tried to have a conversation with me. The eyebrow waxing was decent, although she did make me bleed a little bit. I think this place has some major potential and i would love to see it thrive.
