Parking lot was full so we had to give it a try. Glad we did! Portions were great, fish and shrimp basket was tasty. Seasoning of fish and shrimp was spot on. Wait time after ordering not too bad but wish we had chips or something to snack on while we did waited. Service was ok overall very friendly but didn’t bother checking if we were needing anything(cocktail sauce, extra napkins). The menu had something for everyone’s mood. Inside the restaurant were plenty of tables and a few spots of bar type seats. Will visit again food was good.

I just so happened to try this place 2 months ago and the food was so delicious that I literally find a way to go there at least every other week! The portions are huge, the fish is so flavorful, enchiladas are awesome, prices are great! They have something for everyone– Mexican, fish, country cooking and its ALL good. Now I just found out they have family fish meals-what?!! Way way better than Jay Anthony’s or Bud Jones. You’ve got to try it to believe it :)

Food was fresh and delicious. This is the place to come for homemade comfort food. Service is always good and the waitresses are always friendly.

Dull, unimpressive food. Slow, careless waitstaff. Boring menu, boring dishes, boring décor. I had a feeling when we sat down that we should get back up, but I was trying to be open-minded. Always stick with your gut! My rating system: 5*= Driving across town just for this! 4*= I would recommend visiting. 3*= Average, acceptable, positive. 2*= You might be able to drag me in. 1*= I will definitely not be returning.

I really miss the old Texan Seafood Restaurant. This place still has a lot to work on, and it doesn’t help they only have ONE cook to work all day either. My husband and I have went to both lunch and dinner and we were not impressed. My hubby had the huevos rancheros and he said his food was extremely bland in flavor. Adding his own salt didn’t help much. I had their pancakes and they were pretty darn dry. Dinner was just a few days ago and we both had the shrimp basket. The shrimp tasted like it was heavily cooked in oil that we both kept burping it up once we left. If they add another cook, I think the menu will improve.

i went last week and ordered off menu. George made me a chicken fried steak sandwich. I love that feeling when you get exactly what you want. Fresh, good-tasting food. The place was very clean and the service fast and friendly.

This is NOT the original Texan silly people. It’s new owners from former employees of Bobbie’s Café(thus«Sherry’s» Texan) down the road, but it’s still pretty darn good.

Umm I’ve read the other reviews which brought me to this place and I must say it was big disappointment. Perhaps the other reviewers don’t know what good seafood is, but I’m positive this isn’t it. The taste is subpar. I ordered the Fishermans Platter… First gripe is the quality of the fried oysters. They were mushy like they had been frozen. Then the cocktail shrimp… Lol this is a huge bust. Clearly they got a bag of mini shrimp from Walmart. They put a few in a condiment cup. The fish was ok at best. The onion rings are disgusting. The stuffed crab is ultra disgusting. The best part about my plate was the toast… mmmm mmmm mmmm was that some good toast… Says no one ever. My advice is stay far away from this place as you can.

Great service and good food. I eat lunch there every chance I get. I like the seafood better then the Mexican food. Daily specials are a great value, baked chicken is my favorite.

Ahhh that really awesome feeling you get when one of your favorite restaurants resurrects from the dead after thinking it was gone forever! To call The Texan a seafood restaurant does not do it justice. It is a southside institution and a landmark, just like with Nicha’s, Griff’s, Rudy’s Seafood, Gyro’s, Mary Lou’s Café and the late Belle’s Burgers(R.I.P.) My favorite item is the fish and shrimp plate. You get 4 jumbo pieces of shrimp, a huge filet of fish, steak fries, a salad and three onion rings. Service is wonderful and friendly.

I’ve been eating Texan since I was a toddler so naturally I was saddened at their closing and excited of their reopening. Texan is so good for those evenings that you know you want something good… also you and your company will have great conversations while waiting for your fresh food to be cooked. I love the ambiance and the homy feel. I always order the same thing when I go, the fish plate with extra house dressing!

Like I said in my check-in, they just reopened today, May 1. Looks like it will have a new name as the staff are wearing t-shirts that say«Sherry’s Texan». The food was just as good as before. I had the seafood platter. The shrimp were especially good fresh tasting. It was a bit hectic and tea refills didn’t happen quickly, hence four stars. They now serve breakfast seven days a week, starting at 6:00 am. That’s new, I think. The cashier stated that they didn’t expect so much business on their first day open. It was crowded. So I’d say, so far so good.
