I’ve been a patient of Dr. Rigsby for more than two decades. His knowledge and professionalism are unmatched. If you are looking for personalized treatment with service reminiscent of a small town vibe, this is an oasis among the typical chain optometrists in San Antonio.

I have been going to Dr. Richard Rigsby for my annual exams and prescription eyeglasses for several years and have always been pleased with the friendly and thorough care I receive. I’ve been pleased with the choice of frames, as well.

If it was possible to leave a no star rating, I would! First, let me begin by saying this rating is 100% only based on the customer service, or lack thereof, that I received. I did not end up doing an eye exam at this location. I have already scheduled one elsewhere. I scheduled an appointment for my 4 year old and was slightly confused about insurance and coverage. A woman called me and asked all sorts of information about insurance and scheduled my appointment. I was under the impression I would be paying a co-pay and we were fine and dandy. Upon getting there I was instructed to sign in. I’m not sure what the woman’s name is but in the photo on Unilocal, with all the employees, she is the one wearing the maroon scrubs and in the front row. I sign in and take a seat. A few moments later that same woman asks if I filled out the paperwork online, to which I answer no.(The woman I spoke with over the phone regarding insurance had told me I could fill it out in the office.) «Maroon scrub lady» then sighs and hands me some paperwork. Then a few moments later asks why I am there. I responded with I just wanted to have an exam done on my 4 year old. She then says well we need a medical reason and looks over at her co-worker and says«right?» I responded with why wasn’t I informed this over the phone? Whoever I spoke with knew all the details regarding my insurance, why wouldn’t they tell me? She didn’t seem to care. She literally couldn’t give two sh*** is what I got from her«customer service.» I understand that I should be more informed on my own medical and vision insurance but when I’m called and instructed to do things a certain way, I expect that you at least give me ALL the details before I come into your office and waste my time. I don’t know if «maroon scrub lady» was just having a bad day but even if that were the case, you should always be respectful. Especially if you want to get or keep customers coming in. I will tell EVERYBODY I know to steer clear of this office. Though the doctors may be phenomenal, bad front desk employees can completely ruin a businesses reputation… Case in point. ^ I really wish I knew the woman’s name who totally ruined my experience with this office. But again, it’s the woman pictured in the Unilocal photo, front row, and with maroon scrubs.

Today I was putting in my contacts and realized, geez I have not taken time to write my experience with this office. This is my first time ever needing glasses /contacts. I thought it was an age thing, but turned out I have needed glasses for a long time. Anyhow, everyone here was so helpful. Doctor Richard, is super nice and takes time to listen. It is so strange to get that kind of attention in today’s fast paced high volume patient loads. Being in the medical field I was VERY surprised by the team Dr. Richard(or whoever) has put together. Everyone took time to answer questions, never made me feel like I was a bother. I can buy my contacts online cheaper, but I will keep supporting my local Doctor and business. Thank you doc and staff! Love my glasses and my contacts. .. but you were right doc, I am not wearing my glasses that much anymore. :)
