Absolutely love this place ! Great phở never had a problem with the taste. Fried rolls are the best here, semi small place so only 3 waitresses who are very friendly. Only complaint I have is durning lunch they get super packed. Tables fill up quick and the food takes longer obviously, but what do you expect. Other then that this place is awesome.

We have tried several Phở restaurants in the area but this is without doubt our favorite. At any Phở place I always try the broth before adding any of the many extras; the basic broth here is excellent and only gets better with the fresh ingredients they use. This visit our table ordered three different Phở(Seafood, Steak, & Steak/Meatball) and a child’s order of fried rice. All four dishes were great. This was a busy Friday night at the restaurant and the wait was a little long but the service was very good, our waiter checked on us several times.

I traveled to San Antonio for work for a couple of weeks and am not familiar with the area. I was craving some Vietnamese comfort so I used my Unilocal instincts and found Phở Thein An. I ordered a com suong nuong and added an egg roll(pictured) and to go and it cost $ 13. A little steep for vietnamese food in my opinion. The service is so so, the ambiance is so so, and the food is so so. The pork(suong nuong) was a little dry and thin for my liking. The star of the dish was the egg roll. It was extremely crispy and hit the spot in all the right ways! If my work travels took me back to San Antonio again, I would probably opt to try a different Vietnamese spot even if it is more of a drive.

After reading some reviews about this place having«the best phở in San Antonio» I had very high expectations, that was my first mistake. We came in on Saturday night 02÷13÷16 and was sat. Waited ~10 min just for the menu. We order a bowl of thin sliced beef and meatball phở and the broken rice plate. We told them we were sharing so they brought us two small bowls, one was disgusting and caked the food residue. It was difficult to ask for a new bowl since the waitresses never seem to come and check on your table and it is immensely difficult to get their attention. The phở broth was tasty for sure, however the thin slice beef was the hardest beef I ever had in all my phở eating years. the meat ball wasn’t tasty and it was very apparent that they used MSG in their broth(hence why people think it’s so tasty). Their rice plate was by far the worst rice plate I have ever had. The grilled pork was tiny, and the Nuoc Mam they gave us was loaded with sugar, it didn’t even taste like real nuoc mam anymore. The egg foo yung was dry and tasteless. And since I was never really a fan of broken rice I didn’t enjoy that either(but that was kind of my own fault because the dish clearly stated it was served with broken rice). This is definitely NOT the best phở in San Antonio, and you can trust me on that one because I am Vietnamese! But why two stars and not one you ask? I gave them an extra star because their restroom was surprisingly clean. I expected it to be similar to the rest of the restaurant, since didn’t look very clean, but I was pleasantly surprised!

Been here twice now, pretty good place. They give you a lot when it comes to chicken so that’s always a plus. Their rice portion is kind if small. Overall a good place

I introduced my Grandmother to Phở a few years ago and she loved it. Ever since, Phở Thien An has been our go to spot whenever I come into town for a visit. No more however. The service we received was atrocious. We waited about 20 minutes to order and another 30 for our food to come out. When my boba tea came out without boba, I requested some, and was served food that was truly the worst I have ever had. They were dried and wrinkled. I don’t care what the cause was, it should never have been served to anyone. These things far overshadowed the actual food, which was as expected, and because of that I won’t be returning.

Apps were delicious and fresh. My fiancé loved the«spring roll» which was really a deep fried Vietnamese roll. The phở came in a large size and the meat was tender and the noodles weren’t mushy. However, the phở was lacking flavor. It wasn’t a deep broth flavor that we were looking for. The staff was great and gave us everything we asked for and kept our waters filled. Over all it was a good find across from the mall.

I hate to do this! Me and my family have been eating here for years but I feel like I should share my review to almost warn people about it. So we went a couple of months ago and there was a hair in my food. The server said it was from a sprout but when he looked again he apologized and brought me something else to eat. We got our take out from there again last night and my husband had a finger nail in his phở! I called and complained she gave me the managers number. He said I could go get a refund he seemed understanding. When I got there she wanted to just refund me for the phở but I had two of the same orders. I know it all comes from the same pot. Not sure if they threw it out or just continued to serve it. I brought the nail and the phở to them and then it seemed like she wanted me out of there swap and gave me 20 bucks.

I used to LOVE this place. But that last visit I had was enough for me to absolutely never return. It’s very sad story. I came for lunch w a friend and her pork lunch plate was old. Like it looked like it was previously made and sitting out and then microwaved. It was hard, cold and just disgusting. The ‘salad’ it came with tasted funky. I can’t pinpoint what was wrong w it. But it didn’t taste fresh or good. We’re not food complainers and never have to return food but this was inedible. We returned it and they didn’t seem very understanding. They just gave us a random dish on the menu which wasn’t much better. The spring rolls(who are usually my favorite) weren’t cooked all the way through. It was red. Couldn’t even eat that. The servers stopped coming by so we just paid and left. I think it was the owner who rang us up when we paid. He didn’t seem to care that I just ate the grossest lunch ever.

From out of town and wanted some phở. Found this place thanks to Unilocal. Very clean place and very attentive. The server has a great personality and checks back on you every so often. He’s very sociable plus to him! I ordered a vermicelli bowl pork and spring rolls(egg roll) it was delicious! The pork was a different taste than what I’m use to but still good. The eggs rolls were delicious! It was a great visit! I highly recommend this place!

My goal is to try every Vietnamese spot in SA and we came across this one. As soon as we walked in we could smell the delicious aroma of the Phở broth. We sat down immediately and the waiter was awesome. Service at some Asian restaurants usually aren’t that great but he was very attentive. Anyway, I ordered a Taro boba tea which was super delicious and it should have been for $ 4.50… I wish they had coconut flavor because I like mine mixed but it was so good with just the taro that it didn’t even matter. We ordered the lemon grass chicken w/spring rolls and mixed veggies. Also, a large bowl of Phở. The rice dish was just ok only because the sauce was way to thick, it was more of a Chinese dish than Vietnamese. The flavor was there, but eliminate the cornstarch for a thicker sauce and go light, as with most Vietnamese dishes… and you would have a winning dish… The Phở lived up to the aroma that filled the restaurant. It was pricier than most places at $ 9.99 for a large but it fed 2 people, so I guess it’s like a 2 for 1. One thing I couldn’t get over was the green onions that were not diced. No one wants to bite into a huge piece of onion. I just removed them from my soup and slurped on. Overall it was a good experience, I will definitely return and try something else and maybe even bring my own alcohol since it’s BYOB.

Best Phở in town, been coming here for years! Very authentic tasting. I love the phở soups but they also have a lot of other choices! Also have yummy bubble teas!

Went in to try something different, a Vietnamese sandwich and they were out! Oh well, back to their Zeppelin-sized tasty spring rolls and grilled pork. Everything was so good as always. My only complaint was that their sweet tea sometimes tastes like it is old or maybe they mixed it with old tea. I could eat here every day.

Average phở. Nothing particularly special about the broth and the small size now of steak phở is a little pricier than what I’m used to. The customer service is really great though and we got our food super fast.

Phở Thien An is seriously the best Vietnamese restaurant in San Antonio. It’s in a rather unassuming place, right behind North Star Mall, located in a strip shopping mall. I really like the Banh Mi here. I know my Banh Mi, having toured Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi. The sandwich here is served on a crusty french roll, with fresh veggies, cilantro and a bit of meat. Very authentic. It comes with a bowl of phở broth which is always delicious! The service here is great. The waitress always checks up on my pronunciation of the Vietnamese terms with the owner, and knows her way around Vietnamese food better than Ho Chi Minh himself. I’m somewhat puzzled by some of the décor. It’s a Vietnamese restaurant, and they have all this Japanese artwork. The place is clean, well lit, and parking is easy. You’ve got to check this place out. I highly recommend the Banh Mi.

The food wasn’t necessarily bad, per se, but it wasn’t memorable. I wasn’t at all impressed. The portions were very good sized and the folks were very friendly and helpful. The fried spring rolls weren’t as I thought they’d be and were overly greasy. The noodles were extremely sticky and much too thick. The pork was just ok. It’s close to a sports bar that friends are regulars at, so I’d be willing to give other items on the menu a try, should I ever be back in that neighborhood again.
