«My husband and I discovered this Vietnamese restaurant about a month ago… now we go every Phở Thursday! and try something different. And each visit just seems to get better than before. Last night was really crowded so service was a bit slow but the food is worth it. I also like the 3-color dessert(sweet beans, coconut milk and crushed ice on top) which I would order again. It comes to you in 3 layers and you mix it up before you eat it YUM. Cannot wait till next Phở Thursday!»

I went there today and had H3 — noodle soup with sliced pork, ground pork and shrimp. The broth was delicious, all the ingredients were top rate. I got the small portion and it was still more than I needed! The bowl was full of meat and garnished with crisp bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime, which you could add to taste. We were the only people there not speaking Vietnamese. The TV was showing Vietnamese programs. We’ve been to four or five Vietnamese in San Antonio(and dozens more in other cities) and I would say this is as good as it gets. The decorations are homey, I think it’s a family run restaurant, and the food is just terrific.

We stopped because the name made us giggle and we needed a snack.(And have been on a Phở hunt in San Antonio for weeks) we have a WINNERWINNER! Fantastic customer service, I have a dairy allergy and they modified a bubble tea shake for me. And by far the best most flavorful Phở we have found at an extremely reasonable price. We will be back, and bringing friends.

Came here because of the reviews. Definitely don’t regret it. Customer service was good and food came out fast. Phở was huge and delicious! Prices were very reasonable and portions were good! Our new fav Phở restaurant… worth the drive!

this is one of my favorite places to eat, the owners are so cute I’m pretty sure it’s a family! the youngest girl is always so friendly and the food is always made fast! I would recommend the vermicelli bowls or the house specials with the crunchy egg noodle! the crunchy egg noodle is my favorite especially with some shrimp you should definitely eat here

The Phở is always great I never have any problems with any service or taste of the food. The prices are are phenomenal. I’m definitely addicted to Phở. p.s they always serve the phở fresh! Always hot as opposed to other places that give me Luke warm phở.

Really great food, but the service was so awful. I refilled my own drinks, had to get my own silverware, and napkins while our waitress sat at a back table talking and laughing with another waitress. I would go back if VN Bistro wasn’t open because the food was fantastic.

If you’re looking for a solid bowl of phở to feed your addiction while you’re in San Antonio, look no further. The restaurant is very unassuming and simple but I ALWAYS come here if I have a craving for phở. The broth is rich and thick and a bit on the salty side but it hits the spot. The serving size is also very generous — fair warning to only get the Small size unless you’ve got a big appetite. Aside from the phở I’ve only gotten a couple of other things on the menu such as the Spring Rolls or the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio(Vermicelli Grilled Pork with Egg Rolls). The rolls were fair and I think the vermicelli is good but you may end up using the entire bowl of nuoc mam/fish sauce they give you to go with it. Again I attribute that to the large serving. Service is fast and friendly. Big recommend to anyone in the area.

Came on a Saturday morning and it was empty. Was a little skeptical because it was so empty on a Saturday morning, but I was hungry so what the hey. Probably one of the most legit phos I’ve had in SA yet. I was also on a keto diet at the time, so the owner/waiter was able to accommodate my request for no noodles and extra vegetable. He even got me more bean sprouts when I asked. Word of warning though, since I was alone, the waiter and cook were in the back, prepping food. I get that since I was their only customer, they wanted to utilize their time better. Better it could have been a chance for them to make me feel even better instead of hiding in the back when I just wanted a water refill…

So we have been here a few times and it’s a hit or miss. Sometimes it’s amazing and others the flavors are lacking. I hope you go on a good day because it’s worth it but sucks if you dont. We’re giving it a 4 because you’ll get a 5 star meal or a 3 star so we’ll meet in the middle.

I have eaten at a few Vietnamese places and I like this place best so far. Service was very quick and pleasant, Food was hot, broth was yummy, fried rice was also good. My kids ate everything in front of them. Serving size was more than adequate. Facility was clean. Someone mentioned it being dark, but it seemed fine to us. They have a cute indoor pond which was well maintained. Overall for great service, great food, and great price.

I’m not a connoisseur of Phở, but I know what tastes good to me and what I would recommend to friends and family who would like to give it a try! I typically go for the chicken Phở — P24, but on the recommendation of my waiter decided to try the Eyeround & Brisket — P07. Loved it, my new favorite! 6.50 for the small with a side of shrimp spring rolls 2.99 was perfect!

Unilocalers you have failed me! Wanted a quick lunch with me mum and decided to come here for lunch because of the 4 stars. The ambiance is very dark from the dark panels on the walls, not very bright or cheery at all. I guess it’s ok to keep cool from the Texas heat? Customer service here not great. The restaurant was not busy at all we waited to see if anyone would seat us. I had to ask the food runner if I can just grab a menu and seat ourselves, which we ended up doing. Not even 5 minutes into going through the menu one of the waitress asked if we were ready to order. Nope not ready yet let me go over this menu give us a few minutes. The items on menu was reasonably priced and not overly expensive like most places around city charging $ 10 + for phở and other entrees were under $ 10. Finally ready to order and no one came over. I saw a staff member sitting along the wall drinking iced coffee having a grand time relaxing. I motion for her to come over and she took our order. We ordered Phở with flank and meatballs, Banh Xeo, and Vietnamese coffee(Never got it by the way, my mom decided she didn’t want it anymore since they never brought it out). The phở noodles and broth was good. The Banh Xeo was disappointing. I don’t remember ever eating this dish with the batter super thick and oily. It was too crunchy, it should have been crêpe like and thin. After that we went to the counter to pay and ALWAYS double check your orders before you pay. They charged us for the iced coffee we didn’t receive. The waitress that took our order was like you didn’t get it? Do you want me to make it to go for you? Pfff ugh no… never once did she even came over to ask us how the food was and all that because she was so busy taking a break. I understand if the restaurant was super busy and you forgot. But it was not busy so there is no excuse to not pay attention to your customers and their orders. I would not come back.

Phở here is pretty good and the staff is friendly. I haven’t had any of their rice dishes yet to review. Their spring rolls are dry so I don’t recommend ordering those. However, they get another star for their quick service.

If you see an older Vietnamese woman yelling at the cook(most likely her husband), you know you’re at a good Vietnamese joint. Don’t let the borderline threat of domestic violence fool you, this is a nice, friendly place. The food is delicious. We love the bún with anything: grilled pork, pork skin, grilled chicken, shrimp, or eggrolls. Nice char on the grilled meats. The price is ridiculously low for the quantity and quality of food you get. It’s a very nice hole-in-the-wall type of place that isn’t always packed or busy, but they have a steady stream of people coming in for takeout so you know they’re legit. Good place if you’re yearning for Vietnamese in San Antonio!

We usually go to this place for a quick, delicious phở dinner. I usually get the vermicelli with shrimp and spring rolls, while my boyfriend gets a more traditional noodle phở. The people are super nice, the food comes out quickly.

My favorite go to phó spot in all of SA. Have searched high and low for the best broth, and so far it is here. Broth is so flavorful, complex, not too salty or oily. Love it. The grilled pork is my favorite meat there. Anything with grilled pork is amazing especially if you order during dinner hours when you know it’s fresh and hot. The Boba teas are fine there. I love the egg and summer rolls. They also have a giant gumball machine for the kids and an indoor koi pond.

I’m always on a mission to find the best phở wherever I am. This place is definitely in the top half of Vietnamese restaurants I’ve been to in San Antonio. Some may say that doesn’t mean much when you’ve had phở in Dallas or Houston. But I’ve been everywhere and the phở here is pretty good. I always get the combination phở — large of course! The broth has good flavor and isn’t overly fatty. The meat is generally nice and tender. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been here. I’m a medical student and there were times I visited a couple days in a row. It’s close by and convenient. Ann one of the waitresses is very friendly! It’s also very entertaining to watch the Vietnamese channel they have on the TV. P. S. They posted a sign saying they only accept credit cards for bills over $ 10. Over the last 4 years I have never had to follow this rule: D

Update: I went back here a few months ago and tried the chicken bun. Going to dock a star because the chicken bun here isn’t that great and I don’t remember them offering beef only vermicelli. I prefer bun to phở normally, so it was big negative that it wasn’t the best here. It lacked the flavor that I’m used to from Vietnamese places in California and the colors of the bowl didn’t look that appealing, just dull because the veggie/meat/noodle portion was off. There was too much noodle and not enough fresh veggies. The portion was SUPERHUGE, but not super tasty. —- Pleasantly surprised. Relatively speaking it’s not the best Vietnamese food I’ve had in the US, but I think it’s the best in medical center, so I guess it gets a point. Phở ha long was pretty good from what I remembered, but I’m hesitant to go back there after all the reviews on the«dirtiness» /failed health inspection posts. As for the food here, I ordered the Phở Tai. The broth was relatively flavorful and tasted pretty authentic. The meat was thinly sliced, medium rare pink tinged, and not hard or chewy. They gave us plenty of garnishes. The basil looked fresh and the veggies, limes etc were plentiful. I also got an order of chicken spring rolls. They weren’t perfectly shaped, but the grilled chicken was flavorful inside. It had a nice charrred/bbq flavor like the Vietnamese grilled chicken I’ve had in California. The peanut-hoison sauce complimented the spring rolls. Not many Vietnamese places offer chicken spring /summer rolls in San Antonio, so I appreciate that the menu is pretty expansive here. The ambiance isn’t the best here and it’s a little run down and dingy. The tables and décor look pretty cheap. The service was okay and the lady who served us was relatively friendly. The prices here are pretty cheap compared to some other Vietnamese places I’ve been to in San Antonio, which is great because I’m not used to paying 8 – 10 bucks for a bowl of phở at other places. The portions here are also pretty big for the price you pay. I couldn’t finish my whole bowl of phở and the meat was also plentiful. I got 2 large spring rolls for 2.99 which is cheaper than most places in San Antonio. Finally, the restaurant seems cleaner than phở ha long and the food is better than asian phở and cuisine, so I’ll make this my new Viet food spot in the med center.

This place automatically gets a big thumbs up from me for opening at 9:30AM. I actually wish that it would open even earlier like other phở places in densely Viet populated communities. Phở is totally a breakfast item. As a child in the Motherland, I got used to eating phở or other kinds of hot soups for breakfast. My grandmother and aunts sold phở, chao, and banh canh at the markets at 5am. So how does PHP’s phở compare to my family’s version? It can’t. Hard to beat nostalgia. But their broth is pretty good… rich & fragrant. I could smell the phở spices as I entered the restaurant. I like that! But the noodles tend to be too mushy. I like the noodles to be on the chewy side. The meats are plentiful. But some pieces do tend to be too dried out. That’s a storage issue. Get it together, kitchen staff! So not exactly a perfect bowl of phở. But it’s better than others I’ve had in SA. The special — bun mang vit(duck soup with bamboo shoots) was just ok. I make a better version at home. The nuoc mam(fish sauce) that comes with the dish was the killer. It was so flat and too sweet. I prefer more garlic, lime, ginger, and hot peppers in my nuoc mam. So props for opening early. If I’m on that side of town again, I’d pop back in. The bo kho(beef stew) looks promising. Maybe I’ll get that next time.
