PARTY MART

Nothing like some racial profiling to make your Sunday memorable. I was making donations to my local thrift store and saw a party store next door. I need to pick up a few things for my Dia De Los Muertos costume and hop on in. As soon as I enter I am immediately greeted. I think nothing of it. Then not 1 but 2 employees begin to follow me around the store. I mean not follow as they are on either side of me as I am looking at the costumes. I say I’m just looking for a top hat or vail and one of the stalkers grabs a hat and puts it in my hands. I stare at her like she’s lost her mind and put it back. I get the prickly feeling on the back of my neck and notice the they aren’t paying any attention to the white patrons but I get the pleasure of having two with me. So, I start to get pissed because of the close proximity. I proceed to walk out of the store and back to my truck. As I am walking across the parking lot I hear «Ma’am, ma’am, please stop!» I turn around once I get to my truck and the owner is right behind me. I ask her what does she want, and why she is running after me. She asks me what I did with the hat. I am livid at this time. People are in the parking lot staring at us because of her running and yelling after me. I relay how pissed I am because of the stalking and she saw what I did with the hat because she was right next to me the entire time I was in the store. She then looks all wide eyed and says «well there were two top hats and now there is only one, so what happened to the other one?» I could have screamed. I told her she saw me put the hat back. She responds «well there’s only one there and if you didn’t put it back where it’s supposed to go kids could get to it and tear it up then we can’t sell it». I could have screamed. I tell her to go check the freaking spot and stop lecturing me about her store. I could have screamed. This establishment do not deserve 1 star they do not deserve any business.

I would have given this store 4 stars, but their prices are high. However, this store has maintained quick turnover for the holidays sooner than most and have a pretty good selection and more. It’s worth checking out if you don’t mind spending extra money for the convenience if this is close to you. They don’t mob you while you shop, no doubt, however, it’s not a HUGE store and doesn’t take much to ask someone a question if needed. Overall, it’s accommodating and especially useful for one-​stop, last minute holiday/​BD items.
