Mustafa Asian & Middle Eastern Grocery

It’s decent. I wouldn’t say it’s friendly or very clean. No one acknowledged me at all except to ask me if I wanted to sell my Toyota p/​u. He was apologetic, stating that someone came in to ask if it was an employee’s car and if he knew whose it was. That was the only interaction for the entire time I was in the store, and I like to look at EVERYTHING on EVERY shelf.
As stated in other reviews, Mustafa has a nice selection. Some unique produce you won’t find outside of Asian markets. Lots of different brands of goods for variety. Curries, pickles, chutneys, chips, bulk grains & flours, spices galore!
But overall, unless I’m in a pinch for a quick ingredient right around the corner from me, I will go to Ali Baba on Wurzbach. Just seemed cleaner, more organized, and with better selection & prices.
Next I’ll check out salaam behind HEB to see how it ranks with these two.

The worst middle eastern grocery store in San Antonio .
Shelfs are full of expired products.
Produce are so old and dirty.
I don’t recommend shopping from this store.

Very cool place to find all kinds of real Asian food. Will be stopping back by to stock up before going back to kerrville.

Spices, rices, and produce galore– almost wouldn’t notice this place since it’s around the backside of the building, but if you’re planning on making a curry or other ethnic dish and want legit spices and seasonings, this is the place.
As a bonus, this place has its own butcher (who may or may not be halal?) and also sells some ready-​made food from the adjoining restaurant– more often than not, I end up grabbing dinner there after picking up ingredients for another meal here.
Look out for the canned thai tea and fried chicken.

Big selection of middle eastern foods and spices! Confusing location. When you arrive at the Fairhaven Center you’ll find Sudsy Laundry, Taqueria Datapoint, Jasmine Thai, etc all facing Medical Dr. Mustafa Grocery is behind the shopping center or on the opposite side. This little grocery store has so much to look through. Fresh veggies and fruit, spices, grains, candies, cookies, frozen foods, canned goods, kitchen equipment as well as hair and body products. I’m so glad I finally checked this place out and wish I had done it sooner! The gentleman working the front was very friendly and helpful. I’ll be returning and hope you’ll check it out for yourself!

Prices are reasonable but I found expired products most of the time.

Love this store. The store owner is a friendly, vivacious guy. The other staff in the store are helpful when you need to find something. My parents loved their chat shop and the items there are pretty tasty. They have a wider variety of Indian food items and produce than the India store at Wurzbach/​Evers which we visit often as well. The frozen items are not as plentiful as we want (idlis are usually missing but they are missing at the India Store as well). We also love the fact that they are open longer hours. All in all a very good store to go to for Indian groceries.

A nice clean store & restaurant! They have a wide variety of middle eastern foods & spices. They also have halal meats located in the back! Some stuff is available in bulk. The restaurant inside offers an assortment of dishes to intrigue the taste buds! From samosas to chicken burgers you can find something on the menu you’ll like. You can order take out or dine in their seating area of the restaurant. My favorite is their chicken briyani! A nice helping of basmati rice over the chicken with several seasonings& spices topped with sliced carrots, boiled eggs, red onions, cucumber, & cilantro. Mix all together & it’s a wonderful taste of yumminess! But I love anything briyani! Located near Medical Dr & I10 in a little shopping area in front of an apartment complex. Construction in that area so be careful!

I love this place, I can’t believe I’ve lived down the street for a couple of years and have never ventured into this store!
They’ve got everything you could possibly need to complete your ethnic food creations… spices, rices, curries, boxed spice combos for almost any Indian/​Middle Eastern dish, veggies, coconut milk, Thai tea in a can (OMG YUM), tom yum soup paste, pre-​made dosas & samosas, halal chicken & beef, and a whole lot more!
We felt a little out of place, which is to be expected since we were the only ones in the store who were not Asian. However, everyone was pretty friendly and we were greeted warmly upon entering the store. The cashier was also very nice and helpful.
As with any grocery store that is not a national chain, unfortunately you need to religiously check expiration dates on everything you choose to buy. I noticed a few items that had been long-​expired, and have read reviews from others who have had bad experiences with expired goods.
The shopping center this grocery store is located in is a bit sketchy, and has always appeared dirty to me, but I was surprised to see that the interior of the store was moderately clean, and one of the employees was even mopping the store while we were there. I will definitely be back, just cautious as to what I buy.

As far as Asian and Middle Eastern grocers go, this is tops. This is as good as it gets in San Antonio. They have everything that I need for all my Middle Eastern needs. They have a wide selection of rice, flour, canned foods, fresh produce, you name it– they’ve got it.
They have a really cool soda and canned beverage section (no alcohol). Most of the stuff is strange and foreign to me.
Their incense selection is top notch.
As one of the previous Unilocalers mentioned, they’ve got their own in-​house butcher.
The prices are quite fair!
The staff was quite nice and courteous. They have those beetlenut chew packets at the front. I wrote about those in my Koonihor review. It’s like leaves and Copenhagen mixed together in a chewy packet of heaven. It’s delicious!
You have to go to the back of the building to find this grocery.

Lots of middle eastern treats, spices and produce. They also have their own halal butcher! I guess if your a scruffy lookin’ white boy they don’t pay attention to you, the employees didn’t talk to me and the checkout clerk talked on his blue (tool)tooth the whole time. I hate when people play the stereotype, but i will be back with such a selection.
Also as JJ said, the store is around back. I drove past the building twice trying to find it.

Good selection of meats (they have their own butcher), spices, sweets, rice, jewelry, bindis and other ethnic goodies. Of course, as the name suggests, geared to the Middle East but with a few Asian imports as well. The employees are nice and always ask if I need help finding anything in particular. Mustafa Grocery even sells fried chicken as well which I found very interesting.
Just a small note: if you come here thinking you’re going to enter through on the side that faces Medical Drive, think again. There’s a laundromat, an Asian restaurant and a couple of other businesses facing Medical on the first floor. There’s a second floor but the entrance is on the opposite side of the building. So swing your car around (or walk to the back) and you’ll see the door on your right hand side. =)
