1st visit was great. From an intro lesson in coffee roasting from Jose, Master Roaster to a bag of freshly roasted Columbian beans to take home, we will be back for sure. Thanx!!!

Had a nice cuppa here while in the area. Needed a little pick-me-up for the afternoon, and asked for a recommendation from the barista. She made me a latte with honey. It was smooth but just ok. Seems like a nice little shop and the service was friendly, but I don’t think I would go out of my way to visit again.

Get there right after they roast a batch and you’ll be in java heaven. This is a small shop with a nice selection of locally roasted coffee to buy in bulk as well as enjoy in the store. Its a nice, comfortable place to enjoy a cup of coffee after a bike ride or workout. You’ll not find 2 dozen people on laptops doing their taxes/schoolwork there, it’s a bit small for that, but there are a few tables to sit at and relax. Service was very nice and knowledgeable.

Everything you need in a neighborhood coffee shop. Why people line up @ the 3 $tarbuxx nearby is a mystery!

A nice and quiet coffee place. Ordered a latte and it was delicious. They also have pastries, I ate the cranberry and orange muffin and it was good. Reasonable prices for the coffee.

This is my go-to spot after I get a massage at nearby oak haven. Love the hazelnut latte and everyone that works there is so nice. Great coffee and atmosphere.

I have been here a number of times. I do not appreciate ordering a large latte and getting it only ¾ full. It has happened on a number of occasions. Manager was not interested in hearing a complaint from my wife. Also you can’t get a receipt. There email system on sending receipt does not work. I have sent complaints to their web site but no response. Customer service is severely lacking. I like doing business with locals but not with ones that don’t care about what the customers want.

I prefer the other location, but I can’t put my finger on why. Neither really have the comfortable seating and welcoming atmosphere that I like when ordering my coffee and lingering over a book. Service is somewhat impersonal, and the lack of a public bathroom is a turnoff as well. Bags of coffee beans along back hallway seem to be intended as decoration, but really just come across as messy. Emily’s Special is a decent drink, menu didn’t specify it was an iced coffee. I prefer the Aztec Mocha. Prices are pretty average. Wish they would partner with a local bakery to offer treats rather than the cups of Umpqua oats and lame Costco-value-pack muffins.

I love this place for what it is which is a business that roast good beans. I see a few one or two star reviews, and their main complaint is that this is not a place where you come for the atmosphere. I can’t disagree since in my mind, that’s not what Mildfire is. I don’t go there for the drinks, I go for their beans which are roasted in house and delicious! I would put Mildfire roasts against the big boys like Counter Culture, Intelligentsia, Cuvee, or La Colombe, and Mildfire is cheeper too!(~$ 14 for 16 oz.)

Just what I was looking for: good java, local flavor and a quiet place to work. With the nearby construction it was easy to overlook this place but I’m glad I found it. Fairly small, narrow shop with a few seats in the front, lawn the side and in the back. This was a work stop between appointments so I only ordered a decaf, which was served up freshly brewed in a large ceramic mug. Great roasted flavor. Very friendly service. Tables were a little small to do much work but it worked just fine.

For those of us who need to be in the medical center, it’s pretty obvious that a particular chain has taken over this area with their gangst’ status. Luckily a street down from the prominent coffee shop is this lovely coffee joint. Located in a shopping center adjacent to San Antonio Burger Co., this place can be easy to look over. Keep your eyes out for the sign facing the street and you’ll spot it. Upon entering this coffee house you’ll begin to notice the homey feel(is that even a word) with a plush hangout area towards the back. If you’re wanting a bar stool sit down look towards your immediate right and you’ll see not only the set up but an electrical cord multi-outlet. The teas are ok as they use pre-made tea bags but the main focus here is the coffee.

My wife and I both had vanilla lattés, which were excellent. Friendly, fast customer service and great coffee made this visit a win. The breakfast tacos were good, and the salsa was excellent. The green salsa was a little spicy for my wife.

Great coffee shop with very friendly staff and very tasty coffee. Love those days where I can go and work from here for a couple hours.

The coffee deserves 4 stars along with the hometown feel. The cashier needs a little improvement on her skills at recognizing when a customer is new and may need direction on the menu but hey she is young and if that is the only issue there are no issues. Try it out!

The prior reviews make this place sound like a decent coffee shop that caters to those hardcore coffee drinkers. No, this place is just a super tacky place full of gimmicky drinks and food items that are perfect for those suburbanites who simply don’t care. The availability of V60, Chemex, and various other brewing methods might make this place look like a legit place but it’s really not. I had a pretty bad feeling when I peeked through the window. The interior looked pretty stale and didn’t see a real espresso machine(you know, like the ones you see at Brown or Local). The beans are pretty subpar. They roast their beans on-site. Ok, whatever. Nowadays I can get high-quality beans from renowned roasters USPS’d to my door in two days. This place seriously lack attenton to detail. Also, they keep the temp below freezing ala Starbucks so people don’t sit around for hours with laptops. Sorry to leave this review but I’m one of those psycho coffee drinkers who reads Sprudge, grinds beans at home with a burr grinder, and drinks single origins from spots like Heart, Sightglass, and etc. The best coffee in town are still at Brown and Local. This place doesn’t even compare to either of these local gems. The guys who work here are pretty friendly though.

I’ve been to many of the coffee house in town, but these guys have the best coffee in town. It doesn’t have a social bug feel, but they know coffee.

There are only two things in my life that I am high maintenance about, my wine and my coffee. This friendly little coffeeshop is my Happy Place. The owners are friendly, the baristas know their stuff, and the freshly roasted coffee is out of this world. Best mocha I have ever had. You will not be disappointed.

I haven’t tried any of their coffee drinks, but I DO buy their coffee beans and I am certainly satisfied! I’ve tried two different kinds, and both have made delicious espressos. The staff are always very nice and helpful, and willing to grind my beans for my espresso maker.(Although sometimes they grind them a little TOO well and my espresso maker doesn’t like it… so make sure to mention that if you are wanting an espresso grind.) I do miss my Wichita, Kansas Spice Merchant coffee… but until I’m able to go back to get my fix, I will keep going back to Mildfire.

I can’t, in good conscience, give this place anymore than two stars. Sorry, Mildfire… Came here because it was centrally located for me and a couple friends I was supposed to meet. Order the coffee of the day since(1) I wanted to judge the quality of their in-house roasted coffee and(2) their espresso machine was(temporarily) broken. What I ended up experiencing was over roasted coffee of a average ilk. Overall, they need to(1) double down on their green bean purchases and spend more on more expensive beans,(2) train their folks better in coffee prep, and(3) stop serving gimmicky drinks. All in all, this place reminds me of a non-descript coffee shop near some random military base in suburban Virginia(or anywhere else). I will not be back, unless utterly necessary. Still not a one star place, but pretty dang close. Too bad too, because I think it could be pretty good with some very simple changes.
