I need to preface this by stating that I am biased as I am engaged to Melissa M. That being said this was one of the best UYEs ever Those that know Melissa know that she goes ALLOUT when she throws a party. She spent a couple hours at home squeezing lemon juice to take with us so she could make her special French 75 for the attendees. That is what you call dedication! Having the UYE at Bob meant that everyone that attended could not only BYOB but could also have a selection of great food varying from Pakistani to Creole to Colombian. If you can’t find something to eat at Bob then you will surely starve to death soon. All in all it was a great time with an opportunity to meet a few Unilocalers that I have not met before. To top off this great event Melissa has also decided to do a monthly UYE Food Truck Park Tour. Can’t wait til we hit Southtown on May 18!

So Unilocal!keeps reminding me that I need to review this, but I find it pompous to review your own UYE. So I’m going to use this space instead to say thank you to everyone that came out and made this such a huge success :) We’ve started a food truck tour based on the success of this event, and I’m hoping that all the great Unilocalers will come out and continue to make these a success.

Wut, wut!!! I had a friggin’ blast! If you didn’t attend, then shame on you because… because… well, just shame on you! I didn’t make it until about 8. For those of you who know me IRL, I always run on Filipino time — which means I don’t make it in until about 4 hours later(so I was actually early this time around. Huh. Go figure.) Anyhooooo… Stephen C. text me earlier that afternoon, and to be quite honest, I almost didn’t go. The day was getting humid and I thought it would carry on throughout the night. He ran the NOAA weather report by me and I quickly reconsidered. About 5 minutes before I got there, Brent L. text me and asked if I was there already. «No but Im OMW.» I told him that Melissa M., Shawn G., and Stephen C. should be there and he text back and said, «Found them». Then yours truly showed up… albeit I parked in a questionable parking spot, but I made it. I was greeted by a group synonymous with the word, «Awesome». I felt at home. I got hugs from Brent L. and Stephen C. and later when Ms. Krys T. showed up from one of the food trucks, I got a hug from her too. Granted, she stabbed me on my cheek with her earrings but that’s okay. I’m alright. I will survive. Scott D. I used to work with and he knows I love him with all my heart! Melissa M. and her fiancée, Shawn G., I met for the first time PLUSSSSSSSS I WASTHEEFIRST person to introduce them as each other’s fiancée! Woo hoo! Can I be the first to review on that little chestnut? I mean seriously??? The fashionista, Julie S., rounded out the Unilocalers and there was our night. The food — OMG the food. I don’t even know where to begin. All of it was amazing — I tried a lot of new stuff I hadn’t tried before Friday night and was quite impressed with it all. I even uploaded my pic of the Banana Nutella pocket pie from the Spice Runner — needless to say my daughter gave me flack about it since she’s a Nutella freak. She missed out! Ha ha I found out I knew someone from Lagniappe Today and we chatted it up quite a bit. Later in the evening, when a few of us closed out the BOB, we talked with Megan from the Rickshaw Stop as well. So in closing, this is all I have left to say about this event: I laughed. I cried. I felt emotion.

Rumors of a UYE here once a month? I’m down for that! It was great meeting new Unilocalers again — I always have a good time at these events. Thanks for organizing it Melissa! See y’all at the next one!

There were free French 75’s, people. Let’s start there. When Melissa M and her new fiancé, Shawn G, decide to throw a party, they do it right. French 75’s were flowing from Mo the bartender that were mixed by Melissa herself. Kudos for choosing a BYOB spot so the Unilocalers in tow could booze up all they wanted for free! And speaking of the venue, man has Boardwalk on Bulverde grown up lately. So many trucks. So many nice new touches and so many great people. I love having food truck parks in SA finally and this was the first and they’re working really hard to stay awesome. And then beyond that, there was great fun, some old school Unilocal SA Elite love(hi Brent and Jai!!) and of course that wonderful laugh of Melissa M when she’s having a blast. I had a great time and I encourage whole heatedly the rumor I heard to keep this UYE going once a month! Thanks, Lissa! You rock!
