Take a decent ice cream chain, have it run by apathetic high schoolers, and put it in a mall. I’m not hating on high schoolers/teenagers in general, but this shop is chaotic.(My first job in high school also was a beloved ice cream chain! Ice cream/dessert shops should be delightful. Not stressful.) This Marble Slab is a mess in terms of cleanliness and service. Malls– especially busy malls– make it impossible at times to keep up with the flow of customers for serving and then cleaning up messes that ice cream tends to make. But with a crew of 3, there can be at least one serving/register, one helping with register/back-of-house stuff(dishes, pulling items from the freezer, etc.), and then one dedicated person to clean up and restock. At the same time, the staff have to have the work ethic to actually follow through… There were no napkins, the floor was a sticky mess, and there was just a lot of trash/tasting spoons, etc. on the counters. Portion sizes were not accurate(too much ice cream). And I know, I guess you could complain about more– but when the container is too small, it’s going to be even more messy. I had to ask for a second/larger cup because the ice cream was already spilling over the side. There were no napkins on the customer’s side, so I had to go back and interrupt their line to get something to clean up with– my request was met with attitude since it was an obvious hassle on the staff’s end. Otherwise, Marble Slab ice cream is standard and decent. If you want anything more than this typical lackluster experience, avoid.

Got coconut & mango ice cream, the mango was good but the coconut tastes like anything except coconut!!! It tasted more like just vanilla! Not sure what was in there, I like brindles ice cream more

There was a $ 5 for $ 10 groupon that we used during our stay. It was very crowded in the small store and unorganized. They were out of the unlimited toppings which is a bit Cray cray. My daughter got a small cup of cotton candy and the hubby and I got large waffle cone cups. The ice cream was great but I wished my butter pecan ice cream could have had pecans. When trying to pay with the groupon only the manager knew how to ring it up and used it as a teaching lesson to teach the employees. Not a smart move when the line is out the door. And who comes to an ice cream place for their cookies? We had to get some to eat up the costs. They are nothing special. Store bought cookies are better. Only time I’m eating marble slab is when there is a groupon! Maybe we’ll try a different location.

Clean, bright store. Love how they decorate with colorful jars of candies and toppings. Employees are super friendly and accommodating– by that I mean they totally didn’t bat an eye, let alone roll one, when my bf insisted on trying 5 different favors before settling on chocolate. ;) We shared the medium with Swiss chocolate(which tasted exactly the way it’s supposed to: smooth and light and chocolatey) and cheesecake(which was also light, so it worked well, but it really just tasted like a variant of vanilla rather than cheesecake). Only complaint is that they didn’t have a single flavor that had Peanutbutter, which I found odd and disappointing. May have to go back for white chocolate or red velvet though. Nice news about those who are health conscious: splitting Medium With your significant other is under 250 calories! I realize it doesn’t compare to Bluebell’s calorie count, but I expected the total to be much higher so it was a pleasant surprise.

Came here because of a groupon. Staff was a bunch of 16 year olds who were not happy to be at work. They overcharged me and then were pissed I made them fix the $ 1 mistake. She even slammed the register. I watched an employee trow someones ice cream up in the air to try to catch it in a bowl… it landed in the garbage bin on the counter. It was full of papers. old nuts and candy, and candy wrappers. Still… The woman picked it out, put it in a bowl, and actually served that to the customer!!! I don’t think the customer saw what happened. I hear there’s a good gelatto place at this mall– go there instead.
