This is a great place for breakfast. It’s not 5 star but it is a good neighborhood place. The food and service is perfect.

One of my favorite little breakfast spots in the city. One of the few authentic Mexican breakfast menus as well as all of our Tex mex favorites. The corn tortillas are to die for and the chilaquiles are my absolute favorite. Service can be a tad slow, but everyone is super friendly.

This restaurant gives you a «just like home» experience. The owner is super friendly and really passionate about his food. The chicken mole and tortillas were excellent.

Driving around in search of some good Mexican breakfast fare, we discovered Los Laureles. This cozy little place is located right off of I-10. The first thing I noticed about it was how clean the place was. The second thing was how many people were in line for pick-up orders. Business was very brisk which is a good sign of any restaurant. I ordered my usual carne guisada and cheese as well as a bacon, bean and cheese taco. The beans were a little runny, but not a deal-breaker. They had a good flavor and the bacon was crispy which complimented the bean texture in a good way. The cheese was melted just right. The tortillas were a little thick for my liking, but tasted homemade and had a really awesome flavor. The carne guisada was tasty, but the meat was a little tough. It could have simmered for a longer period, but the guisada sauce was flavorful and not overpowering. The salsa was a definite winner and packed a punch. While not on my top ten list of taco joints, Los Laureles is a solid choice for anyone in search of a good Mexican breakfast.

I’ve been to Los Laureles twice. Ordered the Chilaquiles the first time and a couple of breakfast tacos on the second visit. First, the place is CLEAN and the waitstaff is courteous, Without those two criteria being met, I won’t return to any restaurant. The Chilaquiles were nice and crispy and just the right amout of eggs, cheese and optional sauce. The refried beans were fresh and potatoes were not greasy, but tasty. The breakfast tacos: I ordered one chorizo/egg and a bean & cheese with bacon. The ingredients were great, but I wasn’t crazy about the flour tortilla. In fairness, that’s a matter of personal preference, though, as I love the flour tortillas at Blanco. Still, I would definitely return and try out their lunch on my next visit. BTW, the girls speak very little English, but they’re cute and motivate me to brush up on my Espanol… LOL.
