I believe this place is now out of business which is a bummer. It was a cool bar with good beer and a relaxed vibe.

Leon 1883 is the new chill spot that replaced Revolution Room off of Broadway. I highly recommend this place as it’s nothing like rev. Tons of great beer and liquors, friendly and easy going staff, and specials and music that we are always looking for.

The first time we went to this place it was a rainy and cold Monday night. If one has been here they would know that the beer truck is located outdoors with only a small deck and roof offering shelter. However, the service was amazing and warm upon arrival. Yes we were told of what was on special and what was 86, but it was the genuine attitude of the bartender(possibly manager). A brawny man with a great beard hosting a delicious array of craft beer selection as well as an incredible palate for delicious brew. There is an attached indoor bar that sells liquor and a has a restroom as well as couches to rest your chilly bones upon that is also a part of Leon’s. We decided to stay outside due to the great environment and social bartender. We made it a tradition I go every Monday night, though sadly this past Monday night we were not greeted by our brawny friend. It was dark. It was cold. It was faint. There was a flickering light above the outdoor bar that seemed to move with the motion of wind. Instead I was greeted by a smoking Frenchman wearing chef attire on the steps of Saluté. He told me that what was Leon’s 1883, no longer was and may very well no longer be. They closed down(apparently). Sadness all around. Business is not so good for indie businesses and it is a shame society will go where everyone goes rather than look for a table where no one is sitting and attract a crowd meant for them to their table. I tried Leon’s. I really did. So did Brandon, so did James, and so did Gigi~ cheers, friend. #feels

This was my first time here. And it turned out to be a great place to just relax. They had a DJ inside. And they had a soloist outside. They had a real nice large beer garden area with some picnic tables and a jumbo sized jinga to play. Service was not bad either however I do have to say they were not busy so still kind of hard to say.

I’ve held off on this review for a little bit. I wanted to verify that the changes that were going to stick. They definitely have and I’m kinda loving the new atmosphere here! Leon 1883, named after owner Lee’s grandfather, is part icehouse/beer garden and part whiskey bar. The rebranded Revolution Room is an attempt to escape the«club» scene and go more to a lounge type theme. They have, thus far, succeeded. Outside you have a craft beer bar with plans for expansion. Add to the outside bar a huge patio area/beer garden and I cannot wait til Fall and/or Spring(and some of those nice San Antonio winter days) Inside, the old«Revoltion Sports Room,» is a remodeled lounge with comfortable couches and chairs. The other side, formerly the actual«Revolution Room,» is pretty much unchanged internally but they have plans to make huge changes that I’ll save for an update later. The music is now more country and less hip hop, a nice addition in my humble opinion. They’ve upgraded the juke boxes(both sides) to Touch Tunes, if you aren’t familiar you should probably download the app and just trust me. StrEAT Food on Wednesday is still going strong and seems to gave benefitted from the rebrand. As most of you know, StrEAT is a weekly stop for me. IMO, due to the food trucks, Wed is the best night here. Monday is the deal of the week though. Mason Jar Mondays. Buy a Leon branded mason jar glass for $ 5 and fill it with ANY of their beers for $ 2.50. The best part is that you can bring back your personal jar in any given Monday and get the craft beers for $ 2.50 still. Seriously! Craft Beer for $ 2.50! There is not a better beer price in town period, trust me, I’ve looked. Sunday they have football and the Sunday Ticket. Its the only day they open early, noon. Come check it out. If you’re there on a Wed find me at the front corner of the bar and say hi.

Leon 1883, Could it be I’m falling in love… with you. Checked it out on a Wedesday after passing it weeks before opening then reading the review in the Current. Do I always follow what I read about in the Current? No… ok, maybe. I am not going to compare it to the previous bar. I don’t live in the past. I sat outdoors on the patio. I am slut for patios, and I REALLY liked this one. The bartendar Jay was cool and that is always a plus. But, the microbrew taps is where it’s at. I didn’t get a chance to check out the crowd because I was too busy flirting with the brews. Beer 1st, people 2nd. I am giving it only 3 stars because it was my 1st time and I tend to fall in love quickly. Will definitely return and make a sound review.

What a great change! I’m happy to have Leon in the neighborhood! This is a total change from the previous bar at this location, Revolution Room. The décor is completely different, and they have an awesome outdoor patio which is perfect for chilling in the shade with a cold one. I enjoy the artwork inside. The bar inside is basically divided into two bars– there’s the one that used to be Rev Room. They’ve added some artwork, but it’s basically the same thing. The other bar that used to be the sports bar, or Karma, has been completely revamped. They have a buffalo that serenely overlooks the patrons. It has an old timey western feel to the whole place. So they have a specialty shot — you gotta try it! Weirdest shot I’ve ever experienced– it’s a cheeseburger shot. Tastes just like a McDonald’s cheeseburger. It starts with a bloody mary type shot, Worcestershire Sauce, V8, and some other secret herbs and spices. You shoot that, followed by a silver tequila shot, then follow that with pickle juice. It was one of the weirdest shots I’ve ever had, but it did taste exactly like a McDonald’s cheeseburger. So strange. The bathrooms haven’t been upgraded, like you’d think they’d have been, seeing that they revamped everything else. The bartenders are super cool, and they are fast and friendly! They have bands that play out on the front porch, which was great. I’ll certainly be back!

Checked out Leon on the grand opening. It has a nice variety of scenes for different moods and preferences. If you are familiar with the ’09 area, its next to Salud and the Hangar and across the street from Rebar, so it is helping to turn the block into more of a bar district. That being said, none of the places are amazing… They turned the front parking lot into a beer garden, with an outdoor bar with some good local microbrew taps, an outdoor TV, some bar height tables and some food trucks circled around it. Will make a nice place for happy hour. The inside has 2 separate rooms. The bigger room — an «ice house» w/full bar in the center of the room. The room is concrete and painted red. It wasn’t packed, but people were having a good time. There is a stage in the corner and the band was good, but it was really loud. They still need more stuff on the walls or carpet to improve acoustics for it to be a nice music venue. The room adjacent — separate outside entrance and walkthrough door — is the whiskey bar. It is about half the size of the ice house side and the bar is situated on one of the longer sides with bar stools. Looked like a good selection of whiskey — and this was the only place to get wine — important for my girlfriend — though they did have Angry Orchard Cider outside. Happy hour also ran from 4 – 10 Friday. The crowd and feel of the bar was quite local Texan. People seemed to be enjoying themselves in each of the settings, however we didn’t stay for a drink. Staff was friendly. If you’re in the area definitely check it out. I think I prefer it to its neighbors, but not sure I want to make a special trip for it. 4 stars cause it has potential, and its too new to poo-poo.
