I enjoyed my visit. Pleasant servers, cashier. Fresh tasting abundant salsa. Nice thick firm chips. I ordered the quesadillas and they were only $ 4.99 and tasted great, including a generous helping of sour cream and pico. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time despite the lunch rush. The outside of this restaurant looks run down but don’t judge a book by its cover!

This is our«go to» taqueria. Carne Asada, menu do and their chicken tacos are favorites. Tasty food at a great price. And yes, one of the waitresses is a little on the surly side. But most of them are great and you’re not going there for the dining experience, anyway.

I’ve always loved this place with its great prices and very good food. After six months in Seattle Washington I realize I should have never left San Antonio. You will always find great lunch specials at great prices here. Service is better than most. Really any place that knows how much bacon grease to add to refried beans is a treasure.

This place is as homemade as it gets when it comes to Mexican breakfast. Their chorizo and potato tacos are amazing. When you’re not in the mood to go to a place on S. Alamo to have brunch, this is the perfect place. Great quality, reasonable prices.

San Antonio comfort food at its best. Non-pretentious style with generous portions. My quesadilla con pollo was top-shelf and though I’m not a fan of refried beans theirs has a freshness that is tempting.

It is good ol’ Mexican food. My husband and I LOVE taquerias, so this place is great to us. Plus it’s so close to our place. We usually pick up tacos from here on our way to work, or when Taco Haven is packed/I’m in my phase of avoiding TH because they pissed me off somehow. Either way, this place is good, and is much cheaper than TH. Only downside for me is that they don’t serve breakfast tacos all day. And if you know me, you know I would eat breakfast tacos for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if I could. Plus I’m used to taquerias serving breakfast tacos all day! All the other ones we go to do, but not this one. It’s okay though, their carne guisada with cheese is yummy.

We live near here and just went for the first time. Went through the drive through, so we didn’t really have any experience with the service. The food was ok, served hot and fresh. I had three tacos: Shredded Chicken, Al Pastor and Beef Barbacoa. The al Pastor was good, probably the best of the three; tasty, and the cilantro and onion served with it was fresh. The Chicken tinga meat was pretty good, maybe a little too salty, but the lettuce and tomato on it were crisp and fresh. The Barbacoa… hmmm, very bland, mushy, the meat was a dark grey color… not what I was expecting, but it was edible and the cilantro and onions on it with the salsa they gave us made it almost good. I probably wouldn’t order the beef barbacoa again, though. My husband had a Chicken fajita Burrito, which was really tasty. I will get the fajita style chicken over the tinga from now on there, because it was so good. The burrito had fresh lettuce, tomato, and what tasted like a good quality cheddar cheese, which I was happily surprised with. The only thing about the burrito is that it was $ 3.49 or so and pretty much the same size as the tacos which were $ 1.87. I would pay $ 4 – 5 for a bigger burrito, and be totally ok with that.(I guess my Amurcanized idea of a burrito is skewed by Chipotle and places like that…) I kinda wished there were some fresh lime slices served with it all. I think if you know what to order here, the food is probably great, we just struck out a couple times. We’ll definitely go back, tho :)

I’ve been hearing this place is good so stopped by for breakfast. The tacos are big and yes the food is good. I like that they have fresh lemonade too. The service wasn’t to good, waitress were walking around like they were mad at the world. One waitress took a to go order without even looking up while she was texting on her phone. So if you just want good food it’s a yes but don’t expect to be greeted with a smile.

The best freshly cooked Mexican food in Southtown downtown & very reasonably priced. The flour and corn tortillas are made fresh, the carne guisada is tender & succulent. The pico de gállo & salsa are also fresh. Even the lemonade is perfecto!!! the bean & cheese tacos rock plus it’s open 7 days, whn a few other places are closed on Sundays, before & after church services

Love this place. Great food for cheap. The service can be a little rough at times but I’ve never had a bad experience there.

Las Tapatias de Jalisco is a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant located just down the street from hipster dominated Southtown and across the street from Brackenridge High School. I came here on a Friday after getting out of work and ordered Shrimp a la Mexicana and a carne guisada taco with a lemonade as my beverage choice. The shrimp a la Mexicana had the perfect amount of spice. The carne guisada was okay and I enjoyed the lemonade. My waitress, who looked like she was still in high school working there to have money in her pocket, was friendly and never sassy. I didn’t notice too many students going inside the place to order anything to go or hang out inside. I’d come back here again and would recommend it over Rosario’s up the street.

So I’ve been here plenty of times and think it’s time to share something. This place is an amazing place for decently priced food and good food at that. Yes many may say that the waitresses can be a bit of a sass but they deal with students all day so cut em some slack besides that only students or to go orders are ordered at the counter just FYI. Well that’s all I got to say almost a five but not quite maybe with some smiles and it will be earned.
