I had the worst menudo I ever tasted. It was bland, it had no flavor, I only ate some of the meat. Try the bean and cheese tacos instead.

One of the best little Mexican food places in the city! I compare EVERY salsa I have to theirs. It is great food and really reasonably priced. I used to come at least once a week when I went to San Antonio College.

Decent food. Breakfast tacos are good, loaded, and reasonably priced. Ive had their pollo en salsa verde… pretty good. I have also had their nachos… not impressed. If you are one of those«foodie» people, nothing that will wow you just your basic Tex mex restaurant.

I used to love coming to this restaurant for years but this place had gone down the drain. When I first pull up to the place there is a dead rat in the parking lot and the table that I sat at had dead flies on the window ledges. The waitress brings over my drinks and she grabs my glass from the rim and sets it down clearly cross contaminating my glass with her dirty hands and then hands me a glass that is cracked. So instead of the manager being more appreciated at the fact of me bringing this to his attention he gets mad and yells at me from the counter to my table. Then to make things worst my fiancé found a hair in her food. The manager still made me pay for it. These employees don’t were gloves and don’t speak English very well. This is the worst experience I have ever had here so I will not be returning to this dump. Also the manager has no customer services training at all what kind of a manager yells at his customer’s and when I told him you can’t talk to your customers like this all he says is ok. I think this restaurant spends to much time talking among themselves than actually doing their job and cleaning up the restaurant…

DISCLAIMER: I KNOWWHATREALMEXICANFOODIS. We came here after it being recommended for its barbacoa de borrego y consomé. Walked in, we weren’t greeted, we had to ask where to sit and finally they told us to sit wherever we’d like. Took a bit for wait staff to come with menus. We ordered two pounds of barbacoa de borrego. When we got the plate it seemed a little under served. The barbacoa was EXTREMELY greasy. There was hardly any meat on the plate, my family and I had to literally pick through to get the meat bits. We know what authentic Mexican food is, how it should taste and how it should be prepared. All we tasted in the barbacoa was grease and fat. Definitely not enough napkins in this place to clean up the grease on my hands. No flavor in the meat or consomé ATALL. I ordered an horchata. As soon as he put it down, I already knew it was too milky. Also lacked the cinnamon I was waiting for. Every time I took a sip my cup had a slight smell of egg in it, gross. My brother ordered a taco de guisada and it was full of cumin, no other seasonings just cumin. My parents’ coffees were hot and fresh. On to the tortillas. The barbacoa is served with flour and corn. Both under cooked and ultimately very thick, which contributes to the undercooked dough in the middle. Overall, okay service. Food quality a bust. Won’t be coming back.

Best breakfast tacos in town! The flour tortillas are fresh, huge and flavorful. Two tacos are more than enough, though you’ll want more! My favorites are chorizo and egg, and potato and egg. Add avocado for a fresh twist. Yum!

Las Salsas is no longer 24⁄7 which is probably for the best. I’ve been here so many times that I can’t necessarily narrow down my experience to one story… Most everything is good in a greasy, cheesy, Tex-mex kinda way. Don’t come here expecting light healthy food! Everything is Tex-mex to the core. I suggest the fideo soup or the puffy tacos. The service is usually always attentive and friendly, despite lacking in the«hablo ingles» department.(Which makes it all the more authentic and great in my opinion!) One star docked for the quality of their flan. I only tried it once(to-go) and it almost tasted like expired or sour dairy was used to make it. Yucko! That’s my only negative lament; maybe it was a bad flan day.

I’ve given this place multiple chances. This was the last straw. $ 4 chips and guacamole to go. I get home, open the bag to find unseasoned avocado slices smashed into a tiny portion cup. $ 4 for this? No thank you. This place has gotten sloppier than usual, I will not be back and will be letting my friends now it’s not worth it. Taco Cabana is down the street, offers something that actually resembles guacamole in an actual adult size, and is open late, better bet.

This place used to be great. The service was poor today and the restaurant wasn’t very clean. No soap in the ladies room and toilet seat was hanging on by a thread. Normally the food is excellent. Today they forgot to include ingredients in each of the tacos.

A Mexican Restaurant that does not even use real cheese on their tacos? Where to even begin? As soon as we sat down, the waiter told us they were out of sweet tea(how do you run out of sweet tea?). We ordered the beef puffy tacos. First of all, nothing was hand made except for perhaps the salsa, and trust me, hand made is what makes good Mexican. The puffy tacos fell apart before we even picked them up. The beef was undercooked(had red inside some of the big chunks). When we asked them to remake them, then the waitress informed us that we had to get chicken tacos instead because all of the beef just looks like that. What that means to me is that they make enormous bins of pre-made picadillo at the beginning of the day that they serve from all day, and if they undercook the meat(probably because they are making too much at once), they just keep serving it. The chicken was okay, but again the puffy tacos fell apart and the cheese was obviously imitation cheese. Then there was the beans and rice. They looked dried out. The beans had a dried out film on the outside of them as if they had been sitting on the plate for over an hour at least(they probably had). They also had no flavor. The rice was not very tender, and was terrible. The refried beans were barely edible, most certainly NOT«seasoned with bacon fat». I read the reviews before going to this place too, and I am sorry that I did not listen to the bad reviews. It seems obvious to me that the restaurant staff are simply getting their friends to post great reviews on here. Notice how some of the reviews excessively flatter the waitstaff? The service wasn’t even good, my g/f didn’t even get her drink refilled once. If this place was even mediocre, I might recommend it simply because it is open 24 hours. However, I would classify this place as dog food, not mediocre mexican. There are so many good Mexican Restaurants here in SA, I have no idea why anyone would eat at this place. Taco Cabana is better. Anyone who says otherwise on here is either lying or has terrible taste in Mexican food. Some GREAT nearby Mexican places if you are in that area are(by order of proximity) Taqueria Chapala Jalisco, Carmelitas Mexican Restaurant, La Gardenia Mexican Restaurant, Pete’s Taco House, and Panchos Y Gringos. I give all of those five stars, and they use real cheese, hand make literally everything, and its freaking delicious. Those restaurants are not 24 hours, but if any of them are open you would be way better off going there instead. Just one final heads up, this isn’t the first time I have been duped by fake reviews on San Antonio restaurants. That kind of crap really pisses me off. Make better food you liars.

VEGANOPTIONS! Both tortilla Beans Rice Avocado Papa ranchera Papa a la Mexicana All 3 salsa(even the one that looks like queso) Avocado Victor is the best waiter in San Antonio BARNONE. He works nights, he’s buff as shit — looks like he could pull your head off your body– and has a shaved head, but he’s a super nice guy. Tell him I sent you there and I swear he’ll take great care of you. I get bean, rice, and avocado tacos on corn and sometimes as a puffy taco, and it’s amazing. You will not regret eating here and your wallet will thank you. Addition 9/’15: I agree with some of the negative things people say here, but with the place previously being 24 hours a day for 4 out of the 7 days of the week, you’ve gotta understand that you’re bound to get different cooks and things might be a little different here and there. My other encouragement is tipping. Most people are still tipping 10−20% … If even that… And I always find that complainers and low tippers get the worst service while I’m never complaining and always over tipping. Generally speaking my food comes out faster and my waiters are nicer. Give it a try, necios y necias. The other thing is that most fools are coming in at 3 am drunker than your creepy tio at yer quincenera… So maybe these people aren’t as nice as you want because you aren’t as nice as they want. Also, they’re no longer 24 hours, much to my chagrin. God bless this mess, and gimme my 5 star tacos.

Perfect tacos for $ 1.99 and $ 1.49. I had the picadillo(hamburger) which was just right. … not over seasoned, and the bean and cheese which was perfect as well. The best part was the salsa. One was a good hot green I believe it was a jalapeño base, and then a tomato-based red salsa with some jalapenos in it probably too. But both very good. Very friendly staff I will be back again and again

I was told this place was going to be greasy fun lovable Tex-Mex fare, and indeed it is. Quite delicious flautas. I am told that it’s an excellent place to wind down after the bars, much like Chacho’s or Lulu’s.

Highly recommend this place, it’s mama’s cooking for you. This is what Mexican-Americans eat and continue eating. It’s a hole in the wall kind of a place but food is delicious and comforting. Starting with they’re salsa which is full of flavor well seasoned and a light pinch of heat. My plate beef chunks in saucy gravy and rice and beans. Very good. The meat was soft and tender, not dry and bland. The sauce was packed with spices and beefy flavor. The retried beans was seasoned with bacon fat or chicken broth. I can tell bad retried beans has no flavor, the refined beans here are good enough to make a bean taco. Same with the rice. Will be coming here more abs more. Food 9⁄10. Service 8⁄10.

I mean… they’ve won Best Tortillas in Texas. What more could you ask for? If you’re looking for a great breakfast taco with homemade salsa verde, you need to come to Las Salsas. It’s simple and they do mexican food very well. No frills, just good food. I recommend a simple potato, bacon, and egg.

Bleh. The ONLY thing that gives Las Salsas an upper hand is that they’re open late-night and one cannot avoid the lure of greasy Mexican food after a few too many cocktails on the strip. Sadly, unless veiled by pure debauchery, it’s just about the worst excuse for Tex-Mex in San Antonio. Honestly, I’d rather drive a few more blocks North to the OG Taco Cabana. Most recently, and not by personal choice, I delved into a barbacoa taco and couldn’t take more than one bite. I can’t remember the time I turned down a barbacoa taco… or any taco for that matter. So, consider yourself a champ if you’re ever able to talk me into coming here. That’s when you know I had a doozy of a night.

Yes, I know, another 5-star rating from me. But lemme be clear-I believe in giving props where props are due. Too many times people only get online to review because they are pissed off. We are more than that, we are Unilocal! ers. So that being said-indulge me, if you will. This is among my FAV drunk foods! To the point where I have their varied hours of operation memorized and I plan my drinking accordingly. Stop laughing, I have a problem ;) Chips and salsa require salt, but who’s doesn’t? They have three salsas to choose from. The standard red salsa comes out with the chip basket. But ask for their green salsa and their orange salsa. Now the green is a bit too earthy and hot for my taste but I can KILL me some orange salsa. Don’t ask me what it is or what’s in it. I don’t know and don’t care to know. All I know is it is AMAZING. On everything. Now while they have a full and varied menu, I only get breakfast tacos. They are that good. My favs are the Chiliquillas, Potato/egg/chz/guac, and guacamole and cheese. Their guac is bright green, creamy and delicious. Wait staff is wonderful. Fast, friendly, and have the patience to put up with drunkasses haha. I’m sure the staff during the day is totally different than what I’m used to, but all the late night service I’ve had has been A+

True story: We are greeted by three employees with HUGE smiles across their faces like we grew up together. That’s always a good sign. We are brought the chips and salsa. The daughter and I attempt to «spurt» the salsa into our ramekin. After several squeezes, a blast bursts out onto the table and our clothes. Why salsa?! Why are you put in a ketchup bottle with a narrow spout knowing your chunky tomato deliciousness backs up the steady flow? Why??? That was just a mere set back, I mostly blame myself for that Darwin award nomination move, 4 stars are still in place. I lived in the area for over 8 years. Never stopped in to Las Salsas. Why you ask? Because I guess I just never took the time to stop in and eat. I always get drive thru thanks to Taco Cabana even in the wee hours of the morning. Well, Fawn, you know Las Salsas is open 24 hours! You’re right, I did know that. Shame on me, shame, shame on me. I guess I was scared that it wouldn’t be that good, especially being across from Banana’s and 2015. It kind of reminded me of Mr. Taco, that place that use to be in that shack off Blanco, then moved to Olmos/San Pedro, then closed because they had crappy parking. Great restaurant, crappy location. But, Oh! The food is great! Far better than any Tc’s I’ve had in the past 4 months. I am kicking myself in the booty for passing Las Salsas up for so long. On a side note: Please, please, please fix the train that tours the tracks by the ceiling! Any establishment with real moving toy trains gets major points in my book!
