If you were an out of towner, and assumed that this fountain has been here since the days of Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie, I’d forgive you. It just looks like an old, out of place fountain. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. It was installed in 1974 to commemorate Lady Bird. It’s all made of the same stone that you see in the walls of the Alamo, and it just looks like it fits in. It looks kinda like the public fountains I’ve seen in Mexican towns. But this fountain is hard to get a good glimpse at, or get near because traffic is constantly whizzing by this place. The biggest drawback of this fountain? The city decided to permanently shut off the water several years ago, and replace it with plants. So I guess it’s not technically a «fountain» anymore, huh?
