I visited Jacks to watch a friends band play. Ordered a Dos XX off of their draught and it tasted HORRIBLE. I thought maybe it was just that certain beer so I tried another. Nope, they all tasted horrible. Must have been rotten beer or the lines from the keg had never been cleaned. EVER. Not only that but extremely overcharged for a couple of beers. Would NOT recommend this place ATALL. I’ll tell my friends band to play elsewhere.

Not sure if the female bartender was having a bad day or not but every time we ordered a drink she was not happy about it. Rolled her eyes and everything. Apparently we were interrupting her from flirting with another customer to do what she is being paid to do. So we apologize for sorry asking you to do your job… really.

It a decent bar. You definitely have to be a regular to feel the atmosphere. The staff serves you well like all bars do. It doesn’t have a big assortment of drinks but for those new in the bar scene you would florish in this environment. For the most part it is a place where you can become a regular and come in routinely. If your looking for excitement then this bar is not for you. It’s my first time here and there is a birthday party for some girl in her early twenties. So today it is full of a younger crowed.

Tuesdays are great. All pints only 1 $ can’t beat it. Outside patio is awesome. Overall this is a great place to hangout especially on Tuesdays

I usually only come here to see my boys in Parabelle play, but I’ve played a few shows here myself and drank a few times on my own here. For bands the sound is a fight, the monitors don’t really help because of the high ceilings. Tuesdays is cool because of $ 1 pint night which includes Dos XX, which is pretty hard to come by any wheres else. Blue Moon is $ 2 on Tuesdays as well. I will be honest the mood is kind of depressing and lights are always dark. Not my first choice on any given night but not my last either…

Unprofessional to the extreme! They dont have any way to contact the venue for the number they provide us never answered and apparently to far away to hear. They post online incorrect concert information, saying a band is going to be there when in fact they are not. I will NEVER come to this venue again! And will share my experience with EVERY person I meet. Hope ur happy you made one really pissed off consumer, because of your lack of management.

Saw some pretty decent bands here. They have pretty good line ups of band playing regularly! I think this bar is split into two bars, with both being Jack’s. There’s a door close to the street that takes you into the other bar if it’s too loud. The other one has a jukebox, but the thump thump thump from the bands overrules any George Jones I tried to play on the jukebox. The drinks are moderately priced. The staff wasn’t all that friendly, they’d sigh if they had to go to the other bar to add to my bar tab. The bar itself was fairly clean, and the bathrooms were really clean too.

I’ve been going to Jack’s for years now and I really enjoy it there. Every time I go the bar is packed. They have a great way of putting the word out about their daily specials. Tuesday nights are pint night where you can get domestic pints for $ 1. I went last week and it was crazy the amount of people that were there. I loved the fact that I couldn’t put my finger on one kind of group there. So many different people which I absolutely love. It is funny how you can hear country music one minute and then metal or rap the next. The bar can be a little slow when there are tons of people but I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s as bad as any other busy bar you go to. They do staff a good amount behind the bar so I personally don’t think it’s that bad. It’s a matter of where you position yourself. The live music here is awesome. The here is probably one of the best sound system in San Antonio. They do book some fantastic local and some non-local bands. The drinks are cheap, company is good, and music is great.

This was a fun little stop on our trip. We met up with a few of my boyfriends friends here. The bar itself is pretty small, but crowded! We came on a night when there was no music, so we lucked out on that. I’ve heard a lot of stories of the music here. We listened to the juke box… pretty funny playlist. went from some really bad country music to Lil Wayne all night. made for some real interesting conversations. The weather… well, it is Texas, so it was in the 90s or so, and I am not used to that! So I complained a bit. We sat outside, since inside was really loud and the patio was pretty much empty minus like one other table full of people. It was a great time, I must say. We all sat outside, caught up with each other, enjoyed some Shiner… Which I must point out… $ 7.00 for two Shiners! I don’t know if that is good for other Texas places or prices, but coming from Minnesota, that shit is cheap… and Tasty! The bartenders seemed like they couldn’t really keep up, it was a wait every time you went in to order, but at the same time, I’ve never seen a bartender move that slow with a huge like at the bar like that. They really took their time with everything they did… oh well, still got my beers. I’m hoping to come back, we get off this island on Friday, so I’m trying to get my bf to bring me back!

Jack’s Bar & Restaurant; Go for the band, Stay ’cause you’re stuck to your chair. What can I say about Jack’s? I have only been there three or four times for no other reason than they book the best bands I have ever seen in a dive bar. period. I have never ordered food there(do they even have food?) and while I was there the band was playing so service was about what you would expect from a dive bar that is filled to capacity, meaning slow enough that there was no prayer of getting even remotely drunk. From what I remember of the beer selection it was moderately limited with primarily domestics and a few smatterings of your basic Mexican and European imports(Dos Equis, Heineken, Corona, etc). The drinks were neither disappointing nor impressive. The staff and patrons were every bit as pleasant as one would expect here in San Antonio. God, I love this town. As for atmosphere, I normally define this as people plus facility… Like I said before, the people are cool; the facility however is filthy to a point that it was difficult for me to stay for the band’s entire performance.(I’m kinda freaky like that) The table was sticky with several days of funk each time I was there and the windows… are they tinted? No that’s not tinting… holy crap! It’s tar! Seriously amigos. There’s so much smoke build-up on the windows they look tinted! The men’s room… I have relieved myself in nicer restrooms in Southwest Asia and Mexico(c’mon my military friends, you know what I’m talking about)… oh the humanity! Hey Jack’s, if I feel like vomiting in your bar I want it to be due to the massive amounts of alcohol I have consumed there, not because the smell and appearance of your men’s room hit me like my twelfth Jäger-bomb!
