Zona Bar & Bistro

Was there a couple of weeks and invited some people I knew to my table. I bought an appetizer for my friends and about 15 minutes later a dude that works there that apparently hates my guest came to a female friend that he knew and warned her not to eat the appetizer because apparently he had done something «special» to it for my guest. I found out complained to the bartender who was in charge. Since I don’t feel that’s correct I filed a complaint with the food and sanitation department. Stay away from this joint.

i have been here oh to many times to count and now I’m starting to get pissed. i hate complacent owners who don’t deserve to own a bar. the bathrooms are dirty and besides eddie and jacob the staff is absolutely horrible. last night i became that girl i told kyle its one thing to drink behind the bar but don’t get sloppy or waisted. don’t blame your lack of skill on not having a bar back. i have never seen that bar busy enough for a bar back. EVER. it has all the potential in the world to be great and it sucks. just a shame.

Hole in the wall place. It’s usually completely dead inside but on very rare occasions there might be a little crowd. Good place to chill and get a couple drinks after work. It’s not fancy at all so no need to dress up to come to this place. It’s as chill as it gets.
The bartenders are attentive and friendly. They keep the bar clean and take care of you.
Music varies. Sometimes they have a DJ and even have the flashy lights but again this place is not fancy. Feel like I have to keep saying that to warn some folks. They have pool tables on the side if you’re up for a game of pool too.

Went by for lunch, had a double meat burger with tots. Food was good, waitress was nice, would definitely go back to eat there. There were some customers there having some drinks, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I was getting my car worked on next door and had some time to kill. There was only a couple other people there, but the waitress was polite and attentive. A great place to grab lunch with good food. I can’t speak for it’s night scene…

it’s ok. Bit depressing at time with the mundane crowd. Not a fan of karaōke. get it on a good night and you might enjoy it. Some of the bartenders are really nice and easy to chat with.

We still were never waited on
We left.
We will not be back
We will not wonder when Zona goes out of business

Well, had some time to kill… great happy hour draft prices on Monday… but 6+ bucks for 5 wings that i were so small they could have been rat arms. no one gets wings in texas– leave that to the Yanks please. btw celery and real blue cheese must accompany your lame attempts at bar food– makes you eat more hot sauce and order more beer! staff was very nice and attentive– a rarity in SA

I used to be a regular when this place was Faulkers. Then the owner changed the entire staff over the last couple of years and this place lost it’s charm and what made it that nice, fun neighborhood bar. Pretty soon, there was hardly anyone here and the staff and service sucked. I stopped coming for about a year or two.
Came last week and was surprised to see an old face, one of the bartenders from back in the day when this place was a-​hoppin. Had a good time. She was very attentive and it seemed like the old times.
I came back tonight and there was not only the bartender from last week, Aubrey, but also Vanessa, another one of the original bartenders-​BONUS! These chicks and the others made this place fun.
What was only supposed to be a stop for 1 beer turned out to about 5 IPAs and 3 shots. Had a great time and was like the good ol days.
I’m glad to see the owner is trying to make things right and hope he continues to hire bartenders with the same demeanor and attitude as those two ladies.
The only miss was that it was 8 pm and the kitchen was closed (the cook and a bartender quit that day)
This place is still one of the cleanest bars I know. They change the set up and removed tables but added couches to lounge in.
Although I had a great time, 3 stars as the owner has alot of work to do and the jury is still out. I’d definitely go back and give them another try to see if the atmosphere is the same.
