HuHot Mongolian Grill

It’s very good when the right cooks are working I’ve only had one bad experience in the years of coming here and it was due to an inexperienced cook. But the main guys are awesome keep the line moving, are very nice and know how to work the grill or whatever it’s called.

The food was okay. It was very warm in the dining area and very crowded at lunch time.

Black male cook… kudos for really trying not to burn my spinach! Cook guest interaction is key… when I went up a second time… he took extra care to flip and mix it in the sauce… he handed me my plate and informed me that he saw my face on the last plate (burned most of the spinach and I was seriously disgusted (can’t hide my feelings)) and ensured he took extra care with this plate… really appreciated… makes my 30 $ meal for one worth it…

Went there instead of Ghengis Grill simply to try it and compare. I found the choices of veggies and ingredients a little less than Ghengis. The first sauce I tried had no flavor. The second sauce pared with the not so tasty pork meat truly tasted rotten. I did not finish my plate and happily so because before we left my stomach was cramping. I did not like having to stand and wait for my food to be cooked. My husband and I were taking turns eating and never got to eat together because one ate while the other was in line. Not impressed. Ghengis Grill wins my vote.

Went yesterday for an early dinner. Was there a little after 4pm. I was in a group of 4 and there was maybe 8
Other people in the entire building as customers. Of course it’s dinner time, so the waitress asks if we want a soup or salad. I order the Asian salad. After we come back to the table there is still no salad or soups. The waitress finally comes and says that they don’t have any salad and that I could try a soup. She comes back with the soup and says that there is nobody to prep so she is doing it on her own. Not a big deal, but when I get my $ 80 bill for dinner it makes me a little upset because this restaurant knows what they offer and should have it available for customers.
As always, though, HuHot is a favorite of ours to go to. Just think they need to get it together because service has gone down over the years. Three stars Bc my family likes the food, but they need to work on their service for their customers. Service is what brings people back– not just the food.

Awesome food. The guys on the grill busting their ass. You pick and choose what you want and they cook it while you wait.
Negative —
The floor was way too slippery from all the oils and sauces as well as the counter around the cooks. Grease was dripping from the vent hood
Cooks were sweating their asses off from working over the fire but expected I just didn’t want sweat in my food.
Besides the small things 4 from me. I’m not going to knock it down for the negative comments they went strong enough but had to say it

This place rocks. The hostess today was very attentive, positive and nice. Sat our party quickly. The bars to choose try bowls were clean and filled. The grill masters were talkative and appeared to be having fun making our meals. The waiter was on top of our tables with drinks and apps. Haven’t be here in. While but I will be coming back. I love creating my own dish and changing it up with the sauces. All you can eat grill, mmmmmmmmm!!!

Alright let me start by saying over the course of 3 years I have been a huge fan of Hu Hot since I was introduced to it at your location in Appleton, WI. Well my story takes a dark turn today (figuratively and literally) when I came in to your San Antonio location. I (a service member in uniform) decided to bring my co worker (who had never been to Hu hot) along with a young man who enlisted in to the US Army today, for lunch as a small token of appreciation for what he is about to do for our great country. Upon arrival we our greeted by our server, Martin. He takes our drink order and asks if he could get us anything else before we went to the buffet line in which I asked for tortillas (a common custom that started at the Appleton location). After this, the server (Martin) and I quote said“ha no we don’t have those. This isn’t Mexico.” In a VERY derogatory tone. Me, being a Hispanic male, didn’t know how to react to the situation of blatant disrespect. So with my co worker and this young man calming me down, I went to the line. In the line there was a decent selection of add ins to choose from. I built my bowls, and handed them to the cook. I don’t know what happened between me handing him my items and him returning them to me that turned them scorching black, but it was gross. I had to pick through my food in order to find the non-​burned pieces. I figured that maybe I had gotten a bad batch and anybody could make a mistake and let it burn, but after my second trip, I am convinced that the cook wasn’t trained properly due to having to pick out a large portion of charred food from that plate as well. All in all, I had a horrible experience and will probably not be back due to the racial comment and bad food I experienced. Maybe the next city I move to will have a decent Hu Hot, restaurant.

I love this place!
The variety of options they have is great and it’s always a great experience finding the right sauces and combinations.
They were having issue with the A/​C, it was awful trying to eat there and sweating.
It has been fixed though!

Great all you can each hibachi grill, best for the price in this area. Tons of food options and lots of sauces, all made right in front of you.

A favorite dining place of mine. Three stars is for the price. If it’s not Tuesday which is Student 25% Off. I can’t go cause it’s really expensive for this college student. Shame because I really enjoy the food.

My husband and I sitting in the restaurant right now and so far I am not impressed. He felt like going to ghengis grill, I wasnt quite feeling that idea, since I work at ghengis when i was younger and had my fill, so I suggested this place, also because they serve alcohol and the ghengis nearest me doesn’t. In hindsight, I am so sad I choose this place over ghengis, it did not hit the spot.
The fish is chewing, you can not taste the sauces to see which ine you would like, you can’t season your own meet, and you have to wait for your food!
I honestly recommend going to Ghengis Grill, before ever stepping foot in here, I don’t want that drink that badly.

Decent place for a good meal, only issue is the sauce table gets gross during the lunch rush and most of the sauces are mixed together. Other than that it’s a decent place with a good staff.

Amazing mongolian BBQ. I have had a handful of different places in different states and this is deffinitly a great place. Service was awesome food was fresh all around I would highly recommend.

I’m not a fan of Mongolian grills. You can usually make something that is good, but never anything really good or great.
I always feel that this place is dirty. The food line is dirty, the grill area and counter is dirty bordering on filthy. And when you walk to your table your feet stick to the floor from all the spilled food and drinks. It makes seating here less than desirable.

Gave it another try bc a friend of mine loves Mongolian grills so I suggested huhot bc its a buffet… and we get more chances if we mess up the sauce the first time (like I did)
Well… first round, the chefs didnt cook anything thoroughly, the squid was still raw squid. The tofu was still cold tofu. The meat was a medium rare (which im actually fine with) & The lomein still tasted like the bag it came out of. Didnt eat much of that plate and then we asked for our food well done the next round. He left our food on the grill probably three times longer than everyone’s and I was weirded out that our food still didnt come off the grill super hot. I just think the grill wasnt turned up high enough.
Anyways both of us have severe stomach aches now and I will not be returning.

I and my family have been coming here for years. The food has always been great!
The service has also been good.
Today, I paid extra for salad for lunch and a total of $ 14+ for my lunch. Since we were on our lunch hour and had to get back to the office, I asked for a to go box.
I was told that they do not provide to go boxes.
When I asked for a manager, he also said, «it’s our policy.» When I mentioned that I’ve seen people come in and take out food, he said,“they pay for that.“
I said,“I just paid $ 14 for my food! I want a box!” He refused.
I will encourage my friends NOT to patronize this restaurant because they do NOT have any concept of customer service!

This is a great place for decent and quick Asian fusion food. The chefs are extremely talented at cooking the food! They are fast and entertaining to watch. The waiters are friendly. The place is clean. Also, if you’re celebrating your birthday the waiters will sing to you.

3.5 stars. I would like to thank the chefs tonight! By some kind of magic, by throwing a variety of ingredients with a huge range of cook times onto a sizzling donut shaped skillet, the food turns out QUITE alright. They had canned pineapple at the bar and i recommend adding it to your bowl so you can have perfectly grilled/​slightly charred pineapple in your dish. Yum!
$ 14.99 per person for dinner is pretty steep… At any buffet, excluding las vegas, for under $ 15 you get access to a huge variety of dishes and sometimes even a Mongolian-​style bar! Despite the meats being frozen, it gets cooked up real nice.
The waitress, Ruth, was wonderful! She kept our water filled and did some crazy check-​splitting for our party of 6.
I do wish they would keep the food and grill area cleaner. The ground was always wet and sticky. The grill counter was covered in an opaque film and looked like it was wiped down with dirty water. The bathroom is also kind of a mess. The sink is halfway wrapped up in duct tape and there was some kind of strange brown tape (?) sticking onto one of the toilets.

I gave them another chance and the same. NO SAUSAGE!!! lately there is no complete buffet any more!!! SHAME ON YOU MANAGER!!! It’s the best part of the selection and their We are sorry excuse it’s getting annoying. This place is going down hill. I’m not planning to come back anytime soon.
Well last time I returned the waitress brought me some sausage from kitchen what means they have inside but they don’t refill trays I don’t know why. Saving money I think? I appreciated what waitress did but I’ll not beg for it, again. BECAUSE I’m paying and it’s on the buffet MENU !!!
