Not enough screen printing supplies. I wish the selection on practically everything was larger.

While I’m really a museum buff, this place is excellent. Interested in art work? Check out the views, landscaping, etc. Great for locals and tourist alike.

Best Art Store in San Antonio! They know a lot about printmaking and what you will need to work out of your home. They are great at responding to emails promptly and they have great in store customer service.

As far as canvases, pads, paints, and brushes, this is your go-to place for sure: a whole half of the store dedicated to painting? Fantastic. But I do wish they had a better selection of art pens: they have the dual-brush artist markers, but as far as Le Pen and the like, not much to select from. Still a really cool art store: fun to hang around in if you’re bored on a hot day as well.

You can’t beat there prices, I even price compared with and Asel’s Art Supply. They have a frequent buyers card, but they are really cheap about it. Your supposed to get a stamp every $ 25. Well, today I bought $ 100 of stuff and they said I could have only one stamp, company policy. Super LAME. The bosslady/owner is not very friendly. She’s short, brown hair, about 50. There’s another woman who works there as a manager, she’s awesome. Dina(not sure on spelling, pronounced«dye-na») is her name. If you’re going to make a large purchase or have questions try to get with her. Happy printing!

I’m pretty happy Herweck’s is nearby, and because of their awesome selection, I’m giving them a five. ALSO I took a workshop there at night on screen-printing, and it was really great. Hands-on, friendly, and above all, thorough. None of the basic goofy stuff, but seriously«you need to know this to start a business in this area» level of information. I highly recommend their workshops. The parking situation can suck unless you get lucky. And the staff are hit or miss. Some of them are really friendly and knowledgeable. Others aren’t as informative or helpful. The older staff, in my experience, are more approachable and helpful. I hear that they now do a ton of online business. They sometimes stock special equipment that’s used, so if you’re looking for a big-ticket item, it’s worth speaking to them about availability. You can get all range of supplies here, from student to pro grade. Ask someone if you want advice on materials. Or take a workshop. I’ll be doing more of that for sure.

I’ve been a customer since 1984(as a hs student) I have never been hassled in ANY way ever. They have always found what I’m looking for, ordered, or found suitable alternative. I like other stores also, but will always love visiting herwecks.

Very expensive. And the employees, are they on commission or something?! cause they always be trying to sell me or someone else something they don’t need. They do have a good professional selection of art supplies, I will say that. I wouldn’t take most of the employees advice as sound unless they’re talking bout Prisma colors or pencils or something simple enough. I’ve been going here for a long long time and the same ppl work there. The older employees are nice but the 20 – 30 somethings have always been curt. They must be super star artist because that’s how they be actin’.

Herweck’s is THE art supply store in San Antonio. Amazing selection. Especially in specialty genres. The employees know what they are selling. If they don’t offer that which you need, they will find a solution. They will order what you need or find it online. But, truly, most of what the average artist needs is available on their shelves. Whether you paint or sculpt or mix medias, Herwicks will help you find wht you need to bring your ideas to life at a great cost!

i tell you, it’s tough going from having six awesome art stores with walking distance to none. …none in walking distance that is. herweck’s is still awesome! it’s really the only shining example of a decent art store in san antonio, unfortunately. i don’t enjoy having to bum a ride downtown every time i need something from an art store. but an art store it is none the less, not a half way craft store. the selection is decent, all the important brands are there. it seems to lack a lot of items i wish they had(a bigger selection of bulk paper, more selections in drawing materials, etc) but makes up for it by having items i haven’t seen before(i got to try those new liquitex acrylic inks there. even dick blick doesn’t sell them in their 150ml bottles!) the prices could be better. that’s just wishful thinking though since i know few smaller art stores can have the kinds of prices dickblick, pearl, or artists&craftsman can have. catch them on a sale(or maybe score on their discounted items) and the prices are more my style. ;) the staff seems friendly though preoccupied(even if there is no one in the store) every time i come in. typical downtown parking: nonexistent! price and distance brought into consideration, herwecks probably won’t replace my online ordering habit while i live in this city. but if i ever need that art-store-only item in a pinch, herweck’s will do just fine!

When my sister came in to visit, she wanted to check out some art supply stores in town to see what they had available. She attends Savannah Art of College and Design(SCAD) and in her major she really has to keep up and be on the lookout for things that will keep her on the up and up. We really liked Herweck’s since they offered up quite a bit. Customer service was good and they were quite knowledgeable in the things we asked about.
