HEB on Bandera is so much fun!!! It was just built in the 1980’s and they once sold jewelry, specialty breads, homemade ice cream, had a Chinese kitchen, and had a very large garden center in the grass area by the ravine. Nowadays, it’s just the regular store like others HEB’s. It’s pretty awesome!

I am not a fan of this HEB, but it’ll do because of the convenience. It doesn’t matter at what time you go to get groceries, it is always going to be crowded. Every time I go here it’s a hassle to find parking and at times I would have to park by Office Depot. Inside it’s even more crowded and crazy. And the lines are even longer and packed. I’ve realized that the only time I need to come here is when it’s an emergency. I avoid going here on holidays because it’s even worse. But what I will say is the low prices they have at this store. They even have some good deals if you check. The prices are a lot different than the other grocery stores around. The staff here is pretty friendly and professional.

This is my first time at HEB so I didn’t have anything to compare to but Walmart and I gotta say I love this place. in my opinion I like this better than Walmart n even cheaper .i didn’t experience any of the bad smell or any of the negative things that the other reviews may have had so this will be my new grocery shopping joint

I don’t care for this HEB but it’s convenient. The issues is the set up its just not well organized in any fashion. The isles kinda seem cluttered with product placement and are not consistent with the items at each end. I don’t want a scavenger hunt I want groceries!

What can I say? I’m a typical shopper. Walked in only intending on buying a can of soup. I did walk out with soup. .. plus a few other items. Curse the convenience of modern grocery stores! But at the same time thankful. I’m torn here. Ha!

No matter what time of day, this HEB is packed. I work nearby and sometimes go during the day to get lunch. Every time I go there are a ton of people, LONG lines, and drivers road raging in the parking lot. Most HEBs I’ve been to are fairly slow during early daytime, not bustling w families buying groceries for the week. These people must not have jobs to be at. The men at this HEB also do not have manners as I’ve been leered at and cat called while shopping. Once by an employee. Sad to say nothing but low lives at this location. Didn’t used to be this way. GHETTO!

Not the nicest HEB, but it was always the HEB I went to when I lived in San Antonio, since it was close to my house. Now that HEB pluses are the standard of market stores, I guess this place doesn’t compete, however it’s still pretty good. They have a lot of variety and the prices are competitive with Wal-Mart. Love their deli and fresh products like tortillas. Always take some home back to Arizona when I visit.

This is the worst HEB I’ve ever been to in San Antonio. Its basically a Wal-Mart but with more welfare recipients. It doesn’t matter what time of the day you get here, there will always be everyone and their moms shopping. The parking lot is always packed. You might as well just park at the gas station within the parking lot at one of the pumps. Every time when I try to back out of the parking space, some chubby little kid named Juanito is in my way. You can barely cross the street into the store because everyone wants to drive their old ragged Ford trucks in front of the store. Once you’re inside just forget about getting a shopping cart. There is absolutely no room for them because of the extremely narrow aisles and morbidly obese people riding on their electric shopping carts. When you finally get to check out after spending at least 2 hours trying to shop for 1 item. All the check out lines are as long as the Wall of China. While you’re waiting in line, just write a review on Unilocal on how painfully stupid it is to shop here. The most crowded aisle is the tortilla aisle.

This Heb is always overpacked bunch of rude people as well. It lacks the prime steaks also which is a major disappointment

Not my normal HEB. Kinda crazy in here and a little unorganized. They have organic fruits and vegetable sections spread out in different areas. The store was kind of cluttered, But the employees were very friendly.

I actually think it’s odd that this HEB has such poor reviews! We aren’t in Alamo Heights people, yeesh. Ok, so this my HEB when I don’t mind fighting a crowd, and want a wide selection of Central Market Organics brand merch, close to home and without the price tag. The Aguas Frescas stand is just a big olé dollop of daisy on my frito pie! Amazing horchatas! NOM

First off this place has taken a turn for the worse over the past 5 years. Now you better make sure your car is locked. The store aisles are horribly small and they removed the self checkout. I’m sorry but the self checkout was the one good thing about this location as you could get in and out quickly. Guess I’ll be shopping elsewhere from now on.

This location has been on the decline over the past decade. They closed their Chinese food take-out stall/booth(hopefully it returns). On a positive note, they sell some beer-by-the-bottle. Interestingly they also group their wines by price. Maybe more grocery stores should do this since most people can’t taste the difference between good wine and average wine?

All three of the stars are for the produce and prepared food sections. This HEB had a multitude of options: aguas frescas, fruit cups, deli sandwiches, fried fish, BBQ, and Chinese food. Its super convenient when I need a quick lunch I can bring back to to the office for a working lunch. The rest of the store is just meh. I find the layout strange, and the store is a bit dirtier than most HEBs. Also, I have been hassled in the parking lot, and a coworker’s car was broken into here in the middle of the day. Might I suggest a security guard?

I seriously feel like I’m going to the mexican market sometimes when I’m here. they just opened the aguas frescas stand complete with chamoy covered apples. By the self service registers theres a cooler full of mexican coke(regular coke in a bottle to me). They also have a chinese to go place, a sushi place, and deli with fried chicken to choose from if you’re going to have lunch there. I think they just opened a jewelry place too which is beyond weird to me. The bathrooms seem to be always dirty and disgusting.
