Many years ago this used to be my HEB when I lived in a nearby neighborhood. This was the first time I had been three in quite a while. I usually shop at one if the Plus stores, but had just finished letting out a friend’s dogs and I needed to get some items for the day and made a quick stop. It was a little before 8 am and the store was quiet, still in order, and just a few shoppers there. It’s always a great time of day to get your shopping done. Needed to get some steaks, veggies and a few other items. This HEB had everything I needed and the quality of the products was good. It’s not a huge store, but it’s a great neighborhood store. Brought back some good memories of going there when I lived nearby. Think I will use this location more often. :)

I am giving this H-E-B five stars for a couple of reasons: 1. The meat they sell here is by far the best quality I’ve found at any H-E-B. Not to mention the endless variety that they offer here! 2. The one downside is that this location tends to be very crowded, but in their defense I will say that every time I have been nearly every single checkout is being used. Sure it’s not nearly as fancy as some of the H-E-B’s around here, but I definitely make special trips here to just to buy there choice meats!

One of the cashiers told me I wasn’t allowed to have my dog with me… He’s a service animal. I have never had a problem with having him there before. They workers even sometimes come up to me and tell my my dog is cute. But not this time, the cashier told me «just so you know we’re not allowed to have dogs in here» I told him he’s a service animal and he replied«I know» I made a puzzled look and he said«we had a dog come earlier and it was a problem» I asked him if it was a service animal and he said«no.» The management there should update their employees on their animal policy.

My wife & I come here every week and every week, it’s always the same thing, almost impressive. We step into a lane to checkout and with a lot of items being purchased, I see a lot of employees walking around, but no one is around to bag my items. I don’t come here to bag my own items, if I wanted to do that, I would’ve gone to a super walmart and used the self checkout lane. But it’s like clockwork and never fails, I end up having to bag everything myself cause no one is there to do their job. I guess I should start putting HEB Bagger on my resume since I do it every week.

I have been coming here for years. They seem to have mostly everything I’m looking for. What’s great is the people that work there. It is a small store but it’s perfect and quantity of food

Not a very friendly place. Staff seems rough around the edges. It is on border of where west side meets northwest side. Lock your car door and be aware of your surroundings. Don’t go there after dark.

Love my HEB! It’s not the newest, nicest, largest, most varied one, but it’s a great neighborhood store. Service is always friendly and efficient. They have a wide selection so I can find what I’m looking for generally. Would like a nicer meat counter and some bulk items, but you cannot go wrong. Love my HEB!

The HEB at the corner of Culebra & Culebra may not be as sexy as some of the newer stores, but they’ve made a few updates over the years to keep it competitive. All the fresh foods – meats, produce, bakery et al – are always of the highest quality. The people in the deli are particularly good at what they do. A new Walmart just moved in across Tezel, underscoring how inferior that company is to HEB when it comes to groceries. Yep, this is my HEB, and I’m happy to keep going there.

Not my favorite HEB. Always packed, selection isn’t great, and the set up just seems outdated. It has most essentials, but the more specialty or gourmet foods are easier to find at the Culebra/1604 location.

Just your average HEB. This is a basic, no frills store but it has what you need to include sushi rolls and rotisserie chicken.

This is a really nice HEB! It’s a lot calmer than those close to the loops. The deli offers hot&tasty foods, and the bakery is so sweet(dun-dun-tiss), they have hot bread ready around 7, and will give you some from behind the counter if you ask nicely. Not every store has all your favorites, and that’s my old qualm with this one. C’est la vie!

Aweful customer service. was sent to this one after the one on 1604/culebra because they don’t sell bus passes there. My check was declined because the picture was scratched. Was told I should«get with the times and get a debit or credit card.» Then I had to wait 22 minutes for them to produce documentation of their policy. They came down and said they couldnt and I should just leave. Thanks Tim.

Not as much of a rat race here as some of the larger HEB’s. Things are pretty easy to find. More like your little local neighborhood grocery store. The parking stinks sometimes. The way the lot is designed you do have to be careful that no one hits you or you don’t hit anybody else. Gas station at the end has pretty decent prices.
