I’m very upset that this place closed down. I believe it is due to the horrible location of the strip center. It’s very hard to spot while driving by and the sign is even hidden by overgrown trees. The technicians from our company and I would always go here at least once a week for lunch. Amazing food amazing sweet potato fries. R.I.P. I love you

We go here once a month. The regular burgers are fantastic as long as they’re ordered medium. Sweet potato fries are the bomb! Specialty burgers are a bit overpriced. Burgers should not cost $ 12 unless you’re on the riverwalk.

Total bill for a burger, side salad, sweet potato tots and a tea was over $ 21.00. After paying I was convinced I’d be receiving the best burger I’d ever have, but it wasn’t the case. I had the Kobe burger, which comes with arugula and bleu cheese(I also added tomato and onion). The meat was undiscernable from Angus, and was actually a bit on the dry side. Perhaps this was due to them overcooking it, as I ordered it medium-rare and received something between medium and medium-well. The cheese was on the light side(I wouldn’t complain if it wasn’t a $ 13.00 burger) and I only had a couple of bites with prominent flavor. Don’t misunderstand me, it was a good burger, but it could have been better. I’d be more inclined to return to The Cove than here, and The Cove is less expensive. The salad was nice, good mix of greens and veggies with a reasonably flavorful dressing(I had the honey balsamic vinaigrette). The sweet potato tater tots were amazing. So much better than the sweet potato fries at The Cove. Tip: order the small portion unless you’re sharing with others, and even then, a small might do for two people. My wife and I couldn’t finish them all, even as good as they are. Atmosphere is alright considering it’s in a strip mall. Service seemed messy, and I’m really glad it wasn’t all that busy when we were there. It took almost 10 minutes to get to the register to order. The servers didn’t seem to know where the food was going, and there were maybe 3 open tickets at a time. A table/ticket number system might be implemented to avoid sending the wrong food to the wrong table. I wasn’t dissatisfied to never return, and I do intend on going back to try the Baja burger(stuffed with goat cheese, chipotle cheddar cheese and jalapeños, topped with grilled onions and green olive avocado spread). If that one fails, it’s hi-ho, off to The Cove I go.

Great burgers and the Sweet Potato fries are fantastic. They are a little more expensive than most burgers, but they are very worth it. They have a portabello mushroom burger that is very good as well. Always clean and neat, it is a great place.

Mike’s salad rules! Greens, chicken, onions, walnuts, dried cranberries, tomatoes and goat cheese. The onion rings were really good too! Everyone else had burgers, which you can customize any way you want. I had the grilled chicken the last time and it was excellent as well. Kinda pricey for a burger joint, but«gourmet» IS part of their name!

My boyfriend is a nut for this place. I rarely am in the mood for hearty Angus burgers, but every time I go I am so glad I did. For leaner fare, go for the turkey burger or turkey chili — both awesome. I even like taking a turkey burger patty and putting it in my salad for a nice, guilt-free meal. Sometimes I get the turkey corn dogs and sweet potato fries off the kids menu. Not the healthiest, but it feels so much more wholesome than McDonald’s. I heart the staff and management. You can’t get any better than them.

Good selection of different burgers including bison, grilled chicken, and my favorite… Lamb(with roasted bell pepper, red onion, lettuce, tomato, goat cheese and pesto on a whole wheat bun).

I think I’ve mentioned before that I’m a sucker for good mac and cheese. So, of course, GBG upped the ante with fried mac and cheese. Believe me, it’s as good as it sounds. Somehow the noodles stay perfectly soft and cheesy inside. You really have to try them. Moving beyond the mac and cheese wedges, the turkey burger is absolutely delicious. I stopped eating red meat about a year ago, so finding a good turkey burger is essential. GBG definitely fits that bill.

I’m a fan of Gourmet Burger Grill and although the food was tasty at this location, it was slower than the Huebner location(and it wasn’t crowded) and the burger lacked the pizazz I’ve come to expect from GBG. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t up to par with previous experiences. Off night? Perhaps. I’d be willing to give it another try at this location.

I bought a Groupon for Gourmet Burger Grill a couple of weeks ago, and decided today that it was time to cash in. I waited to go until after the lunch rush so I could just get in and out. I received a friendly greeting from the cashier when I entered, and when I told him that it was my first visit to GBG, he walked the through the menu. I was sold on the American Kobe Beef burger, despite its $ 12.99 price tag. I added on some Yukon Gold crinkle-cut fries to complete the order(right at $ 15 total, w/o a drink), and anticipation began to brew… …23 minutes later, my anticipation was still brewing. There was only one person that ordered before me, and all of the other patrons were enjoying their food. Complete mystery as to what was going on in the kitchen to make a burger cooked medium take this long. A few minutes later, my food arrived. The crinkle-cut fries were fantastic! Crunchy and golden on the outside, soft and buttery in the middle. While I’m glad I tried them au naturale, I soon regretted not getting chili and cheese on them after seeing the next patron’s order. Next time, Chad. Next time. The American Kobe Beef burger, on the other hand, was just«ok.» It was cooked medium like I asked, with provolone cheese and bacon. There was nothing specifically wrong with the burger, it just wasn’t a $ 13 burger. The price led me to believe there was going to be a marching band of flavor stomping tastiness onto my palate. It ended up being more like a John Tesh acoustic ballad. To sum it up, I left with a fair amount of disappointment inside my belly. Luckily those crinkle-cut fries saved the day. The chili/cheese fries will bring me back for a second round, but I’ll more than likely just get the standard burger instead of the fancy American Kobe Beef burger.

We dined at GBG for the first time today after recently purchasing a $ 10 Groupon. We split the Monterrey Jack Cheeseburger w/Fries and a small order of Onion Rings. +Loved the whole grain roll! +Crinkle-cut fries, our favorite +Super cute tomato ketchup bottle(see photo) +Cooked to order burgers +Kitchen split our burger in half for us… very nice and unexpected! –Burger lacked flavor –Disappointing onion rings We wanted to like this place more, but it didn’t quite meet our expectations. We’ll more than likely try this place again, but we’re not yet«fans».

So, it’s my birthday and I ask my daughter what she’s going to make me for my birthday dinner. First she says«nothing» and later I heard the pots and pans jostling in the kitchen. So she tells me she’s making dinner. Cool right? Wrong? Her idea of dinner is HEB shells and cheese. Fast forward to GBG. You know the words I like to hear from a great burger joint? «How would you like that cooked sir?» That means no overcooked dried out beef patty between these buns. I had a great cheeseburger with Monterrey Jack cheese and my daughter had the bacon cheeseburger. Both were juicy and not overcooked. The crinkle cut fries were excellent. Hot, crispy, and well seasoned.

I went with my wife on Saturday evening and it was about half full. I ordered the Kobe beef burger, and while it was good, the blue cheese on the burger was simply too much. The onion rings and fries were good, and their buns are pretty tasty. The service was fair, but the burgers were a little more greasy than I’d expect from a «gourmet» burger. Would I go back? Yes, but I’d steer clear of the Kobe beef burger.

I agree largely with most of the reviews here: not an easy location to get in/out, not much atmosphere, and kind of expensive for a hamburger joint. On the«up» side, though, their burgers are genuinely wonderful — perhaps not wonderful enough to regularly compel me to drive halfway across town and fight the 281⁄1604 traffic, but wonderful enough to compel me to do it a few times a year!

Great burgers! Yes kind of pricey but the burgers are so large I can split it with a friend(and still be stuffed) so the price works out. If you don’t like big fat burger meat this isn’t the place for you. Love the variety of toppings, it’s fun to try and discover new combinations. My personal fave is the Tropical Burger, who knew mango guacamole could be so good on a burger! Also you can’t go to GBG and not get the sweet potato French fries… Yummy!

My never ending quest to taste the local burgers that made the Texas Monthly top 50 led me here to this little store tucked away in the Legacy area of Stone Oak. In deference to a previous review regarding the décor, I like a burger shack looking like a burger shack. I don’t expect soothing brown leather booths, faux flora in replicant Tuscan vases or Chagall prints glowing underneath hanging spotlights against the walls. I came here to eat a burger. I approached the order counter and noticed the lunch special of the Polynesian burger with chips and drink for $ 6.99. Sold! While waiting I looked over the to go menu to find a nice selection of burgers, salads, and desserts. Only a few items and done right I am sure, the hallmark of a good restaurant. Some of the menu highlights include a mini burger sampler of beef, chicken, turkey, crab and lamb. A Kobe burger, turkey chili, a Wellington burger with a wild mushroom duxelles, Bison burger and an Ahi tuna burger. Everything is al a carte and priced around $ 7-$ 10 bucks a burger for a half pounder grilled to your selected temperature. They have homemade fries, chips and onion rings all made to order. My Polynesian burger was aptly named for both it’s size and it’s flavor. Pepper jack cheese and a pineapple pico de gallo gave it a nice spicey sweetness that bit back with every bite. The sourdough grilled bun holds up nicely to meaty dripping juices and soaks them up becoming softer as you get through it, however that was because I took mine to go and I don’t think if you were eating it on the spot it would ever get to that point. The homemade chips were wonderful but also tasted better after cooling down a litte bit and crisping up. I think it is great when a joint dedicated to burgers can pull off a happy medium between greatness and just going through the motions. Remember people that the high end steak joints are grinding up the trimmings of prime grade beef to make their burgers so they are always going to be tastier and better quality than those who use choice and the prices will reflect that difference. No frills just great taste but I do enjoy a softer bun like the one’s you get from Fuddrucker’s or Bigz. Overall I was very happy with gbg and will visit again to try the Kobe burger because I doubt you can get that for less than $ 13 anywhere else.

Come on. 1– and 2– star reviews? Let’s break GBG down: Ten different types of burger(beef, kobe beef, lamb, portabello mushroom, vegie, bison, crab cake, ahi tuna, chicken and turkey) Twelve different types of cheese(You can look them up yourself) Fresh-cut fries, chips, sweet potato fries, onion rings, and FRIEDMACARONIANDCHEESE. The burgers are half-pounders and serves on a sourdough roll. I opted for their caprese burger of mozarella, basil, tomato, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. The burger was big and juicy and delicious. Some obviously have issue with the price, but I don’t think the $ 17 I paid for the burger, sides, and drink was too unreasonable. Besides, it says«gourmet» right in the title, so it’s not like you weren’t warned. I’ve seen several people mention the chairs, too, and while I can’t say they were the most comfortable chairs in which I’ve sat, I wasn’t sitting off the end of it, either. Perhaps it’s the restaurant’s way of letting you know that you probably shouldn’t be indulging in gourmet burgers every day(«your butt must be this big to eat here»).

My wife and I decided to try out GBG(Gourmet Burger Grill) due to our love of the great american burger. As we pulled up the location was very nice, the restaurant was like a slightly upscale sandwich shop. With indoor and two outdoor seating areas you should always be able to find seating. They have two kinds of chairs — for people just slightly larger than a medium ensure you don’t sit in the round purple chairs — the chair seems to want you to leave by not giving you enough space to sit. The menu above the register is hard to read at night so ask for a menu, especially since it has quite a few options. I decided on the Kobe burger and my wife chose the bacon cheese burger. We decided on a basket of sweet potato fries as a side. Their sweet potato fries were delicious! Eat them while they are hot — as I knew from a previous Unilocal. The Kobe beef burger didn’t seem to have the flavor of previous kobe burgers I’ve had — it was slightly overcooked — delivered at a medium well(no pink) when I had ordered medium. Garnished with arugula and bleu cheese the burger still had quite a bit of flavor. My wife enjoyed her bacon cheese burger and had great things to say about their hamburger buns. We enjoyed the food but were expecting something slightly more surprising in terms of available burgers. We would eat there again and don’t have a problem recommending it to other people, but we probably won’t put GBG into the short rotation of restaurants for dining options.

The people here are very helpful and welcoming. Their burgers are delicious, particularly the lamb burger-served with spinach, roasted peppers, grilled onions, and goat cheese with basil pesto aioli on a whole grain wheat bun. They have a wide and creative variety, including a crab cake burger, which takes a bit to get used to but it tastes very good nonetheless. Their spinach and chicken salad in a honey balsamic vinaigrette with portobello mushrooms, red onion, and Romano cheese is simple yet satisfying. Make sure to try their sweet potato fries and their battered macaroni and cheese. For those wanting to eat a low-carb meal, you can ask to replace the bun with lettuce. Although GBG is a bit pricey for a burger joint, you do get large gourmet quality burgers which are definitely worth their price. Two things I don’t like about this place is the small seating area and the fact that you have to wait quite a bit for your food.

A small restaurant located at the Legacy shopping center, this place has a lot to offer in terms of burgers. Veggie, turkey, lamb, angus and even kobe. The rolls are made fresh everyday and they have cheese choices up the ying yang! The ambiance is cozy, somewhat dimly lit and the employees are really nice.
