I went in today and got my hair dyed and cut by Christina. She was very up front and honest with me, that what I’d originally wanted to do(an «oil slick» dye job) wouldn’t entirely work with the length(or lack thereof) of my hair, and she didn’t want to waste my money on something I wasn’t going to be happy with. We talked for awhile and came up with a game plan and I came out with a STUNNING, bold new burgundy and teal ‘do. I admit, I almost stopped at the burgundy and blonde — that looked cool, too. I couldn’t be happier.

Great hair cut by Tamara. She cut a few inches off to bring my hair above the shoulders, thinned it out, and added great layers. She worked around thick and wavy areas of my hair to make it flip well.

I came into Glitzy cuts when I had accidentally bleached my roots with a highlighting kit. I walked in and Tamara took me to the chair and we discussed my options. I was very concerned that she wouldn’t be able to fix the damage I’d done, but she did an absolutely amazing job with both the cut and color! She also did my eyebrows and they looked amazing too! My total for everything was $ 130, and I gave her a $ 20 tip for doing such an amazing job. I’d go back again!

I’m a newly to San Antonio and needed a GOOD Hairstylist… I searched and came across Glitz by Lisa. As random as I am, I called the day I needed my hair done and I was surprised when Lisa offered to squeeze me in. What a blessing. Lisa is AMAZINGAND I LOVEMYCOLOR!

I have been going to Lisa’s for years for a trims here and there. I wanted a drastic change and went straight to Lisa because she knows me. Lisa is the best! She knew exactly what I liked/wanted. After the cut was done, she went over simple and easy techniques to do. Thanks to you Lisa!

I am extremely picky when it comes to people touching my eyebrows. I usually would travel clear across town to get them done, but I figured I would give this place a try. I was not disappointed! Tamara did a great job on my brows, and she was a pleasure to talk to. I’ll definitely be back!

I was looking for a very particular type of haircut, so I stopped by Glitzy Cuts and spoke with Tamara. When I told her I was going for a 1920’s style bob reminiscent of 20’s silent film star, Louise Brooks, she seemed pretty confident that she could make the cut happen. So, I made the appointment for the following Tuesday, because unfortunately they are not open on Sundays or Mondays. On the day of my appointment, I spent 2 hours there getting my hair cut and also getting fingerwaves styled into my hair. The cut did come out like the picture I had brought in, so I was happy about that. For some reason though, the waves on the left side of my head were just not cooperating and as hard as Tamara tried, they just did not look like the waves on the right. When I made the appointment, Tamara had let me know she also does manicures and she also reminded me on the day of the appointment various times. While I was under the dryer, she then gave me a photo album of her manicure work to look at. Although I can appreciate that the salon tries to be a full service salon, I felt it was a little pushy during my visit. I already have a favorite nail salon I go to that also does my eyebrow waxing and I love their service, so I’m not looking to change anytime soon. Overall, I left with the haircut I was looking for and it came out to $ 40. I didn’t like the pushy upsale feel though and the hours. My work schedule is sometimes erratic, depending when I’m on call, so I need a salon with flexible hours. Pros: — friendly staff — moderate pricing — cute salon inside — got haircut I was looking for Cons: — pushy upsale feel — closed on Sundays & Mondays

After seeing the reviews on Unilocal, particularly Allisons very accurate description of the shop — I decided to give this place a try. I’ve been in town about 4 years & have had terrible luck with finding a good(for me) stylist. I called around 9 a.m. & spoke to Lisa(the owner). I told here I have baby fine, curly hair & a LOT of it & that I needed a good cut /shaping & perhaps a color touch up. She set me up with Tamara at 11:30 the same day. I was so happy to get in this close to Christmas. Well, when I walked in the salon felt very«homey» and inviting. Very thoughtfully decorated with lovely holiday decorations & a little fireplace near the entrance. I was greeted right away by a very friendly lady(I’m sorry I don’t remember her name). Tamara walked up a couple of seconds later & greeted me nicely. She & I chatted quite a bit about what I was looking for while she looked at my hair. She really listened :) YAY! I like to think I’m not all that picky but maybe I am? Anyway, if I am, Tamara was the perfect person for me to see as she gave me the best cut I’ve ever had :) She also did a great job of blending my regrowth & putting foils of different colors which has given my hair a nice«natural» color. I can’t stop touching my own hair!!! I’m so glad to FINALLY find someone I look forward to going back to. I also hope to use some of their other services soon too! Thanks Allison for your awesome review — the strawberry filled donut description got me curious! Thanks Tamara for the great new«do». I look forward to next time & will be sending anyone who asks right to you!

I had gone here once before on a leap of faith(because I am extremely specific and picky with who does anything with my hair) about 4 years ago and got my hair colored and highlighted by Lisa, she is excellent! listened to what i wanted and did exactly the look i was going for! Great environment and quaint. Just recently went back here to get my hair touched up after 4 years because i remembered how happy i was with Lisa, and once again she didn’t let me down! Booked me last minute and came in extremely early because i was leaving town and did an amazing job! Love this place and remembered why i was so happy 4 years ago, everyone there is friendly and the place is homely. Don’t recommend any other place in SA! =)

I will never go anywhere else in SA! The owner Lisa is simply amazing. She cut my hair exactly the way I wanted, help me make the right color choice, educated me on my hair, suggested an amazing product I now use every day that allows me to make my hair look just the way it did when I first left the salon. On top of all that she came in 2hrs early to help me so I could get my hair done and get to work on time. We met up at the shop at 8:00am so I could be at work by 11:30am. While my hair was drying I had my eyebrows done by Trisha and she too was lovely. I was so insanely happy when I left I will never go anywhere else again. I spent $ 115 and will do it again any time. My eyebrows were $ 10 cut & color totalled $ 70 and I bought a bottle of Perfect 10 for $ 20.

Glitzy Cuts is like a strawberry filled donut: plain on the outside, but full of surprisingly gushy goodness. The store-front of Glitzy makes the place look like a relatively plain strip mall salon, but the inside has character, comfy chairs and a homey, welcoming feel. I went in to have my eyebrows trimmed up and had a lady named Trisha work on them. She was very friendly and didn’t seem to be in a rush. We headed over to a small room in the back where they do massages(by appointment) and I laid down on a comfy little bed while she did my eyebrows. Trisha was interested in me and asked friendly questions. I expected to be in and out in 10 minutes or so, but she took her time, waxing and then tweezing for the hair she missed in a leisurely fashion. I actually enjoyed this because I felt like she wasn’t just trying to get the job done, but that she wanted to do a good job and make sure I was happy. My eyebrows cost $ 10. Trisha also does two types of facials, a normal one and a steam one, which range from $ 35 to $ 45. Their massages start at $ 55 an hour. They also have a regular hair salon, which might be nice to try out. The clientele seemed to consist of mostly older ladies. The shop has been open for about 18 years, so they probably have a lot of customers that have been coming back for years. I wouldn’t mind going back either. The service was great and the atmosphere was homey and relaxed.
