The food is ok, pricey for what you get. The service is slow and the restraunt was far from full at noon. There was a problem(with all at our table) using a cc to pay. It was resolved. For a party of 6 a 20% tip is included on your bill. Los Patios used to be a San Antonio hotspot.

Did the Sunday brunch buffet with family to celebrate a younger sister graduating from BMT at Lackland AFB. The price is not cheap but it is well worth every penny. They had everything you could possibly want from an omelette station, to salmon, lamb, prime rib, and more. I did not order any alcoholic beverages but did see a full bar. Various sides, salads, fruit, and an entire TABLE of desserts. We also took a stroll around the grounds afterwards which was quite nice. Highly recommend!!!

The property is charming yet the food was overpriced for the quality. I ordered the shrimp and fruit salad. The shrimp salad was not that tasteful. The biscuits were a bit hard on the edges. The rooms were loud with music and people talking. It could be difficult to carry on a conversation.

The food and service are good and well worth the visit. This is a hidden gem with all the grounds and shops at Los Padios.

The grounds of this restaurant are beautiful– it has gorgeous trees surrounding the establishment and it is very calming and peaceful to dine outside when the weather allows. Also, our waitress delivered great service the entire time! The food, however, was an extreme disappointment. My husband and I each ordered enchiladas and we were both not impressed at all with our lunches. The sauce on the enchiladas has a very strong taste to it, and reminds me of the sauce they use on the t.v. dinner enchilada meals. The beans that accompanied our enchiladas had no flavor whatsoever… I don’t know if they were canned or fresh beans, but it did not taste like the chef added any of the usual spices or ingredients one would normally add to Spanish– style beans: no garlic, cilantro, or tomatoes… they tasted very, very, plain. My husband also commented that his rice was so moist and clumpy that it was stuck together and also had no flavor. Considering I’ve lived in San Antonio all my life and my husband is Hispanic, we both know how Mexican food should taste, and this was a far cry from it. I would expect a much better caliber lunch, especially since this one totaled $ 30…and we didn’t even order alcohol! Not too sure I will give this restaurant another try… the other reviews are not convincing me that Los Patios produces other meals any better. It’s a shame too, because the surroundings are so nice!!!

My family and I have been here twice for Sunday brunch. I was highly disappointed. It’s more lunch than anything. Their lunch items, mimosas, are nothing special at all. Dessert table is large but doesn’t taste that great. We went once over a year ago and my husband said he thought it was ok. So, I decided to go back and give it another shot, we even made reservations and went there this past Father’s Day. Still, not impressed. The only breakfast they really had was a waffle iron station, an omelet station with not a lot of ingredients and the cooks couldn’t even flip the omelets right. People’s omelets were flying everywhere, it was a mess. Oh, they also did pancakes. There was no breakfast meat and you couldn’t order any.

Old. Old old old old and dated. Yes, there was a huge Sunday buffet, but there was nothing fresh about it. I’ve never walked a whole buffet before and not wanted anything from it until today. All the dishes were cloaked in heavy sauces, looked like they came out of a restaurant retailer’s frozen box. Weird, indistinct fish fillets, covered in sauce. Stuffed fish fillets, covered in sauce. Smoked pork ribs covered in sauce, and too much smoke. Slices of turkey, covered in some weird dark mushroom sauce. Their *cooked* smoked salmon cold appetizer plate tasted nastily oversmoked and old. Everything tasted canned. There was even canned pineapple in their fruit salad. There was jello in the fruit and cream parfait. ??? Old person food. And appropriately, it looked to us like the mean age of the other patrons there was about 75. Other dessert items looked like they came right out of a box. Eclairs, cheesecakes. Nothing looked appetizing, all pre-fab. For $ 25/head, very disappointing. Tasted like you’re paying them $ 25 a head to reheat frozen food for you. The only reason why I gave this place 2 stars instead of one is that the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the garden scenery is, indeed, very pretty. But the food! Ugh. Go to a nursing home and pay ¼ the price! Wish we had enough of a culinary reason to want to go back. Someone call in Restaurant Impossible to fix this place!

Enjoyed the buffet for Mother’s Day — they were very organized and set up 2 full buffets and a check in system to handle the crowds. Service was a little awkward at times — several times the busser tried to remove plates we were still using, etc — but friendly and well-meaning. We sat outside under the lovely trees and discussed our favorite items on the buffet. House smoked salmon, cheese blintzes, and leg of lamb were definitely highlights. Fun watching all the babies with big bows on their heads run around in the grass and communing with the birds and the bees. Strolled the grounds afterwards… ahhh relaxing. Old school, but good for festive occasions and Sunday brunch.

The atmosphere at Los Patios is beautiful, tons of mature oak trees, wandering paths, it’s obvious why it’s such a popular spot for receptions and other special occasions. But I was completely underwhelmed with the food. I had the quiche lorraine, which only slightly resembled what I think of the dish as. The soup that I had with it was nice, but not to the quality I expected given the atmosphere and the price. Looking at the other plates at my table, i could see that there was not much to the other meals as well. Maybe dinner service is better, but it’s unlikely I’d go back just for the food to find out.

Incredibly well run front of house service and the lunch is the best anybody will find in San Antonio. Sit outside if the weather allows, because the scenery is beautiful … it’s like eating out while on vacation. While there is much to admire about the seasonal menu, the real treasures are the standby items. Don’t be alarmed by the pricing system of the menu if viewing online. It’s very fair considering the portions and enjoyment you will get from this establishment. I ate lunch there today, and I’m already wondering when I can squeeze in a second visit. Also, the waitstaff may be the most attentive in all of the city.

We sat on the patio(we were the only ones at first!) and enjoyed lunch on a Thursday. I had the salad and soup combo. The salad was lush and green and the chicken tortilla soup was AWESOME! The biscuits they give you at the beginning are soaked in butter(kinda wished it was honey) and were against my better judgment, but they were tasty. We had a friendly waitress and when she saw us gawking at the friendly squirrels she went and got a biscuit to feed it while we watched. Great meal!

The occasion: My favorite great uncle’s 80th birthday party. The venue: Right off the access road of 410 you will find a green little oasis hiding, as if the City of Highways could never quite take over it. There is plenty of outside seating for when it gets below 100º and the inside is spacious. Its actually a very convenient location if you’re coming from the north because its not too far in SA. Its a quick trip back to Austin. The people: Family I hadn’t seen in forever who live in the south, Mexico & Florida. Friends of my uncle & family gathered in order to celebrate his life’s accomplishments, and believe me there are a lot of them. I hope to one day live my life like a gypsy as he did. He printed out this pamphlet of things he did and the years he did them. One thing that jumped out at me: Me: «Tio, whats AA mean in 1978?» Tio: «Thats when I joined Alcoholics Anonymous» Me: «Oh, I uhhh thought maybe it was American Airlines. DOH!» ***AWKWARD**** The cost: $ 25 a head. Not including the reserved room… for 60 people. Yep, that comes out to a $ 1500 bill. He would not accept a single gift from anyone and insisted on paying the bill. The buffet: From 11 – 2:30pm. They had EVERYTHING one’s heart desired. When it comes to buffets, you should never ever take your time. Just shovel everything in your mouth and move on to the next table for more delightful servings of hearty meals that included tons of pasta, big hunks of meat, salads, and wonderful sides. I have to admit I was slightly disappointed that they ran out of flan before I was ready to eat some. What kinda place in San Antonio runs out of flan?! One that serves mainly American dishes. We really enjoyed the atmosphere, the people & the food. So much so that there is talk of coming back for Baby Bro’s OOTSA(this is how I refer to UTSA) graduation in May. This is the perfect place for a special event. I’d be down for this place again, as long as mimosas are included this time and they don’t run out of flan.

Lunch here is very good. Prices are just about right for the amount of food they serve. My wife had the Gazebo salad. All was good on that plate except the shrimp was swamped in sauce. The fruit on the plate was excellent though. I had the chicken fried chicken. Breaded chicken breast flattened and deep fried with gravy on top. Excellent. The fresh mashed potatoes were very nice along with the vegetable medley. Now the downside to this place is the person from the leather shop that comes in and goes table to table hawking her wares. This happened last time we ate here. We forgot about it until we saw her. She needs to go away as she interrupts a nice lunch or dinner when she wants to.

I really enjoyed the ambiance of this place, especially the bar with the wood burning in the fireplace. The fact the waitress was willing to squeeze me some fresh limeade when their specialty is lemonade made me decide the place is worth mentioning here. In fact, no deviation from the menu posed a problem. The house salad dressing is addictive in my opinion. The steamed veggies were killer! Not soggy, not crunchy; just right. I can’t remember exactly but I think the menu offered a choice of fries or baked potato; I requested steamed veggies as a tater substitute. Their country fried chicken smothered in gravy was tasty, albeit a little bland(the way most Texans insist). All in all, there was more food than I needed(but I ate it all anyway). Can’t wait to go back!

Lovely restaurant in a stunning setting; good food and EXCEPTIONAL service. A friend and I were here around 11 a.m. Saturday. There were patrons entering the restaurant(which I later realized — *DUH* — were there for a special, scheduled, event), so we just followed them on in — not knowing the restaurant wasn’t actually open until 11:30. Nevertheless, the extremely gracious staff brought us water and menus, at the table we chose in the bar area, by the fire. This«wing» of the building has windows on both sides, overlooking the entrance and beautiful shaded patio on the east, and the breathtaking grounds of Los Patios on the west. It also has a more intimate feel to it, with its warm saltillo tile floor and deep, earth-toned palette(versus the light, airy colors in the rest of the building). On walls throughout are exhibited works of local artists, available for purchase. I opted for freshly-squeezed lemonade as my beverage — an excellent choice, perhaps the best lemonade I’ve ever had — and soup and salad as my meal. The cup of soup was Canadian cheese; the salads I chose were fruit(sans the customary poppyseed dressing), and mixed greens with house dressing. The meal was accompanied by buttery biscuits. Portions were ample, and food was good; other than slightly curdled cheese in the soup(hard to avoid when reheating sauce or soup containing real cheese!), and canned, sweetened pineapple in the fruit salad, the meal was perfect. Mind you, these aren’t major complaints — I mention them only out of fairness to people reading my review. [Anyway, I was so gaga over the ambiance, the view, the lemonade and the service, I’d probably have given at least two stars for the overall experience… even if I’d been served potting soil with a side of bubble wrap!] The Gazebo at Los Patios is currently only open for lunch, 11:30 to 2:30, Monday through Saturday and 11:00 to 2:30 on Sundays, offering the buffet only; though the buzz is, at the end of this month, they will also be open Thursday nights from 6 — 10 p.m., offering wine and appetizers.

I was the keynote speaker at an event at Los Patios. Wow, the food was good, but even more the staff was so helpful! I speak it over 50 venues a year, and they were amazing to work with!!!

We dropped $ 25 a piece on Sunday brunch(less an awesome Groupon!), but we’d do it again. We overate because we had to try just a little of everything… and that in itself was quite a few bites. There was a tasty(but rich) soup. And then the summery snacky fare like fruit and seafood salads and pickled vegetables. And smoky salmon with cream cheese and capers. And fresh fruit. And entrees, including a tasty mushroom-stuffed chicken breast, a flavorful fish dish, and some gooey Italian fare. Oh, and an omelet bar. And a whole spread of deserts. We ate so much we didn’t even test the Bloody Marys or mimosas.(I’m a little shocked, too.) Not only was the food good, the service was great(Sally took great care of us)…and, of course, there’s the atmosphere. The deco inside is a little staid, but there’s nothing like being under(or sitting in the A/C and looking out at) some shade trees while you enjoy your Sunday brunch. P. S. for DOGLOVERS: you can take your pooch with you to dine on the patio

Always love coming here for so many reasons… 1) As you drive down the driveway to get here, it seems to take you to a place that you wouldn’t expect in the middle of the city. 2) The menu is just enough to give you options, but not too overwhelming that you can’t decide. 3) The buttery, freshly baked biscuits. 4) The outdoor seating on the patio with trees large enough to provide wonderful shading and atmosphere. 5) The quiet, sweet, chubby squirrels and cats that frequent the patio every once in a while. 6) The desserts. 7) Attentive waitstaff and great service. 8) The boutique shopping also located in the Los Patios area.
