The breakfast tacos and breakfast plates are all excellent! This is as close to a home cooked meal as it gets.

A Mexican restaurant in San Antonio has to deliver on barbacoa and this place didn’t. It was all fat globs with no flavor. Everything was bland, breakfast potatoes with no salt, refried beans with no flavor. Kids were happy with their breakfast tacos. Chicken fried steak was a bit of insult to chicken fried steak with greasy breading that didn’t stay on and was incredibly thick compared to the meat inside. Toast was served dry with no butter or jelly provided. We won’t be back.

This s not a 5 star restaurant, but truly a 5 star value. Drove through at 5:30AM and had EXTREMELY reasonably priced breakfast tacos. Served hot fast and with a smile and that early in the morning what else could you ask for. Will be back in San Antonio next week and will make it a point to stop here. This is extreme value dining perfect on a limited budget.

I enjoy Benning for a quick breakfast. Through the week it can get busy with high school students and others. But. It delivers all I expect. Good and attentive wait staff. Average prices.

This place is on point with its Mexican food which is surprisingly hard to come by in San Antonio TX.

This is a solid three star place. Look it will take a lot to get five stars in this town. We are Mexican food. I had the mole and it was good but too runny. It needs density and this wasn’t quite there. I would give this place 4 stars because of the value this place has with $ 5 lunches galore. Benny’s is real good not great. Will be back.

Very decent fajita tacos for $ 2.25, a lot of meat and the beef is tender. I am from Houston so I am very picky about my Mexican food, but I think the average person would be happy. The tortillas taste like there out of a pack, not like there’s a lil grandma in the kitchen. I’m sorry, I’m spoil but overall pretty good

This place has hands down the best authentic Mexican food you’ll get! The staff is super friendly and the food is priced well. Husband and I went to an upscale Mexican place and ended up back here because the food was better! Love it!

Food is pretty good here. Sometimes the street tacos are a bit greasy, but we love going here.

We love Benny’s. Food is great and you can feed a family for very little. Waitresses are always very nice!

We picked up tacos to go which took 25 minutes, which is not a big deal to me if the food was good but we ended up getting the worst tacos I’ve ever ordered! The beans were burned and they tasted nasty! The chorizo and potato is soo greasy. NASTY! Nasty! The place is dirty. My first time coming here and my last time.

I have pretty low standards, but this place is just so dirty, especially on the weekends(I assume the manager/owner isn’t around on these days). Last time I went in for lunch, there was trash and dirt strewn across the floor and the waitresses were just walking around it, each acting like it wasn’t there. If that’s what the front looks like, I shudder to think what the kitchen must be like. When I did pick up my order, the beans were old and crusty and the enchiladas had been dropped into my to go box so hot that they had fused with the styrofoam container. I had not seen that before! At least the prices are really, really low… But they’d have to be, wouldn’t they? I’ve enjoyed the fried chicken tenders — they’re actually cheaper and the combo is bigger than Whataburger’s down the street. As for the breakfast tacos, I don’t find the beans very flavorful so I haven’t bothered going back for that. No good bean and cheese tacos here. Honestly, I prefer the beans of the Taco Cabana across the street. If you do go here(and I don’t recommend it but the location is convenient from work so I’ve been a few times), just stick with the fried food. Or go eat at the Thai place across the street instead.

It’s not the cleanest and it’s appearance was just slightly questionable but I really liked the food and service. I went in with some skepticism and left looking forward to my return. I had a taco plate and it was tasty and stove hot! The prices were the lowest I’ve paid in years and the service was fast and friendly.

Delicious Carne Guisada tacos, perhaps in the top 3 of San Antonio. Super friendly staff. I stop here often on my way into work, the staff is always friendly and the service is fast. I’m in and out with my taco order in just a few minutes.

haven’t tried the mexican food yet. just can’t get enough of the chicken tender basket and burgers. Actually had their breakfast tacos though. They were ok. Might try and grab a simple fajita taco next time.
