Great prices, greater food. It’s a pretty long wait so maybe try and call ahead. Their root beer floats/shakes are a must try!!!

The hamburger was pretty good. The onion rings were cold and not as good as the ones you buy at the frozen department at your local grocery store. My 1 hamburger and 1 onion rings took over 45 minutes to receive. People would order 25, 3550 cheeseburgers over the phone. Window orders had to wait their turn in line. Seems to me that a waiting window customer should take precedence over 35 hamburgers. At least have 1 cook for ridiculous hamburger orders and 1 for window orders. Don’t think I’ll ever be back. If you go and find yourself waiting 45 minutes and you’re shaking your head don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Everything is homemade to order. Incredibly fresh and you can’t beat 5 cheeseburgers for $ 4.50. Worth the wait if there is a line. Visiting from Houston and will stop by again when we come back.

This place is nasty and fly infested. The lady at the window was very rude. The 2 gentlemen on the grill are eating fries as they flipped burgers. My order took over 45 minutes. The price may be cheap… Id rather pay somewhere else.

Stopped here for lunch on the trip home from Garner State Park. I like to look for mom and pop type places rather than go straight to the fast food chains. Also the other reviews made it hard to pass up. We had a cheeseburger, corn dogs, fries, and a chocolate shake. Everything tasted great! The burger was a good size and the shake had a nice consistency with the right amount of chocolate. It took a little bit of time for the food to be ready but that makes sense because they make everything to order. Two tips: bring cash because they are cash-only and call ahead to place your order so you don’t have to wait.

It’s a Monday night and a 45 – 50 minute wait. Not a large crowd. 3 orders ahead of me. It’s ridiculous.

Been coming here since I was very little. Great tasting food for a cheap price! The burgers are pretty small so you might want to order two. The special they currently have is 5 burgers for $ 3.85. The fries and desserts are delicious.

We drove by and the sign caught my boyfriend’s eye so we stopped. The food was alright, it was pretty good but very greasy and I could feel it killing my body more quickly than my usual eats lol. Idk if it was worth the experience of getting it tho. It were good but not outstanding. The employees are kinda… Ehhh I don’t wanna say RUDE… exactly… but they definitely aren’t customer service orientated. Ok, whatever… We had to wait a loooong time which I don’t really mind, they are obviously very popular. People were coming to pick up orders they had called in which was definitely the only way to go here. They were ridiculous orders. Two dozen burgers? Twenty burgers? Things like that. If I ever did eat here again I would definitely call the order in to avoid the people lingering around the place. Mostly normal peeps but there were enough weirdos to make me hate being there. Like, me and boyfriend were sitting at one of the picnic tables when we realize we forgot something on our order so he goes up to the window(it takes like 20 minutes for him to get any acknowledgement) but as soon as he gets up some random guy sat on the other side of the picnic table. Ok… I don’t mind sharing but literally every other table but one is empty… I ignore him but maybe 10 minutes later I get up to hand boyfriend something. I take two steps, give him the thing and turn around and the guy has immediately moved into the spot I was sitting at??? …Why? Is this some show of dominance??? What??? I’m just totally perplexed. Is this harassment? I just… Sat at another table but I was disturbed lol. They also only take cash, in this day n age of square and everything. Anyway, overall I don’t think the food was worth the hassle.

Wow, this place brings back fond childhood memories. I remember as kid we pulled up in a station wagon heading to the ’68 Hemisphere World Fair(I’m dating myself now), and they sold burgers 6 for a $ 1.00! I kid you not. Those were 1960’s era prices! Over time, it changed to 5 for $ 1.00, & so on, & so on. Those were some darned good burgers when you were a hungry kid. Then in my teenage years I would sometimes walk home from high school and use my lunch money to buy one of their huge rootbeer floats for $ 1.05(that’s with tax!). I ADORED their rootbeer floats — especially walking home in the hot summer sun. It’s a greasy little dive but it’s a southside icon that’s been around probably since the 50’s! Time to take a road trip and go visit the old neighborhood!

It’s my 200th UnilocalREVIEW! *Applause!* *Oooohs* *Aaaaaahs* Ohhhhh Floyd’s– you’ve been open a long time and are a gem in the south side of San Antonio. Be prepared to wait. My friend and I decided to share a double cheeseburger and chocolate milk shake; we waited an hour. Other people ordered many more burgers, think 10, and 15. They sell 5 hamburgers for $ 3.85 apparently. Cash only– no credit/debit cards, no checks, etc. You’ve been warned. The food: Okay, it was pretty amazing, and once I took the first bite of my burger I was wishing we ordered more. Apparently they have lunch specials, and they usually close between 9 – 10.

I was driving on this side of town when Floyd’s caught my eye. I am a burger lover so I was intrigued and decided to give them a look on Unilocal. The reviews encouraged me to stop by and order a burger. The wait was a bit lengthy. I probably waited about 25 minutes. I expected it being that there were already people gathered waiting outside and it was a Saturday afternoon. The area is a bit sketchy so I do advise calling in an order ahead of time(which is what I will be doing). The burger itself was delicious. I would describe it as Whataburger if I considered Whataburger to be good. What? Yes, I do not like Whataburger. This is what Whataburger would taste like(to me) if I was in agreement with its hype. I will be venturing back out to Floyd’s for my burger fix despite the twenty plus mile distance.

Menu preview since no one had one up when I was wondering! Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, steak burgers, chicken burgers, fish sandwiches, and a fish basket. Hot dogs, chili dogs, fries, onion rings, shakes, malts, banana splits. All your basic home barbecue essentials… reminds me of Labor Day at the family’s house! The burgers are small and simple but deliciously reminiscent of childhood meals. I didn’t care for the onion rings because of the breading; however, the fries are good! Floyd’s is known for it’s Big Red shakes, so don’t skip dessert! Friendly service too. I just can’t give 5 stars because I know you can make all of this at home, but if you haven’t been, check it out! Rating system: 5 stars = I’ll drive across town specifically for this, and rave to all my friends about it! 4 stars = Would recommend visiting. 3 stars = Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars = You might be able to drag me here. 1 star = I will not be returning.

I’ve heard good things about this mom and pop burger place. I just finished up at a client’s office on Saturday evening(September 27, 2014) and Floyd’s wasn’t that far out of my way. If you’re looking for indoor eating in air conditioning then this isn’t the place for you. If you’re looking to enjoy a nice outdoor experience then you should make the drive to sample it yourself. So, how was it? It has a genuine good hitting your taste buds flavor. I felt a bit of nostalgia while ordering as I had to walk up to place my selection. There are picnic tables to sit on under a covered patio and those things alone bring back a flood of memories from similar places my parents brought me to many decades ago. Make sure you tell them exactly the size of what burger you want as I intended to order two of the smallest burgers on the menu but wasn’t clear enough and received the regular sized ones instead. You pay only after they have called you to pick up your order. That’s okay, I think it only fair to try the larger burgers before commenting anyway. If you’re on the south side and are looking for a good mom and pop place, head to Floyd’s.

If you live on the SE side of town and never been to or heard of Floyd’s then you my friend have got to get out more often. 5 burgers for $ 3.25. Then add small fries and a drink and you’ve already spent less than the sucka who goes to Dairy Queen. I must warn you the place gets insanely packed, at least whenever I come here. As soon as I arrive and place my order, voila, the cavalry comes! I have to say though the last time I dined here I wasn’t too pleased. The service was good but I had to wait til my order was ready to get my lemonade, which was good and freshly squeezed. The fries were good but overly salted for my tastebuds. The burgers were okay and could’ve been better had they not forgotten to include mustard instead of just ketchup. Another thing I’ve never liked about Floyd’s was the dining«al fresco» where you had to contend with natures elements like the wind and flies. And some random guy just parking himself at my table without my permission so he can light up his cigarette was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I just threw my last burger in the garbage. I would’ve normally ordered a shake after I had finished but I was deterred by the crowd in line. No way was I gonna wait 30 minutes for my shake to arrive after waiting for a while for my food and drink. It was also getting dark and this area does get pretty sketchy when the sun goes down. When I was there some skinny crackhead was selling chips and drink out of a backpack, which was probably stolen. What was even more creepy was that he was still there trying to sell the same stuff to other Floyd’s customers. With as long as Floyd’s has been in business, over 50 years to be exact, you’d think the owner would consider expanding like having people eat indoors instead of outdoors and improved service and wait times. But with the low prices, what more can you expect?

Great, greasy burgers… wait is kinda long if you just show up without calling your order in… but hey, 5 burgers for $ 3.25…I’ll wait for that. Hubby and I can eat for $ 5.00…and that includes onion rings, too! Best value in town…

Oh boy… I grew up having this stuff shoved in my face and I suppose I just didn’t give a darn back then. Although nostalgic coming back to this place as an adult was a huge let down. I was completely grossed out by the lack of sanitary conditions. I suppose pulling up to this place you don’t expect to get a burger that’s hasn’t been touched by a sweat ridden hand? I bought 3 cheese burgers, some gross floppy fries that leaked through the paper bags they were served in and a big red which was served out of a can for cost reasons I’m guessing. Oh and CASHONLY!!! This place does not take credit cards… I had fun but I won’t be coming back here anytime soon unless I’m feeling fear factorish…

This review is not about the 5 burgers for $ 3.25 deal. [floyd’s is a five minute bike ride from my house, but I still consider it «way south.”] I had to make my way south, and found myself at the confluence of Clark Avenue, Southcross Boulevard and Goliad Road. Name the neighborhoods in San Antonio that have a boulevard and an avenue cross in the vicinity of a backwards street name. I had never driven by Floyd’s when I wanted to stop, that the size of the crowd told me, «keep driving.». Tonight, I saw one car and zero people loitering at the picnic tables, so I decided to stop. And I’m glad I did. I ordered a regular double cheese all the way, mustard only. No fries. No drink. $ 3.12 out the door. For $ 3.12, you could could get a double cheese and small fry at McDonald’s and have change in your pocket. But you would be trading convenience for family-run, «I live here, I serve here» attitude. When was the last time you walked up to an outdoor counter, ordered and was told, «Pay when you pick up»? The buns were toasted on the burger side. The patties were unseasoned, and the cheese was scant(but perfectly melted). Loved the bagged shredded lettuce and pre-sliced tomato and pickle chips to meat to bun ratio. A lot of lettuce, ample tomatoes and pickles. Just make sure you get what you ordered. My all the way, mustard only was a fail. No mustard. Just a perfectly melted piece of cheese between two unseasoned patties. Where are the onions? I guess you have to ask for them. If you want a no frills burger and you find yourself in the Highland neighborhoods southeast of downtown, stop here. The burger won’t wow you, but you’ll be satisfied with the journeyman’s approach to a staple of an American classic. Recommended if you’re in the neighborhood and there isn’t a line.
