Small but has great history! This is one of my spots I stop on my runs along the river. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If you see their resident HUGE yellow/white cat… greet him. His name is Mosses. Safe running ya’ll!

I love it here. Lots of people on the weekend barbecuing and kayaking. Perfect place to go walking, running or biking.

A great park along the San Antonio River! The park is built around the banks of the river, with lots of picnic tables and places to hang out by the river. However, you can’t swim in the water. Kind of a shame, but that water is nasty. I’ve never been able to find restrooms here. The park is well patrolled, so it feels safe. There’s lots of bike trails that wind the way through the park, and along the Mission Trail. There’s lots of wildlife to see through here. I saw lots of turtles and egrets along the banks of the river. The park has plenty of grass to play on, and wide running trails. Most places here have BBQ pits, and you can even kayak through the park! Check this park out if you’re passing through! Bring your fishing pole, but leave the swimsuit behind.

Love to take my dog for here! He’ll jump into the San Antonio river and there is ample shade for walks.

Love this park. Really a gem hidden way behind the busy street of Military drive. Good for walking, bike riding, picnics, bbq, and great for the kids to just run around. People fish in the river also there is usually a kayak rental located by the military dr. entrance.

This place is truly amazing. From what I’ve seen and heard, Espada Park has come a very long way. Now is the resurgence of this delightful outdoor destination, with deliciously scented smoke that fills the air from endless BBQ pits, kayakers making their way down specialized chutes, children and adults alike hop across rocks and dip toes and fingers in the river water, kites fly high, people maneuver corners on bikes… what I am saying is that there is just so much to see and do, there’s bound to be something for you too. My only wish is that they stayed open later. Much like most of the Mission attractions, things close down around 5 or 6pm on the weekends, which is the only feasible time I have to make my way down to the southeast side of town. But all that aside, take a couple of hours this weekend to bike, walk, jog, or skip along one of their many scenic trails or do any or all of the aforementioned things :)

Just went here to have a small BBQ with the family. I have not been here since the place has been renovated. The little picnic tables have a grill next to them so it is not necessary to bring one, but they are quite small and who knows what has been grilled on them. The table itself is sturdy and on a concrete slab, instead of just being on the grass which was nice. It was not very crowded, but that was fine with us. There is plenty of place to bring the kids to roam about and even play some football or frisbee.
