Food was amazing. Maybe the best BBQ I have had in San Antonio. My Suggestion would be the Ribs or Brisket both were very tender and moist.

Food was great had the 3 meat option and ate off that one plate 3 times. Staff was very kind and professional. Glad the sauce came on the side as I am not a fan of bbq sauce of any kind. Good bbq stands alone without sauce.

Driving up the place had a POW flag and American flag flying so I already felt good about it. Inside resides more military memorabilia, and the smell of meat that has been smoked to perfection. Ordered the 2 meat plate with 2 sides. For the ribs the meat just fell off the bone. It was so good. The turkey was flavorful and juicy. For sides I had the macaroni salad and baked beans, but then also devoured my sisters deviled egg salad. All served up with slices of white bread. I took a container of banana pudding home and it was southern comfort.

Talk about«don’t judge a book by its cover», this place is most definitely one of those hole in the walls with yummy food! We stopped here on our way out of town, using my trusty Unilocal app. So we walk on few tables and a little window to order your food. So we go up order our food and have a seat. Price was definitely reasonable!!! Ordered the three meat platter(ribs, sausage, and brisket) with potato salad and beans Kids brisket sandwich Turkey sandwich Sausage 1 beef platter with ribs And brisket platter. Now the sausage wow, amazing!!! Ribs-on point!!! Brisket– not so much, although I must say I’m very picky about my brisket, but even hubby wasn’t that impressed. Brisket sandwich(kids) comes with two huge sandwiches, that was pretty good! Potato salad definitely store bought Beans– typical beans Turkey sandwich– pretty tasty BBQ sauce– very yummy!!! So overall I’d be back in a heartbeat!!!

Oh Ed’s, I had such great hopes for you. But unfortunately I’d tasted somewhere else somewhat recently. I’m not going to say where, but instead will try to judge you by your own merits. Let’s start by saying, this was really good BBQ. This was quintessential Texas BBQ, something I can’t get in the frozen North too easily. I had the loaded baked potato with brisket. It was both extremely huge and very tasty. The brisket was quite possibly the best, most smoky brisket I’ve ever had. Yet, it felt like something was missing — maybe some green onions? Or perhaps some bacon? I don’t know. It was good, really good but not out-of-this-world-I’m-booking-a-flight-right-now-to-come-for-more good. The BBQ sauce was strange to me. I’m going to chalk it up to preference, but I did not prefer it. I would come back if I were in the area. I would try this place out, they really have a down home, comfy welcoming vibe to them. Their food is really good(I did give 4 stars) and their prices are more than fair.

We found the brisket outstanding. The ribs and sausage was good but we would go back for the brisket. It was thick cut with a great smoke flavor. This is local place that is off the normal path and an experience in and of itself. Very nice staff.

Amazing BBQ! Been craving some great BBQ and finally satisfied! Ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich and very happy. Only regret was not ordering the ribs the folks at the next table ordered. Next time. Smoke level was perfectly flavored and the sauce made it that much better. A must try!

Good BBQ for a good price! The wait was a little long but it was totally worth it, the cashier is super nice. This place needs more credit!

Great brisket, ribs, and chicken, beans have chopped up brisket in them You order out of a little window, and decore is all African American, and music was old 70’s soul music, the people who eat here must no be used to seeing white guy’s, as I got some surprised looks, but if you like great bbq this is one of the best in San Antonio,

The beans and the macaroni salad was good. The brisket was dry, tough, cut too thick and lacked flavor. I actually threw the brisket away. The onions slices were old and cut from the end of the onion. The chicken was good. The sausage I’m not sure, I’ll eat it later. Would I go back again, I’m not really sure. Something tells me that this place is a lot better during lunch.

The brisket bark is very good, but I would say that is about it. There is not much seasoning once you get to the center of the meat. Without the bbq sauce, it would be pretty bland and dry in the middle. I still think it is a great deal for BBQ and would come to try the other items.

Where has this place been all my life?! Yes at first we were kindda iffy when we drove up and saw the outside but had no regrets afterwards. I got the the loaded baked potato with brisket, cheese and sour cream. It was awesome. I couldn’t finish it, too big. My husband got the 3 meat plate with sausage, brisket, pork ribs, Cole slaw and macaroni salad. Everything was very delicious. The brisket hands down is the best, great flavor and melts in your mouth. Will definitely continue visiting. Oh yea we got a slice of sweet potato pie for dessert… awesome!

We were on the hunt for the finest BBQ in Texas(that happened to be off the highway between Corpus Christi and Dallas) and I believe we found it! The Beef Brisket was the best I’ve ever had, it was tender, smokey, and rich with flavor. The pinto beans were also exceptional and the people ruining it were extremely friendly and on point with their service. Highly recommended!

I got the 3 meat combo, I added a picture. Anyway the brisket was the best of the 3. It was juicy, tender, and had a good amount of fat not too overwhelming. The sausage had a good pop when you bite into it but had a hit of time left out in the open. Still I’m sure if it was fresh it would be great. The ribs were tasty but not constant. One rib meet fail off the bone the other was a battle. Potato salad was great! The pinto beans were good and the sweet tea was the . Customer service was not so good due to the fact they missed charged me and the 2 managers working at the time told me to pay 2 different money amounts that I owed. They were still friendly to me so I wasn’t upset. Overall can be a great place on a good day or an alright meal on a bad one. I give it a 3 stars because I can’t give it a 3.5 and will give them another go to change my mind.

I didn’t want to like Ed’s Smok-N-Q because it’s too far from my home and to add it to my BBQ rotation would be both time consuming and costly. Much to my disappointment, Ed’s delivered the goods and I could do nothing more than stuff my gob with fatty brisket, sausage and ribs while shaking my head and repeating, son of a *$#&%! Ed’s is a unique place compared to other BBQ joints I’ve visited. The restaurant is an old drive-up carhop place but unfortunately you must go inside to order. There’s a smallish dining room with a couple of tables and several booths inside and a small window at the front from which the pit master pokes his head and takes orders. The menu is to the immediate right of the window as are three soda display cases with Big Red and assorted other«Big» flavors. Don’t worry, they also sell tea and lemonade out of the back. The menu is a representative sample of what we’ve all come to recognize as standard BBQ fare — chicken, brisket, sausage(Lockhart, TX), ribs, and chopped. You can order by the pound, or choose a 1, 2, or 3 meat plate, or perhaps a chopped sandwich that appear quite large. Sides, also, typical, with assorted varieties of beans(pinto, baked), macaroni and potato salad, and cole slaw, corn(not creamed). I chose the 3 meat plate: brisket, ribs, sausage, which comes with two sides of which I chose potato salad and corn. The potato salad was just right — not mustardy, potatoes cooked perfectly, and with a hint of sweetness. The corn was fresh and crisp but not seasoned best I could tell. The meat, the reason we go to BBQ joints, was pretty dang good. The meat had such a deep smoke that I was left wondering how they could infuse so much smoke into their meats without drying them out… Aesthetically, the ribs weren’t very pleasing but to the palate they were smoky, fatty goodness. They seemed to be glazed a tad but the glaze was smoked on and was not at all wet to the touch. The brisket had a nice strip of fat across the top that melted in the mouth and like the ribs, had a deep smoky flavor that I just loved. Ed’s offers some lunch specials a few days a week but I’d check before going just to make sure. There are a couple of tables outside if you prefer dining al fresco. They take credit cards and cash and appreciate your tips according to the jar on the counter. So, if you find yourself on South W.W. White, you’d be a fool to drive past Ed’s Smok-N-Q!

I love this place. Good food, good music, good people. Reminds me of Saturday cookouts at my mom’s, a simpler time that so many of us gave forgotten about. With everyday life obstacles being thrown at us, it’s nice to just go somewhere and just hang out and talk over great food. The ribs fall off the bone at the slightest touch, the chicken sandwich and sausage sandwich are amazing, but I absolutely love the loaded baked potatoe. Enough for two people to eat, but you may not want to share. Lol. If you can stand room for desert, I beg if you to get their banana pudding. It will make you kiss the cook, and slap yo momma. Side note: sweet tea is one thing, but their swamp water aka Arnold Palmer, is a whole other class.

The restaurant is a converted sonic and it’s been decorated with all kinds of dallas cowboy and military odds and ends. At just a first glance, I can tell the owners are hardworking, old fashioned people who appreciate service men and women and don’t tolerate the younger, «sagging» generation.(See photos of outside signage) The place was busy since I came on the later end of lunch time, and the wait time to order and get my food reflected that. But they had pecans on the tables to munch on while I waited. I got the 3 meat only plate so I could try as much as I could handle. Delicious. My plate consisted of pulled pork, chopped brisket, and sausage– with onions and pickles of course. The meat was tender and seasoned well, and the sauce on the tables was good. Definitely recommend for some good bbq.
