Staff is always great, perfect casual and quiet place. They have the best hummus, and chicken pesto crepes! I got a salad and everything was so fresh and crisp, best I’ve had in awhile.

3.5, but worth the 4.0 stars because the service was great. Server’s suggestion for chicken pesto crêpe and breakfast crêpe were on the mark. I don’t see how anyone could complain about value in the meal for the price, because the portions are massive. Choosing from their gargantuan menu was quite difficult. Breakfast is served all day, and the place is pretty quiet and sparse, so if you’re nursing a hangover, this might be a great option.

Apparently not as COOL as I am. Cool café just didn’t hit the spot. This is based on visiting Cool on three different occasions and being slightly underwhelmed each time. The atmosphere is hip, I love the projector playing odd shows or old Beetles jams as well as the spicy colored décor; but I don’t come to a restaurant solely based on Cool(pun intended) factor and ambiance, the food is what makes or breaks a small budding restaurant and this café is a miss. High priced fares for what is delivered. Nothing feels authentic in the style of cooking and the bland crêpe that I received(noted from the waitress as the most popular) was lack-luster. My last appearance at cool was nearly $ 50 for a boring parmesan flat bread appetizer and two lunch crepes with an iced tea. Far too expensive for the food that was delivered. Spend your money elsewhere, Cool Café just isn’t worth the hype.

OMG! I had been craving dolmas forever and not just any dolmas but good dolmas! These hit the spot and their Atlantic crêpe was just as fabulous! This place hit the spot and every craving I was having!

As much as it pains me to do so, I’m done with this restaurant. It is close to home, and the food and service has been pretty consistently good. Until yesterday. I’ve been a VIP member for years, sometimes going in twice a week, usually bringing at least one friend and my husband. Once, when I had a bad experience about a year ago, the owner was quick to recognize that I was a frequent customer and offered me a free meal to get me to agree to come back. Well, that type of caring is now ancient history with Cool Café. Last night, I went there with husband and a friend. The first thing that hubby asked the waiter was whether or not the sabzi came with radishes. Nine times out of ten, the restaurant is out of them(even though the menu says that it comes with them), and he will order something else. He was assured that they did, indeed have radishes. When it came out, lo and behold, no radishes. When we asked the waiter to get them, he came back and said they were out, and that the owner had offered a 20% discount. After being lied to, a 20% discount was not going to appease hubby, so he took off to H.E.B. and bought some radishes(a whopping .83 cents!) and brought them back and added them to his appetizer. I then received the Veneziani dish that I ordered. I had ordered it with shrimp, and it had none. In the menu, it claimed to have artichoke hearts in it. I found not one single heart or even quarter of one. I found 3 little leaves. Really, no exaggeration! I asked about them, and was told that if I wanted them, it would be an extra charge. I wanted them, since I had my taste buds set on them, and sent my meal back for them and the shrimp. If the owner can’t afford them, he should raise the price-I wanted the meal I saw on the menu, and didn’t want or deserve the attitude of the owner. This chintzy, uncaring and greedy attitude lost them a VERY loyal customer, and this review will be shared on my FB page for all of my friends. The poor waiter had only been there 2 days, and did a fantastic job. I tipped him a well-deserved 30%, along with paying extra for something I should have received in the first place. The money was beside the point! It was the owner’s attitude that sucked. No wonder this restaurant can’t seem to keep waitstaff. They are probably too busy fielding complaints about the bad attitude of the owner to make decent tips. So, for a couple of bucks of chintziness and bad attitude, this restaurant lost a whole bunch of money, and a loyal family of customers. When you think about Mediterranean food, go to Pasha instead!

I usually am a fan of Cool Café; after an office move, this restaurant was now right around the corner! I was excited! I ordered my tried and true, chicken pesto crêpe. The chicken was dry, dry, dry. Also, there wasn’t enough feta for the dish. Also, my side salad had a measly olive and grape tomato, and hardly any balsamic vinaigrette. Note to chef: update the dressing! My server, Angel, was friendly and responsive, and always made sure my water was topped off and asked if we needed anything. Cool Café has potential; but it’s going to take a little effort to make the dishes pop and contain the right amount of flavor.

Worst Place ever, terrible server, food and OWNER– Threatened to call the cops wow ! Surprising… after reading the comments this is not the first time they have done that. So here’s the story obviously not worthy of being threatened to have the cops called. so we decided to try cool café and I should have read the reviews before but we didn’t. I guess we should have know that since there was only one customer in the place that might mean something but we thought we would try anyway. So…It started with being served cold coffee, the creamer was spoiled but i didn’t complain i just pushed my coffee aside. So we order and my husband asked for over medium eggs server said no problem then came back and said what kind of eggs do you want and again my husband says over medium. We get our plates and mine well it was OK edible but that’s about it. So my husband goes to sink into his egg and the yolk is completely done. So we tell the server and she begins to argue and says that is over medium then she grabs the plate with obvious attitude and as she is walking away says you should have ordered over easy as she walks away i said excuse me we do not want the eggs remade she ignores me and keep walking . so I followed and went over to where i could see her and the cook arguing about the eggs again i said excuse me and they do not answer so i get closer and knocked on the wall and said excuse me . He finally comes out and I told him i dint want the order remade i just want the ticket he says OK good! REALLY! then he says those eggs are fine he should have ordered over easy if he wants a runny yolk! at this point i am shocked that he is arguing so i said no he orders his eggs the same way at other places and the yolk is never cooked all the way maybe you should look it up. He then gets mad and tells me i need to «get out«from where i am standing because i cant be that close to the back and i said wow it wasn’t a problem till now just give me the ticket so we can go so i leave and walk out and tell my husband to come pay for the ticket turns out the cook is the OWNER and he refused to remove the plate from our ticket even though my husband did not touch it. Talk about service… Then again he proceeds to argue with my husband about the stupid eggs and my husband at this point is pretty much laughing at how angry him and the server are about the eggs and my husband tells him don’t worry i will tell everyone I know how terrible it was here and the server then says you need to leave or I am calling the cops. My husband says WOW really over eggs go ahead! So we paid and left and yes he still charged for the damn eggs! in any case just shocking as an owner/operator who says he’s been in the business for 20 years to treat customers like that. For the price of the plate he could have paid for 6 dozen eggs. I don’t normally write reviews but i just felt i had to add to the other comments as you Can see more bad than good which speaks for itself.

Not a big fan of Greek food, but this place is not bad. It’s not something I would crave, but the lamb isn’t bad. I had the lamb gyro, and the pita was actually really tasty. Flavors were decent, too. I wouldn’t recommend the side salad though. It was pretty heavy of the balsamic, and something just didn’t taste right overall.

I like this place, but don’t LOVE it. The food is good, but they have bland tzatziki which is a cardinal sin in the food world. On Friday evenings they have belly dancing, which is frankly just kind of loud and awkward. The belly dancer I saw was very talented, but I would much rather enjoy my food and conversation.

I still think that this place could improve their food. I have tried different things but the flavor seems to lack. It is not my first choice and if they improve the flavor of their foods then I will be back.

I would definitely eat at the Cool Café again, provided my meal was paid for and I was given one hundred dollars for my pain and suffering.

Very nice and colorful… had more Indian style décor than middle eastern? Service was nice and food came out quick. I had the savory crepes with crispy edges or the potatoes to go with… it is very good! Good for vegetarians… lots of options to choose.

After careful thought and much deliberation about writing this review, I decided to put my unease at rest and read the review that had already been written about this restaurant. If 5 out of 13(now 6 out of 13) reviews say something ain’t right, well, you be the judge. I can say with confidence that I’ll never set foot in a «Cool» Café again. In my opinion you should earn the«cool» in your name, or at least live up to it. I had ordered quite a large amount of food and asked for a quote prior to purchasing. The total was in the hundreds of dollars; this was completely acceptable for the size of the order, so I went ahead and placed it. The food was mediocre, at best. Most of it was overcooked, the chicken was reasonably dry, and the heat-to-eat ratio was way off: who wants to eat cold kabobs and rice? Not me, or my friends and family. Then came the real slap in the face. My bill was significantly higher than what we had agreed on prior to the order. I completely understand suppliers changing prices, maybe needing to special-order certain ingredients for less popular dishes, but neither of these were the case, and I was not a happy camper. Similar to another reviewer(I’m glad you said something so I didn’t feel like a crazy person) I was threatened with them calling the police. Funny thing though, the police can’t force me to whip out my credit card and pay for something when I have a hand-written estimate of the cost. But I’m all about convenience sometimes, and while the bill was reduced slightly it still wasn’t where we had agreed, yet there comes a time when you’d rather just be done with something than to drag it out even further. When I think of fantastic restaurants, I would never imagine«well we’re going to call the police,» being said to a normal, reasonable customer. The owners need to figure out what they’re doing, and if they’re in fact in the right industry.

This review may be a little biased since the only crepes I’ve had were when I was in Paris, but for a café supposedly specializing in crepes, it was an epic fail. I’ve been craving a nutella/banana crêpe for a while so after having dinner w/my sister in law, I decided to go try this place out. I saw they they had exactly what I was craving for(the bonita) so I happily ordered and started waiting in anticipation. And out comes the crêpe… uh. what the fudge. that’s not a crêpe. it looks like a soggy omelet that got sick, soiled on itself while throwing up whip cream. It was soggy, limp and looked miserable. i felt bad for it just sitting there asking me to put it out of its misery. So. I ate it. attempted to at least. It basically tasted exactly how it looked. Service was also very slow but in his defense, he was the only server for the whole restaurant. So my search for a yum-worthy crêpe in San Antonio continues…

Cool Café gets points for being open late, having a very veggie-friendly menu, a good wine list, an interesting décor, and being a complete departure from typical San Antonio cuisine. They lose points for service, climate control, and execution of some of their food and beverage. We went to Cool Café at around 9 on a Sunday evening. They are open until 11 which is great, especially for a Sunday. We were greeted by a perky young woman who told us we could sit anywhere in the dining room. We sat in the front corner. They had a nice color scheme and little tapestries up on the walls. A young man took our drink order. We didn’t see him for a few minutes and the woman who sat us came to ask us if we has been helped yet. We told her that the guy took our drink order, but that was it. She asked if we had received our drinks, apparently not noting the lack of glassware on our table. She then emerged with our glass of Relax Riesling(yum) and our Mint Iced Tea. They use the word tea loosely at Cool Café, and I’m not referring to loose tea either. The Mint Tea tastes more like a flat, lime-less virgin Mojito. We then ordered a regular Iced Tea after the disappointing mint sprig in a glass drink. The Iced Tea was very weak and watery. At least they couldn’t mess up the Relax Riesling. The waiter came back some time later and took out dinner order. I asked to have a house salad along with my pasta since I noticed that other entrees came with salad. He seemed perplexed by this request, but said that he could«make up» some kind of house salad. In addition to the pasta and salad, we ordered some stuffed grape leaves and tabbouleh with pita. The tabbouleh was extremely dry, except in spots that had been doused with lemon. The grape leaves were served warm, which is different than how they are served at Greek restaurants in Jersey. They were on the oily side. The side salad was a bowl of romaine lettuce with one cherry tomato and one black olive and little balsamic vinegar sprinkle on it. The pasta was actually tasty. The tomato sauce itself was out of a tin can, but it was nicely seasoned and the fresh basil, artichokes, and capers helped make the dish desirable. We did not opt for dessert and had a little trouble paying our bill as we wanted to keep our itemized receipt for business purposes. The waiter had thrown out the itemized receipt and could not bring it up on the computer, so he dug it out of the trash.

This food is alright. The meals really are hit or miss, and there are significantly more misses than hits. The Jaguar crêpe is one of the few acceptable food items. The others I tried were anywhere from inedible to only slightly nauseating. The falafel is so dry, you have to have water on hand to avoid choking. Depending on the day, expect an insanely long wait for service. The place is perennially understaffed. Moreover, the owner may be suffering from psychopathy. More appropriately, I may be suffering from his psychopathy. He is unbelievably rude both to the workers and clients. Avoid at all costs.

Banana nutella crêpe! Otherwise, light fare with a twist. The ‘relaxed’ service and the food choices/flavor combos make it feel kinda Euro.

I had to fight the cockroaches off while trying to dine. I pointed out the problem, but the staff couldn’t care less. I’ll never go there again. I do visit the restaurant next door, and I’ve never seen roaches there.

I’m a big fan of hookah bars so I wanted to try this place out. I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the hookah. When I went there I had to pull someone aside to get attention to the coals, but in their defense it was a pretty busy evening. The hookahs were a bit pricey but the food wasn’t. I ordered a crêpe and it was really tasty. There’s nothing too special about the inside, but the employees are pretty nice and helpful. I really like the fact that it’s open late.

Went here this past weekend with a friend. I ordered a mocha and a Jamaican(?) crêpe while my friend ordered a hot cocoa and a Bonita. Yeah… so they couldn’t get my mocha because the machine was broken… and then the waiter completely forgot that I had even ordered a crêpe of my own! He brought us two forks and the Bonita crêpe… what a let down. I probably would’ve let it slide if it was busy but it wasn’t! And then it was really warm inside. I wasn’t diggin it at all!
