WORSTBBQINTEXAS! THEOWNERSTEVEISRUDE, OBNOXIOUS, ANDHATEFUL! My church group visited this horrible, gross, inedible rubbish bin of a restaurant today. To call the food BBQ is disrespectful to every Texan! The restaurant is dirty with filthy tables, used napkins and crap on the floor, and need of an overhaul. The Roaring Twenties club used to sit close by here for those old timers who remember it however it mysteriously burned to the ground a few years ago… very suspicious indeed. Some sort of hillbilly animal zoo with mistreated critters now resides nearby. A friend of mine who works for the City said they were looking into the permitting of the squalid animal sanctuary… The food here is disgusting. The BBQ is like roadkill, the brisket is shoe leather tough, the beans rancid, the fried food is probably the safest bet because anything else here would probably make you vomit. The pulled pork tastes like SPAM, the ribs are pitiful and covered with gristle, the potato salad looked like a baby diaper, the mac and cheese was days old, and the sausage was any mystery meat they could find and put in a tube sock. The service is like being abused by a New York cabbie. The servers and wait staff must have been high on drugs or drunk. We waited a million years for water and the silverware was filthy. Our church group, which is a bunch of nice Baptists, were appalled at the service, attitude of the waiters, and the rudeness of the manager Steve. Gertrude complained about the service and bad food to a waitress who brought over the manager/owner/janitor Steve Honigblum. The man insulted our entire table telling us we didn’t know«real» BBQ. He offended the 12 or more southern ladies in our group who promised never again to eat at this horrible place. If Steve Honigblum thinks he can treat patrons like punching bags, he has another thing coming. The city will be receiving health citation reports about this place soon. I have never been so disgusted in my life. And the bathrooms… they were as dirty as a pig pen. NEVERAGAIN!

Stopped in for lunch. The place was large, spacious and the atmosphere is what you would expect from a BBQ restaurant. I had the pulled pork poboy and a side of cream corn. Both were excellent. The seasoning on the pulled pork left it with plenty of natural flavor. The cream corn was creamy, but not so creamy you could no longer tell it began as corn. Good job guys!

Wonderful bbq, awesome service, and great atmosphere! Not sure about some of these reviews saying it is comparable to Bill Miller’s because Blanco BBQ(by hundreds of miles) beats that sort of fast food chain. I highly recommend, the pulled pork, brisket, mac and cheese, green beans, and pecan pie! Plus, I could drink their bbq sauce with a straw. If you are looking for fresh and tasty bbq, then you should definitely check out Blanco BBQ!

Best BBQ hands down!!! I met one of the owners a couple months ago when I moved to SA and she told me about their restaurant and told me to go try it… The rest is history. Everyone that comes to visit us from out of town gets to go have some amazing BBQ here!

I visited Blanco BBQ today with my girlfriend and was waited on by a young blonde woman who was nice at first, but asked a lot of personal questions. Mostly like when my birthday is, what my name is, where I work, where my girlfriend works, etc. needless to say, my girlfriend and I spent more time answering her many questions than we did with each other. She went on to tell me how she had a twin brother and how she had an unstable home and more things I wasnt expecting to hear from someone who is just supposed to refill our drinks and leave us alone. The final straw was when the girl came back a third time and asked if my girlfriend and I were sisters, and when I told her(while its none of her business) that we were a couple, she seemed VISIBLY upset and immediately asked«Do you two go to church?» We replied no, and she went on a pretty long winded rant about spreading God’s word and that we should seriously consider going back to church. I was pretty shocked and did not expect my bbq craving to turn into a «life lesson» from my server. Pretty much ruined the entire meal. Also, the mac and cheese was really disappointing, and I dont recommend it, especially if you really love that stuff. Will probably go to Smokeshack or Two Bros BBQ from now on.

Good BBQ and nice atmosphere. There is a big playground in the back for the kids. My burger was very undercooked but when I complained they fixed it right up. The live guitarist in the corner was a nice touch.

It had a good atmosphere, open space and clean. Only thing I would try to improve on is the preparation of the food. If they took a little bit more time trimming more fat off of the meat this place would be awesome for BBQ. I felt like I was pulling a lot of fat off the meat and out of my mouth, wasn’t able to fully enjoy.

No Thanks. First impressions are always something to be sure a business should strive for. Our first and last time visit was horrible. After stating that it was first time there, the cashier sighed and began to ask us questions with an annoyed tone. SORRYTHATYOUAREUNHAPPYWITHYOURJOB. Maybe she should be moved to the dish washing room. The manager on site was scolding an employee, who was also cursing back at him, cursing pretty loud and then laughed when he knew there was an audience. That was enough to run us off. The food was eh. Brisket dry and no flavor. Maybe if the manager spent a lil more time checking the line instead of public disagreements with staff the food may be better. Best of luck.

Do not get the chicken fried steak-all chicken fried and no steak. More like a meat wafer. Stick with the BBQ

Sweet tea y listo!

Let me preface by saying that I am a bbq snob. Blanco BBQ is better than a lot of places in San Antonio, and while I have some serious reservations, it’s actually not all that bad. Ribs, pulled pork, and brisket are all fine. Nothing to write home about, but they serve quality meat at a reasonable price. Sometimes the brisket will be too fatty and the pork will be too greasy, but fortunately this tends to be a rare occurrence. Green beans are 10/10, Mac and cheese is pretty solid. The cobbler and the pie are fine, definitely can do better at Bill Millers though. On that note, Bill Millers is probably better in every area except the atmosphere. Blanco BBQ has a huge dining space, an outdoor play ground for kids, and some domestic beers for purchase. Catering seems popular, though I have never picked up food here. They used to make their own rolls(which were awesome) but since they stopped I’ve lost interest unless someone else suggests this place. Jessica, a busser, is a little overly friendly and really can disrupt your meal. She was talking to my cousin’s baby, and even tried to take off her socks. Very strange behavior, she also closed my purse while I went to get a refill which made me feel very uncomfortable.

First time trying this place after driving by it for a year. I ordered the ribs, cream corn and green beans. The ribs while cooked well, tender and fall off the bone tender, were very salty. The green beans were canned, with a littler doctoring of some tomato and I think onion. Not very good and the cream corn was decent. Not the best BBQ place, but not the worst I guess.

Just average, frankly. I visited on a Sunday afternoon, between lunch and dinner, and the place wasn’t crowded. First, the food. Nothing special. The sides are below average. You can get better cole claw, potato salad and creamed corn at HEB. The fried okra, bland. We purchased the full meat platter, and were unimpressed. The ham is tasteless. The pulled pork dripping in grease.(I am from The South, where such meat is amazing! No pools of grease in the bottom of the bowl in my old hangouts.) The brisket is fine, as are the ribs. But nothing nearly as good as Rudy’s. They had«live music» that day, and the single singer had the volume turned up so loud, you couldn’t talk. 80% of the people in the place were glued to their cell phones. I don’t like the fact, that the register to the side of the main counter(overflow) has a tip jar. Who is receiving that money? I tipped the table«server»(he was great, although you go to the counter to get your order — this guy cleaned tables), but I’m not tipping a person who merely takes my order. And what’s with the peacock and turtle in metal cages plopped on the hot parking lot, with hay thrown around? That is very sad, and disturbing.

In a building that’s housed a number of failed restaurants, this business is a success! I stopped in for a lunch business meeting today and I’m glad I did. We placed our order at 11am. I had the brisket(lean), fried okra, onion rings, bread and tea. Walking in, the place has the look. When it has the look then you are ready for the real deal and they are the real deal. I definitely would bring my sweetie on a night out or would have another business meeting here in a heartbeat. Big family get together? You bet! Loved the seasoned fried okra, nice crust on the onion rings and more than satisfied with the taste of the brisket. I bathed the brisket in their bbq sauce sitting in bottles on every table in the restaurant. I like their condiment bar which has pickles, onions, limes, lemons and more at the ready. It’s whatever I want. Thirsty? Free refills. By the time my meeting was coming to an end, I noticed their large parking lot filling up. Police officers, government employees, business owners and people looking for good food are who I saw there. It’s a cut above!

The food and the place were great! The service was horrible! I took a piece of chicken that was still BLOODY for them to finish cooking it and the idiot told me that’s how they all come out and I wanted them to cool it correctly it would take an hour! Didn’t even try to offer a substitute or anything he just didn’t care. This was today 10⁄4 at lunch time. I run my own business and if I had a moron like that working I would cut him loose ASAP!

This was bad. The brisket and ribs had no flavor what so ever. The marbled brisket was moist and tender, with no flavor. Tasted like it was cooked in an oven. Same thing goes for the ribs. The ham tasted good, but was dry. I just didn’t like the flavor of the sausage. As far as the sides and desserts go, I liked the mac and cheese, potato salad, and strawberry shortcake. I can’t say the same for the green beans or bbq sauce.

Took my son-in-law for his birthday. The place itself is perfect, everything else was just awful. The door cashier was sweet, but the second cashier was dull and it felt like she hated her job. The food was too sweet, the green beans were drowned in gritty pepper and disintegrating onions with no flavor. The ¼ chicken breast was very bland and dry. The pulled pork tasted burned and sickly sweet. The table sauce was runny with a sharp twang that is reminiscent of raw vinegar. I don’t get why anyone brags about it. The mac N cheese was good, the tea wasn’t overly sweet like most places, but the taste was ordinary. Their dill pickles are sweeter than not. I don’t personally like when they say dill and its sweet, but that’s just me. The worst part was our waitress. I don’t know if she’s naturally weird or if she was on drugs, but she was flirting with my daughter and my boyfriend at the same time. She kept creeping around and repeating strange things to us. She would appear out of nowhere and her face would be right there in yours staring. I almost had a damn heart attack! No one knew what the heck she was saying. It also feels so rushed. The table cleaners kept walking around us like vultures and asking if we were finished, which I felt was really rude because that left one person eating alone. We felt obligated to hurry up and get out of there. So anxious the entire stay! Three of us had stomach issues all night into the next day. I think its all that sugar in the BBQ sauce. Don’t know, but when 5 people agree that the food is bad, we don’t go back. I was so excited to go there because I saw all the great reviews. What a let down. Don’t forget to stare at the prisoners behind the fence. I felt so bad for them. They looked so sad, how depressing to see that.

We come here often. Great atmosphere. EXTREMELY kid friendly –they have a play ground(beware the swings I’ve seen kids smash into each other once or twice. I can vouch for just about everything accept for the brisket and burger. When I’m trying to watch my calories my «go to» is turkey and roasted corn on the cob. When I don’t give a damn: fried catfish with creamed corn and mashed potatoes– and pray someone ordered some beef sausage for me to sample. BBQ chicken, chicken fried steak, pork ribs, sausage, chicken strips, all EXCELLENT. Have also sampled the chocolate cake, strawberry short cake in a jar, and brownie. I can’t wait to try the cheese cake and brownie.

Great service, nice atmosphere and tasty meaty food! Also reasonably price! Mash potatoes were buttery to perfection. Brisket and sausage were smoked with a great flavor. I could not stop attacking my bf’s ribs! The meat qualify was superb! I would give this place a try if you’re in the mood for good ol’ bbq or even chicken strips!

Yes yes yes yes. This is exactly what I want a Texas barbecue place to be. It looks and feels like a huge indoor/outdoor dance hall, for starters. Next, to order you jump in the line and order and pay right up front. This is how it should work with barbecue. This is a great place for bottled-beer lovers, as they have lots of varieties waiting to be plucked from those old-fashioned, iced, open coolers. They have some fun old-fashioned soda, too, but no diet varieties, sadly. Nice variety to the menu, with the welcome option of any kind of meat you want stuffed into a GIGANTIC baked potato. This is a good thing. Dessert was Strawberry Shortcake in Jar, which was fun and delicious. My only complaint: NOHOTLINKS??? However, the next time I’m in San Antonio visiting family, I will demand to return to this place. If I lived in SA, it would be a place I’d take all out-of-towners to.
