Bare Escentuals

I grew up with a hippie mother with perfect skin who’s idea of going all out in the make-​up department was putting on some brown mascara. Needless to say, I didn’t spend a lot of time in front of the mirror figuring out how to put on make-​up without looking like a clown as a little girl. Most days I rock a little mascara and some chap stick. In an effort to branch out and spice up my look a bit, I ventured out to the Bare Escentuals store in North Star Mall. They are FABULOUS! Of course every girl in there looks like she’s been wearing make-​up since birth, but still… they’re all super friendly and super patient. It’s not every day they have a grown woman walk in and say, «Can you teach me how to put on make-​up?» They taught me how to properly apply their product… there’s a kazillion and one ways to do it… they showed me ALL of them! They also helped me pick the most flattering colors for my eyes and skin tone. By the time I left they had done my make up for a night out, sold me everything I need to re-​create the look, and convinced me that I am indeed capable of doing it myself. SUCCESS!

I was so happy to see that North Star Mall has a Base Escentuals store when I moved here to San Antonio. Surprisingly, the Houston Galleria does not. It may now, but not a couple years ago when I called Houston my home.
I try to buy pretty much everything I wear from Bare Escentuals. The mineral make up is the only foundation I’ve worn for years now. If you’re trying to avoid the dreaded «orange face line» that I see quite a few ladies walking around with, this is the place to go. The make up is all natural and does nothing but good things for you and makes you look flawless.
The ladies in this store are helpful and will answer any questions you may have. The store is located in the corner and is tastefully decorated in soft hues that will make you happy when you walk in. This store of course isn’t HUGE like the San Francisco (home) store, but it reminds me a lot of it. The foundation, lip gloss & loose eyeliner are great. They brushes are far beyond the quality of other brands I’ve tried and don’t irritate sensitive skin, as that is always a worry of mine.
Prices are moderate and comparable to Benefit or Clinique. Stop by the Bare Escentuals/​Minerals store, you won’t regret it. I’m a firm believer that even if you don’t wear any of their line when you walk in this store, you’ll be a believer carrying one of their bags walking out!
