Whoa. This is a bar in a hotel? This is not supposed to be this good. It was though. Really good. We came about 8pm on Sunday. The place was busy but I finally got a server to come over. We ordered a lot of stuff but the prices are really reasonable. Hamburger. Whoa. This was so good. They asked how to cook it which was awesome. I got it medium. Perfectly cooked. Super juicy. Excellent beef flavor. The cheese had even been melted into the meat. Nice condiments. The accompanying potato wedges were wonderfully seasoned. Nachos. Awesome. Big portion. Nice chips. Lots of good toppings and some chili to boot. Cuban cheese sandwich. Miss. Not that great but then everything can’t be perfect. Just not for us. Buffalo deep fried cauliflower. Awesome. Tasted just like buffalo chicken wings but much lighter. Service for a nearly full bar was awesome. The food was delivered promptly and piping hot. Service 5⁄5. For bar Food 5⁄5.

Came just for a quick bite: service was excellent! I had the buffalo cauliflower and it was a generous portion, very delicious.

Is it a club… or a hotel bar? We were staying at the Grand Hyatt and decided to stop into this bar for after dinner cocktails. It was crowded, flooded with people at the bar and in the lounge area. The overall look and feel is very contemporary, kind of «clubby» for a hotel bar. It definitely has a «rojo» or red lighting scheme, but there are TV’s and other lighting contributing to the ambiance so that it does not feel too much like a nightclub. We were lucky enough to snag a table shaped like an «X» in front of the bar — a unique concept that is great for large groups, but a bit awkward for a group of five people. It was very loud in the bar, and we found ourselves struggling to carry on a conversation. The server was polite, but brief, taking our orders a few minutes after we were seated, and returning with the drinks about ten minutes later. The old fashion was great, but I was disappointed in their wine list. It was limited for ordering by the glass, and the markup was pretty heavy. I would recommend trying a cocktail if you visit. Overall it was fine for a quick drink, but the layout made it feel very crowded and it was too noisy for my taste. The food people ordered around us looked good, mostly things like sliders and fries, great for late night. Cheers!

I was staying in the hotel and really enjoyed this bar. The atmosphere is fabulous. Makes you feel very classy. I came during baseball playoff season/football season, and they had a little sign at each of the TV’s telling you when they would be showing what games. This was very helpful! They had some great drink specials, and our bartender was really helpful. All in all this was a great place to watch a game!

It took 30 minutes to get a margarita, then 15 minutes later the shot I specifically ordered unchilled came chilled… the lime with it looks like it was cut months ago. It’s almost an hour now and we still don’t have our nachos. As I’m writing this, the waitress is telling me that they’re out of nachos… we ordered them an hour ago, it takes that long to tell us? Really?!? Grand Hyatt you should be ashamed. I’m ok with paying premium prices, but not for service like this. Epic fail.

I’m not sure how some people get hired. The restaurant industry is a service industry and above all you need to be served regardless of the quality of food and drink. The service was terrible at Bar Rojo and that’s disappointing for the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio.

This place sucks. The brisket nachos sounded good, based on the description: Cheddar, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream, Guacamole, Choice of Brisket or Achiote Chicken. I guess I forgot to ask for them to completely melt the cheese, because hardly any of the cheese on my nachos was melted. Literally a massive pile of chips with half-melted cheese, lukewarm brisket, pico and sour cream on top. How does a restaurant at a hotel in downtown San Antonio screw up the easiest Mexican dish to make? My meal was not«sensational» or «freshly prepared» as their website suggests. Clearly, they just nuked this pile of chips to create something vile. A vile pile and an iced tea(it also sucked) for $ 18. Cool. Luckily, I walked to an actual food establishment on the Riverwalk afterwards and had a meal that erased the memory(and taste) of this pile.

Don’t waste your money on the food(I had pizza and chips/guac and they all sucked), but the drinks are pretty tasty. Happy hour is for an extended time and they have some great deals, but they are watered down versions FORSURE, so I don’t know how worth it it really is. I normally get quite tipsy on two mixed drinks, but I had FIVE habanero margaritas during happy hour without even the slightest buzz. At $ 5 each, they should’ve done something for me… With that said, the habanero infusion was DELICIOUS and I highly recommend it. Service is pretty attentive and the sofas and chairs are comfy!

I loved this little hotel bar/lounge! Super convenient and really reasonably priced for what it is. A friend and I grabbed a glass of wine while between conference sessions. The X shaped tables are awesome and make conversing really comfortable. It was busy with March Madness fans and the TVs were going with games but it didn’t feel like a sports bar. Great value for my money and I’d go back in a heartbeat.

Should have believed the reviews, terrible service and terrible drinks. A Lemondrop with bottled lemon juice?! I think not. I did like the«x» shaped tables

The servers were more likely to be found at the bar chatting vs actually going up to the patrons. But once I snagged one she was fantastic, professional and atI think I may have woken up a sleeping bartender… I get it, I don’t want or need to be entertained not at all. If I could make the drink myself and not be at a hotel«bar» I would.

Henry at the sushi bar is AWESOME. Crafts great food & will take care of you! 5 stars Bar is well designed & decorated, but horribly loud, especially during sports. 3.5 stars Wait staff is terrible. They ignore folks waiting at tables, take forever to fill orders & even slow in getting you the bill. Zero stars

Bar Rojo serves as the only evening dinning option at the Grand Hyatt, so since I was staying at the Hyatt I figured I’d have dinner there. Big mistake. The service is bad. The drinks are very pricy. I’d like to review the food but after waiting for over and hour I gave up cancelled my order and went to Whataburger. To be fair it was a busy Saturday night… there were three other tables with people so maybe they were overwhelmed. Do yourself a favor, skip Bar Rojo

cheesy hotel bar with bad service and expensive drinks. They also close earlier than normal bars. Take your business to another bar, I’m sure there are plenty of better places to get a drink close by on the river walk!

Bar Rojo inside of the tallest Hilton in San Antonio, you are something else. I’m almost certain this is the only place in downtown San Antonio that offers a smoking section outside WITH shade and two flat screen TV’s to watch whilst being there WITH ample seating on very romantic furniture. The romantic furniture was all around the interior as well. One of my favorite things about bars is the furniture. I’m not sure how I would feel about this place at night, but during the day it was perfect for my little group. We had my girl and we wanted to watch some football. Since Bar Rojo is practically in the hotel lobby, my girl being there was not a problem. The food took awhile to come out and there was a fly in my beverage. The beverage was replaced, which also took a while. Our waitress was nice and everything, but the people creating the products for her to bring were totally slacking! Over all, I would hit it up again, but it’s a little too pricey for it to be on my frequent visit list.

When you pay top dollar for drinks you expect top dollar service, right? Well, if you make your way to Bar Rojo don’t bother with expectations(with regard to wait staff). What an introduction, right? Well, it’s really not that bad, read on. The bar overall is beautiful and inviting. Plus, the drinks are made well. Also, we all know when you are with good company it’s easy to get lost in conversation, but at Bar Rojo the furniture and décor tend to pull your attention from time to time to admire your surroundings. I believe Bar Rojo could be a «favorite» spot for some patrons but, alas, if the service(waitresses) continue on the road they are on then this bar will never reach such heights. Take a little advice and save yourself some frustration and annoyance level by ordering directly at the bar and then heading straight to one of the hip seating areas or nooks. Follow this advice and you may actually have a 4-star experience, otherwise you might fall into my 2/3-star rating review above. There’s potential for this place, but I suppose time(and service) will tell.

I was here for a convention and was staying at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio, so I happily spent my nights here. We were all especially digging the giant red chandelier. Is that a Chihuly? Sure looks like one! Anyways, in addition to the cozy and classy look, their drinks are mixed well and are priced the same as any drink in a San Francisco bar(my home base). I did notice that the service was on and off. Mostly off… Some nights, we were approached and helped immediately and constantly. But sometimes it was borderline harassment, with every single waitress stopping by to see if we needed more booze. every 5 minutes. And then there were the long stretches of me, sitting there by myself, clearly ready to order… I ended up getting a bartender’s attention and he sent one of the girls over. I also had to wait quite a while for a waitress to come back after bringing me the check. I didn’t want to add it on to my room(because the room was under my friend’s name), but she took so long and I was so tired that I just gave up. Still, I thought the sushi was pretty good. Not traditional, but with a San Antonio spin. I would stay away from the nigiri because they were overpriced, but the rolls were unique and priced just like any other sushi place I’ve been to.

This bar is located in the Grand Hyatt San Antonio. It’s convenient, has nice décor, and does the trick if you want to grab a few drinks while passing some time. The drinks are moderately priced, although probably a little more expensive compared to other bars in the area(although I’m use to paying this or more). Beers on draft are about $ 5 and cocktails will run anywhere from $ 7-$ 13. I tried the Pom Violet first($ 9)-absolut citron, cointreau, and pomegranate juice. Eh. I thought this drink was okay. Kind of reminded me of cough syrup though, and definitely didn’t take like it had any pomegranate in it all. For my next drink(since the Pom Violet wasn’t doing it for me), I had the raspberry mojitio($ 12)-bacardi raspberry, raspberries, mint leaves, lime, and simple syrup. Much better! Wasn’t too minty or sweet, it was just right. Delicious! If I was staying at the Grand Hyatt and wanted to grab a few drinks, I’d probably come here again. But if I had the option to go elsewhere, I’d definitely do that. BTW they serve sushi here, and at times the room smelt kind of fishy.
