Bar Louie was great after my first visit! We ordered a lot of different drinks, a lot of beer and a lot of food. We went on a day where it was half price martinis and half price draught beer all night. some appetizers were even half off. Our waitress was great! I think her name was Megan, not too sure but she was on top of things! Will be back soon.

Me and my fiancé went there on our first date. We go back every anniversary and on some date nights. It is a very relaxing and chill atmosphere and thats what we love about it. The employees are friendly, the food is good and drinks are the best! The drinks have never disappointed me and I love that they have such a great variety of alcohol selection on hand.

I may still return for a drink while my wife shops, but our last dining experience here was epically bad. It was a Friday night, the restaurant was busy, but not overly full. We placed our food and drink orders and got left to wait… and wait… and wait… then our drinks came… then we were back to waiting… and waiting… and waiting some more. In the end, our food came ~75min after we ordered it. My wife’s wings looked great, but her fries were cold, my buddy’s burger was cold, but his fries were scorching hot, my jambalaya appeared to have sat in the window since the previous day, because the the plate was lava hot, and there was a noticeable congealed layer on the top. I’m not know for being picky or squeamish, but I couldn’t touch it. The manager comped the me

The Pineapple Express sangria is way too sweet. I will not be ordering that again. The wings are better than I expected. I have been here on a Sunday and Monday night and there are a decent amount of people. I like the music they play and the severs are very attentive. I need to come during the summer to enjoy the patio.

Sad experience on Veteran’s Day… We chose to come to Bar Louie because I’ve been to other locations before, and always enjoyed it. We ordered spinach artichoke dip for an appetizer. You can tell they just stir spinach into Alfredo sauce and throw in some big chunks of artichoke. Not great, but not terrible. For our meal we both got sliders. My boyfriend got the blackened Salmon sliders. He said they were ok, but that the sliders and the fires they were served with were all very salty. I got the burger sliders. They were described as having jalapeño, cheddar cheese, may and bacon. I ordered them with the tots. When my food came out i tried the tater tots right away. They were really salty, with these greasy crumbs all over and around them. Kind of looked like the crispies from over-fried breading at the bottom of the fryers. They were all over and under the tots. Pretty unappetizing. I then looked at the burgers, with the intention of removing some of the jalapenos so that it wasn’t too hot. Unfortunately the jalapenos AND the bacon were both mixed into the burger meat. I realized when I started to eat them that the bacon was pretty much raw. I honestly don’t think it was cooked at all. Cross-contamination was enough to make me stop eating. When our waiter came by I told him about the issues I had, and he apologized and took my plate away for me. He was the only good thing about our experience there. Very polite and made sure we had filled drinks. When he brought our bill, he had taken off my sliders since they had raw pork in them. We also got our discounts for Veteran’s Day, so we only had to pay around $ 4. Still tipped our waiter well though, because he was pretty great. Wish we could have had a better meal for Veteran’s Day.

My friend and I made it into this place unintentionally. It happened to be the closest bar to us, and I’m glad it was. We made it in for their 9 pm-11 pm happy hour which included half price martinis and appetizers. The drinks and food were delicious and the service was superb. Our server was very attentive which is something I don’t come across often in a bar. We sat outside, but there were plenty of flatscreen TVs all around as well as a house DJ. Even with everything going on it was still a fancy place. Definitely a bit pricey, so I’d suggest trying it out during happy hour.

Finally had a chance to actually eat here. It took about 10 minutes for me to lose patience and find a waiter. Why do they even have a «Please seat yourself» sign if no one pays attention(or at least our server)? I found a manager and a replacement waiter came by. He was definitely on the ball. Good was 7⁄10. Nothing special, but better than bar food would be. I’d eat here again. My Fried Louie was juicy and filling. The meat needs more flavor, but everything else is there. Had a couple drinks and that was good as well, the Drunk Sailor is a must. Tart, sweet and ya only need two!

I have been to Bar Louie on several occasions and experienced professional service. The issue of last night on the other hand, was a dead zone of service. If you find yourself at the bar, expect excellent service and very professionally trained bartenders. If you are sitting around the bar downstairs or outside you will be tended quickly and your drinks will get to you within 5−10mins. So no marks downstairs, but the issue is upstairs. I had placed my order for a Louie Sangria and waited 35mins for my drink. I observed the establishment from above and found multiple bartenders working swiftly and even calm, though upstairs it seemed to be a frantic hurdle for only 8 people total. The waitresses seemed calm and I noticed them on the monitor for a good 10 mins tapping away, and I think that’s what may have side tracked them from the service upstairs. I do not feel that Bar Louie is a puddle of disappointment but yesterday definitely put a hole in my experience. When the drinks arrived I was very pleased with the craftsmanship of the bartenders and once again I left very satisfied by the drink. I will definitely return to seek an update on the upstairs situation.

So far so good. Nice chill spot. Me and my fiancé are sitting outside on the patio on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. The drink menu is full of signature drinks and tasty appetizers. The prices are in line for this area. La Cantera is a great drama and riff raff free place. You want to come out and have a good time with no worries and good music this is the place to be.

Solid happy hour — you get a TON of boneless wings for the half-price deal and the beer is a good deal as well. Go on a Thursday when it’s happy hour all day. One negative — the fleet of staff that crowd the door when you get there. It’s a nice concept in theory, but it is super awkward having a crowd overwhelm you on your first step in the place… they didn’t used to do it, so I’m not sure what prompted the change.

Great bar staff and good food! You’d expect your typical bar food but you’d be pleasantly suprised. I love their hummus. Yes, I know. hummus of all things! They’re burgers are also delicious but make sure you get them with a side of their delicious tater tots. Yum! The bartenders are awesome here. My favorite is Wes. He’s friendly, attentive, and quick! He introduced us to the Breakfast Shot and it’s THEBEST! Great place to kick back, get a drink, watch the game and mingle.

My husband and I decided to stop by for lunch and I was NOT impressed. The atmosphere was ok and the staff was friendly. We were there on a Saturday and got a «pitcher» of Sangria for $ 18. It was like like only 4 glasses. It was a very small pitcher. Anyway, we both ordered burgers and it was jus horrible. There’s no seasoning and just tasted like plain ground beef on bread. Needless to say. good place to drink, but go elsewhere for good.

We went here during«Happy Hour». The décor is nice. I think the atmosphere is more of a college oriented one(there is nothing wrong with that, however I would not go there for drinks again). We sat at the bar and the bartender was very prompt to address us, which was nice. We ordered a margarita and a martini. The drinks were just«ok»; not great, not terrible. The biggest thing that stood out about the drinks is that the margarita was served with a really old, gross looking lime. Also, there was a loud, drunk college girl sitting down the bar from us, so all in all, the atmosphere sucked. We finished our weak drinks and then went to Yardhouse. Would not visit again.

Came for drinks at 6:56 and the waitress held a round for us so we could get two rounds at happy hour price! Love to see people going the extra mile for customers! We chose to sit outside because it was overcast and breezy — highly recommend it. I had the Watermelon Martini and lemon drop ANDBOYWERETHEYREFRESHING — my boyfriend had the Oktoberfest brew and liked it. I would give 5 but didn’t have their food. Overall great time first experience!

This review is for food only. Came here on a Saturday around 2 pm and we were pretty much the only people there. I ordered the chopped salad and my husband ordered the fried Louie fried burger. I had told the waitress that I didn’t want blue cheese and to go light on the dressing but when my salad came out, I saw big chunks of blue cheese and it looked like someone literally poured half a bottle of dressing in it. It was basically inedible but I didn’t say anything because it would probably take another 30 minutes for the food to come out. My husband said his burger was ok, nothing really special. After we were done, we sat around for another 15 minutes and no one came to check on us. My husband had to hunt one of the waitresses down just to pay. To sum it up, bad food, slow service, not worth the time/money.

I went to this bar at least 3 times while visiting home on my «Thanksgiving vacation». This was one of the go to spots to meet up with friends while in town. Place has a very chill atmosphere. They have a decent selection of draft beers and good cocktail/martini menu. Sorry to all the wine lovers, but their wine selection leaves much to be desired. One thing that makes this place stand out is they have the best happy hour specials in La Cantera. When I mean best I mean they have the best variety and the best prices. The have happy hour from 4−7pm Monday– Friday and reverse happy hour from 9−11pm Sunday-Thursday. That includes $ 3 draft beers, $ 4 wines, $ 5 martinis and half price appetizers and flatbreads. They also have $ 5 Burgers with tots or fries on Tuesdays from 5pm to close. As for martinis I’ve tried: S’mores, Tickled Pink, Pom Peche, and the Strawberry Peach Bellini. My finace tried: Effen Good and the Dirty. All the martinis were delicious and made strong! My favorite was the S’mores, but I’m partial to chocolate. The only food I tried here is the Spinach and Artichoke dip and it was decent. Not bad, but not the best I’ve had either. I’ve seen other food ordered here and everything looks pretty good for«bar food». As for service, we’ve had pretty good service every time we went, so no problems there. Once I visit San Antonio again we will definitely be coming back here! Forget Kona or Yardhouse, this is the new hot spot in La Cantera!
