I had the ranch hand plate with brisket and chicken. The brisket was tender and seasoned perfectly. The chicken was moist, which is hard to find, most restaurants over cook it. The cream corn was awesome. It was even better than the other BBQ place known for their cream corn. We’ll definitely be back!

Been here twice because it is near JP1. Also it is great BBQ. Both times I have had a rib and brisket plate. The ribs have great flavor and were very moist but I could have used them more fally aparty — still very good though. The beef was spot on. The sides and sauce are also both strong entries. This is overall a great BBQ place and value. I don’t think they sell beer since I was there for lunch I didn’t check. If you have a ticket or eviction something at JP1 a visit here after will help with the loss.

I will never understand why people like this place and how they are still in business. HORRIBLE service every time I go. Food is dry, bland and greasy. Tiny portions and so expensive. Much better deal and service at Snoga’s BBQ on Goliad Rd. They short changed my last visit. I asked for the rest of my change and she still shorted me a dollar. If you need to steal a dollar that bad you can have it.

I dined at B and B Smokehouse on Pleasanton Rd., first time. I ordered a three meat plate consisting of BBQ ribs, sausage and brisket. The brisket was very tough, I had to take it back. The potato salad did not contain any mustard, which I am use to eating mustard potato salad. The pinto beans was just beans boiled, no seasoning but the star of the meal was the BBQ sauce. The sauce was very good and tasty, you could taste the molasses in the sauce. I know many customers on the Southside dine at B and B Smokehouse and have been dining there for many years, but $ 18 for a BBQ plate with a large drink was pricey and the brisket was terrible. I love good BBQ, but B and B Smokehouse, is not the place for me.

This place caught my eye from reading the reviews of my fellow Unilocalers after I woke up with a craving for some good olé south Texas comfort food… BBQ! First up, pork ribs… dry…SO disappointed. But, dipped in their BBQ sauce made them better. Next, the«deckled» brisket… pretty much blah until you poor some of their BBQ sauce over each bite! And finally, the turkey… moist and nicely flavored and wow, add some of that BBQ sauce and all you can say is ahhhhhh. :) So, I’ll be back… to order a quart of their BBQ sauce! But seriously, I’ll be back cuz there’s too many other offerings I want to try!

Went this past week and it was pretty good. I got the brisket, half lean and half deckled. It was good, didn’t blow me away but it was tender.

DONOTGOTOTHEDRIVETHRU. I ordered the 2 meat plate at the drive thru, including pork ribs and brisket. Before leaving I checked my order. I was expecting a regular size of ribs but instead received tiny ribs so I passed back my order to the girl at the register then she spoke to the cook then the cook came back with the styrofoam container with a few more ribs. When I got home and started to eat I discovered my brisket was nothing but the hard pieces. I do not understand why folks think it’s funny to do this to their customers that have been coming here for the past 12+ years. Sorry but I’m never coming back to this place on the southside. I called them a day later to ask for a refund and the manager Charlie asked why I took a day to call them. He did not apologize or offer any refund. Low class, Charlie. Bad service + bad management = bad food. Don’t have high expectations when you order BBQ from B & B Smokehouse.

This is one of my favorite, totally under rate bbq spots in town. I’ve eaten at some of the best bbq places in the state and this place can hold its own. I love the bbq chicken, and I’m not a huge bow chicken fan. The brisket is always tender and fresh off the pit, he turkey is good but can be a bit salty for my taste. Sides are one of a kind, definitely a must stop for all the bbq coniseurs out there.

B&B is a Southside San Antonio staple, and one of the best barbecue joints in town. I don’t say that lightly, as I have been to many, and barbecue is nowhere near my favorite type of food. After trying quite a few places and still returning to B&B to enjoy the brisket, potato salad, and those fresh-baked cookies, B&B has become part of my regular lunch go-to list. Any time we get a long lunch because of training, the teachers I work with are jumping to have one of their huge salads with grilled chicken. I always intend on ordering a salad, but once I get there and look around at everybody else’s plates of bbq sauce lathered meat, I change my mind and order my regular sausage and brisket combo. Sometimes the brisket is a bit dry, but nothing a good bbq sauce can’t fix. Will. Be. Back! My Unilocal rating system: 5 stars= Driving across town just for this! 4 stars= I would recommend visiting. 3 stars= Average, acceptable, positive. 2 stars= You might be able to drag me in. 1 star= I will definitely not be returning.

ATMOSPHERE: What is it with this part of Texas and their A/C? I feel like I’m having hot flashes. They keep the dining area cool… like their creamed corn. I recommend bringing a light outer garment if you’re prone to the chill of A/C. I would say this place is pretty standard of most sit down BBQ joints. Gives you a feel of a picnic without the picnic. The bathroom deserves a mention. Harry Potter would be proud. I think his closet was slightly bigger than this bathroom. SERVICE: Self serve drink station with a pickup window reminiscent of of a food truck window for your food. Granted, we came in at 10:30am right when they opened so I didn’t expect a line but the order taking was swift and painless. FOOD: I got the Deluxe Plate w/3 meats and 2 sides. For around $ 14 I would say this is affordable for this type of grub. Brisket — One word: bland. The ends were tender but nothing else about it out-shined his meat brethren. I might have some high standards for my brisket but all I’m asking for is texture and flavor. Is that too much to ask for? Ribs — I judge my ribs on its«falling off the bone» quality. It was not. What can I say? I’m lazy with my ribs. I want to likely peel the meat off the bone, not gnaw the meat off the bone like a cave woman. The meat itself was pepper speckled, a bit dry, but it really had a great flavor to it. By far the best of the 3 meats. Sausage — You cannot mess this up. Great job BB, you managed to meet the sausage link standards. Creamed corn — Creamy and sweet. Just how I like it. What I didn’t like was that it was served to me cold. It threw off the harmony of the entire plate. Warm food. Meet cold corn. What? You don’t want to be friends? That’s what I thought. Texas green beans — Served hot and full of flavor. If green beans could be juicy, I would call this juicy. Had the right amount of crunch to each bean with an added crunch from the onions. The plate came with a roll, pickles, raw onions, and BBQ sauce. VERDICT: Would I come back? I’ll pass. I’m sure there are other BBQ places in San Antonio with more outstanding food.

Came in with the family and not one single person left unsatisfied. Ordered the 3-meat deluxe plate: the pulled pork was amazing, the deckled brisket was so juicy and the sausage bursts in your mouth. The best part is the bbq sauce, it was hot and plenty. Would give 10 stars if it was available.

Old time favroite in the south side. Although Mexican Restaurants rule San Antonio especially in the southside this place holds its own and has transcended the ages. Briskit was tender, Sausage had a crunchy lining but the Turkey was suppurb must try, small place so get there early for lunch

I had the 3 meat combo plate with, brisket, pulled pork and turkey. A side of pinto beans and cream corn. Bothe the brisket and pork were dry, like really dry. Had to drown them in BBQ sauce and almost zero flavor. The turkey was moist and delicious. No need for any sauce because it’s so good by itself. The beans were terrible and the cream corn was not bad but also not very good. My daughter got the chicken tenders and she loved them. Her fries were good and crispy and not grease. I heard this place was great for radio advertisement so I drove 30 min and was hugely disappointed. Place is small and gets crowded fast, but our food came out pretty quickly. I would not recommend this place.
