ACi has been around since about 1995. It used to have a maze area with«circular openings», but some druggie smoked crack(or something) and caused a blaze in the facility. This happened in 2014 or early 2015. The steam room has reopened(having been closed since about early 2015). It’s a basic steam room, with wooden benches and rubber tile mats. The smell is reminiscent of being in a tire shop. But I digress. It can get a bit steamy. One guy recently tried to sit at the end of the benches and fell on his ass(not seeing the empty space between benches). There is a section of four or five booths which do have glory holes, inside and some on the exteriors. The shower area is so so. There are three showerheads. One has a round shower head that stops about every 20 seconds or so. You then have to press a metal button of sorts. There is a bunk bed area and also a secondary bed area(with mattresses provided for sleep or frolic). This section tends to invite an audience. I think lockers are about $ 15 for 8 hours, while rooms are $ 25 for 8 hrs. The rooms are very basic. There is constant music thru the speakers, so if you’re looking for quiet(while actually wanting to sleep and return back to a nearby city), then you’re out of luck. There is a patio area, but just chairs pretty much. There used to be a swell pool outside, which felt great during hot temperatures. Parking: There is a section of parking in front of the building(facing Elmira(which is a name that is given to the I-35 access road). ACi is located at the intersection of Elmira and North St. Mary’s. There is a small parking area to the back of the place. There is additional parking across Elmira. It’s kind of limited and can be problematic when cars seem to shoehorn into tight spaces. Don’t park on Elmira. as you will receive a present from the San Antonio PD. Oh… for people who actually need to sleep for travel reasons, there is a Super 8 Riverwalk across the highway. If you get the munchies on an early weekend morning, there is a Pete’s Tako House that opens at 6:00 a.m. on weekends. It is located near Broadway and Brooklyn. BTW, the facility does have a condom dispenser in the locker area, but you need your own lube. The crowd at ACi is friendlier than the clientele at Midtown Spa Austin. Plus, you may get a chance to meet a military guy, since S.A. has several military facilities. ACi is not owned by a national chain, so don’t expect it to be like Steamworks Chicago or a Club Dallas. But ACi is the only game in town.

Thought I would put some information out here since they don’t seem to have a website and everything I found online was outdated when I visited. Yes this is a gay male bathhouse. It is worn and has def seen better days but if your in a pinch it probably will get the job done. They do make a copy of your ID(weird) and the cost of a locker is $ 20. Its fairly large inside and kept reasonably clean. It has lots of rooms and dark hallways and various theme areas. By far the two best features are a very makeshift gang shower and a steam with a door that was broken and didn’t close. The gym equipment is ancient and non-functioning, completely unusable. The hot tub and pool said to have been there at one time are no longer there. There is no ‘protection’ or extras provided so bring anything you think you may need. Mostly middle aged guys on a weekend during the mid afternoon but enough people to where it wasn’t boring.
