My earlier review of the Ranch was removed for«violating their Terms of Service«. I will try again. I am local to San Anselmo. I wanted to spend locally to support local businesses. The reviews of the Ranch were favorable. I checked the opening hours for the day. On Unilocal it said they were open. The Ranch’s web site said they open. The sign on the door of the San Anselmo salon said they should be open. They were not open. No note on the door explaining why. Just dark. I called the phone number hoping a message might let me know what was going on. No answer. No voice mail. My previous post said I would not comment on the quality of the haircut. But I will comment on the way the store treated this particular customer. Pretty shabbily and without respect. It was, as I stated in my previous post, a waste of my time.

Good hair cut. Good price. Really nice view. I’ve been looking for a local spot just like this since I’ve moved here. I’ll be back monthly.

The haircuts are great. BUT, today I planned my day around getting a haircut at the said opening time(10AM — 6PM). So I get to there right at 10AM, door is locked with no one in it, wait around for 10 minutes, tried calling their phone 5 times with no answer. Finally someone answers the phone and informs me that the San Anselmo location is not open on Mondays, even though it clearly says on the website: The Ranch Hours: Mon — Fri: 10:00 am — 6:00 pm Saturday: 10:00 am — 5:00 pm Please, the Ranch, fix your website to inform your customers the hours of each location, not just the general hours for all 3 locations. It would really help in planning out your customers’ day. Thanks. This mishap threw a wrench into my day.

This is the place to go when you’re too old for Supercuts but too young for your dad’s barber. Not to mention it isn’t your mom’s(or your wife’s) salon — it’s a relaxed, welcoming place to get a great haircut. I’m lucky to live right down the street from The Ranch, but I’d drive if I had to. Not sure about the review above that mentions Andreas not being welcoming to kids. I came with my three kids in tow, and Andreas couldn’t have been friendlier to me and to them. He let them sit wherever they wanted, invited them in and let them play with his dog. Maybe he was just having a bad day… No question, this is where I’ll be getting my hair cut from now on.

Andreas has been cutting my hair since 2007. I am very picky about who cuts my hair. After a number of years of less-than-acceptable haircuts since my previous haircutter went back to the restaurant business, I walked into The Ranch, San Anselmo after seeing an ad in the Pacific Sun. I have been happy ever since. The mood is laid back. I never feel rushed. I can get an appointment easily and the price is right! «A great place to get a great haircut» really says it!

I love this place!!! A week before I was to get married, I wanted to get a good haircut, instead of the usual Supercut mode that I usually go for. I had asked a relative that lives in marin who I should go to, and was told hands down, see Andreas at the Ranch. This place is awesome! very clean, sports on TV, great magazine collection. Andreas did a great job on my hair, the price was right, and the Ranch is now my go to place! I cannot recommend this place enough, it is superb!

I stopped by yesterday to get a hair cut while out on a bike ride with my son and daughter. David was there with another client so the kids and I played foosball on the back patio until David was free. It was a little cold back there so we all came in when David was free. In the middle of my cut, Andreas showed up. Without saying anything to me first, he asked my kids to go outside so «only the men would be inside». While I appreciate cultural differences in how children are viewed and his right to run his business the way he sees fit, it’s not OK to say that to my kids without asking me first. Two, you should put a sign on the door that says«No children, please» to inform would be customers of the rule before they enter your shop. Normally I would have just walked out, but 1) you can’t just leave in the middle of a haircut and 2) David did a great job cutting my hair.

I grew up in the 60s going to barber shops that were kind of like a guys’ club, with The Game on TV and guy magazines to leaf through. When my old barber in downtown San Rafael retired, I looked for years for a barber shop with a barber who gave a great haircut. But I wound up going to barber shops that gave crappy cuts, or salons that gave great cuts but were trendy and full of back issues of Vogue, and where they were very uncomfortable if you wanted a beard trim. Finally I found Andreas, and now I don’t go anywhere else.
