I don’t know if it’s the food or service but I left 10 minutes ago and feel great. Fries were awesome. I would pay 38 bucks to feel this good any day!! yup first Unilocal with an emoji. They need more than 5 stars to rate this place

Under Current helped me decide to rent an apartment in downtown Salt Lake. That might sound like hyperbole, but once I stepped into the sophisticated and classy room, I realized no other neighborhood would do. Under Current is grown up, slick, and shows a side of SLC, that could temper any L.A. snobbery. Amy, the manager, is Utah down to earth, but has traveled and worked with some of the best loungists in the country. Alejandro knows how to mix, engage, and welcomes you with bartender panache. All my drinks were fantastic, and the obscure Utah liquor laws never interfered with good drinking. The bar food is fabulous, creative and tasty. Sometimes I need Armani and Gucci when North Face and Sierra Club won’t do. Under Current is now my neighborhood bar of choice. Salud!

Good drinks $ 9 pretty reasonable however the batenders are arrogant even for slc standards. Forget it if you are a single white male they treat as if you are a serial killer on welfare. I been here twice same result. I will not be coming back!

My boyfriend and I held out on going here for a little while, afraid it would be thronging with hipsters and yuppies. Thankfully, it was not, and the atmosphere was actually very enjoyable; the place gets mad props for interior décor. The liquor menu is pretty extensive and not as atrociously priced as we’d feared given the upscale vibe. The«steamed bun» we got wasn’t the bao we thought it would be — more like a taco with a puffy tortilla — but it was tasty. All of the above would have resulted in a 4 or 5 star review — until I just happened to glance at our receipt after the waitress rang my boyfriend’s debit card. For starters, they’d rung up our drinks as higher priced items on the menu, making our total $ 18 instead of $ 16. But they ran the card for $ 25! Who’t pocketing that extra $ 9 gratuity, may I ask?! I pointed this out to our waitress, who apologized, saying she had no idea how it happened(naturally). She swore the original $ 25 charge was voided and she rang the card up for the actual total. Only time will tell if she was telling the truth, or if they scammed another $ 25 from us. Feeling taken advantage of by the staff totally killed the evening and the experience for us. In short, if you like slimy oysters and even slimier business tactics and shady bartenders, go to Under Current.

I don’t hand out 5 stars easily but this place is awesome. Classy, upscale place for civilized people to have a conversation. No TV, no big game on, no loud music blaring. Patrons were actually talking to one another rather on there phones. Bartenders are all very cool and know what they are doing. They lack that too cool attitude other places have down the street. Place is sleek and just right. Its my new spot.

The ambiance and atmosphere is so perfect, I’d go back just for the looks even if the cocktails weren’t perfection in a glass. I have no idea what I drank but it got the job done! I’d tell you there wasn’t an liquor, but there definitely was(I don’t remember tasting any). My favorite part of my drink was the little metal stir-spoon-straw. Gonna buy 100 of them from the Internet. Can’t wait to go back.

I’m so happy that our little Salt Lake is growing up. I’m not a huge drinker these days but I still enjoy a nice evening out with friends, delicious drinks in hand. Under Current is a great spot for this. The space is modern without being cold and I think it’s a nice location. I’m glad someone did something fun with the space. It’s definitely a nicer stop than some other bars in the area but I don’t think you necessarily have to dress to impress everyone. I just wouldn’t show up in your grubby jeans or sweats. I wasn’t crazy about the food but the drinks are good and that’s good enough for me. Whether you order from the menu or off, you know you’ll get a quality drink. If you’re in the mood for food, just head next door!

Are we still in Salt Lake? Damn this place is swanky for the City of Saints. I love the broad range of places to grab a drink that are popping up around town. From divey(a personal fave) to more upscale, like Under Current. It’s a great atmosphere to get together for a birthday celebration, date night, or pre-dinner cocktails. But I wouldn’t roll out of the house in my boyfriend jeans(even through they’re from Nordstrom) and AA hoodie and expect to fit in with the crowd here. Its definitely a little more hipster/dressy. But hey, when a place is this nice, I can spend a little extra time to look nice. The drinks are killer. I ordered off the menu and the bartender made a fantastic negroni. We also ordered a few appetizers for the table to share. The food isn’t their strong point even though they’re connected to a restaurant. Just come here for the drinks and the scene.

4 stars for the elegant décor and cool, yet casual ambiance. 3 stars for the food. The pork belly bun was pretty good once I actually had a bite of what little meat was in there, but not worth the five bucks. I’ll probably stick to oysters next time, or have dinner next door at Current. This bar is unlike any other in SLC. They specialize in cocktails with Absinthe in them, so if that’s not your thing, you’d be better off ordering something off menu. Overall, I really liked this place. It’s definitely the new and trendy hot spot of Salt Lake City which is like a breath of fresh air with the countless amount of dive bars around town.

Cool restaurant but the food was a little underwhelming. I ordered oysters and frankly they really sucked. I guess I should only trust Takeshi for seafood in this town. I would come back but probably just for drinks and apps. I can not see myself trusting much more than that.

We stumbled upon the public opening night after a fabulous dinner at Current Fish & Oyster and we were so happy to end our night here. Our party of five saw that the bar was open during our meal and decided to wander in afterwards. The beautiful interior drew us in and the innovative cocktails and comfy couches kept us there for a couple hours more than we initially planned but greatly enjoyed. The Siren was strong on the flavor but the egg whites were done well and added a great creamy component. The Oh My, Moai was refreshing and more subtle than expected. The Glasgow Szarac was a gamble and not as heavy as expected but smooth and delicious. The Lou’s Voyage presentation was similar to Oh My, Moai with the pineapple leaf stirrer but good overall; less absinthe flavor and more cinnamon. The staff behind the bar were familiar faces from Copper Common, Bar X, and Beer Bar. We were too full from our dinner but the groups around us were enjoying delicious plates that we recognized from the menu at Current. Street parking is free for two hours east of the restaurant so don’t park too far west. Great experience overall. Spacious interior. Ample seating. Friendly and helpful staff. Creative cocktails. I’ll be back for sure.

The drinks are amazing!!! And the vibe is perfect! If you want the best drink you’ve ever had try the«Ravi’z» it’s made with tomatillo salsa, Hawaiian lava salt, and cilantro! Best drink I’ve ever had & created by Adrian and head chef Logen Crew
